Master Plan 100% wins it all. It was so much more clear and crisp. *chef’s kiss*
I was skeptical but it indeed won me over. I now have it on board.
You had two forms of saturation engaged in master plan with tape and thickness yet no forms of saturation in Ozone. Could have been addressed by adding vintage tape and exciter. They never get added by default as ozone wants you to dial distortion in to taste.
What it did show is that Master Plan allows for results to be achieved quickly though 🎉
dude how have I not found your channel before!! ive been struggling and overthinking mixing and mastering and I feel like I understand it all again hahaha
Dude you are who I needed to check out. Love the energy and the review, this is my third review watch so I an getting it., thanks. I subscribed just because of your presentation and positive energy! We need that in todays world.
a saw another youtuber reviewing it as well so i decided to look for more reviews i was amazed. i purchased it right away
Hi Bradly, this thing seems cool it’s very colourful & kinda gritty when you pushed it on your track, yea it’s deff loud ! Worked great on your song, which sounded realy good. I’m gonna give it a try me thinks. Have a great day. 🤟
Yea man! I think you can really shape it pretty well too, doesn't have to be soooo aggressive, I just love that soft-clipped vibe on the throwback modern masters!
Sounds really good. Gonna have to take a demo of it!
Definitely demo it! Let me know what you think after you’ve had some time with it!
Thanks for this incredible plugin for mastering, regards from Chile Bro ✌🏼😎🌎👑🙏🏼
Master plan deffitnely!Love it!
The sweet spot via the manual says to turn the loud up until the Lufs turns green/white. The unity button in top right corner allows you to hear what it's doing with out the volume jump :) The phone emulation is pretty sick as well! Bradley over here making me spend money!
I'll definitely give it a shot. I've been mastering for well over a decade so I don't mind going into the -5 territory. My last two records I dropped were at -3 to -4 area and still compete and sound dynamic.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Oh I agree! If it ain't in the red your music is dead. I was just stating what the manual said.
Always appreciate the feedback and comments! @@midlifeadventures3138
After seeing masterplan on offer for £87, I came to UA-cam for guidance. This is my Christmas present sorted! Great review, love the clean and clear A/B process.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood thanks. Nice track btw. I can hear how the tape effects would work with the retro vibe.
I like the width element that Master Plan brought in. felt very gluey and fun
It sounds very open, natural and just very musical and like a record.
Thanks BHD! / I dig both the sound of God Particle and Master Plan but I think I like the controls/options on Master Plan a bit better. The combined clipper/limiter is very interesting and is my best guess as to why it is doing a better job on perceived loudness. Right now I run a clipper into a limiter but doing that in one one step would be cool!
YEA! Lately I've been using both the MP and GP on the master, just in more subtle ways and combining what they do best... Tons of great tones out of both!
Ozone made such a nice stereo image and balance, it was just missing some saturation/excitement (which I guess it won't do automatically) master pan was flat and lumped into the centre but did a great job of bringing in those translatable lower harmonics which will help for phone playback and small speakers. Maybe I'll upgrade my ozone if it gets me that close without any actual work 👹
I could not believe that such a simple plugin like Master Plan totally annihilated Ozone, been using it for a month and just makes things so easy, same conclusion, cleaner sound and faster workflow, SUSCRIBED bro
Master plan, glad I bought it
both good.
I'm in a very good listening environment that I know well and Master Plan sounds the best to my ear.
Awesome video, and I must agree. The master Plan wins. I had to go back to re-listen to the first shoot out with the God Particle. They were close by a hair I’d say, and then landr and ozone last.
also had to revisit god particle cause its just so damn good. I will say masterplan had more depth but was a little over saturated. even with that being said i think the loudness is what tipped it over the edge being better than god particle.
Comparing Apples to bananas. God particle is a mixing plugin that Jaycen mixes into. God particle is not a mastering tool. It has a limiter that is not the best (say Joshua himself) but good enough as reference track for mastering engineer.
Masterplan is made for mastering.
So you would actually use god particle without the limiter and then master plan.
Good content 💯🔈🔈🎶🎵I’m buying it tonight🙏🏾
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Got it!!!!
using it on a old song that I recorded on the TASCAM 688💯
IM buying master plan today!!! it just pops! sounds industry! others are flat as hell
100% master plan! That’s insane!!
The crazy part is... I actually mixed INTO the God Particle on this track, then to shootout the plugins, I popped on Master Plan and tweaked it for like 3 minutes to get where it's at in this video.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood far out! That’s amazing! Excellent result!
when using master plan there's no metering? should i put a L2 limiter after it to make sure its good for streaming services when its uploaded ?
Hey, awesome review! However, I have a silly question regarding that "clipping", I suppose I am an amateur on that field so could you (or someone else) please explain why it happens and why it's not a problem? I beg for a little longer answer if needed. Thanks!
Alen.
I usually split my masters between two limiters. Would you use this limiter as a last plugin in a mastering chain? Or maybe follow this up with a Fabfilter L2?
Master plan has a slight distortion Landr and the particle are clearer while still being loud enough. I would like to hear Fabfilter L2 comparison.
Hey thank you for the excellent video, just a question would you add a glue compressor before the master plan?
Do you think I can use baby audio smooth operator instead of sooth2 in the mastering chain? please share your thoughts.
Need to revisit this on my studio monitors...I'll check back in then lol
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Checked it out on my monitors...I'm still liking the Master Plan...also love the SSL Bus Processor.
@@Koosa-kq2hv SSL buss comp is classic... Unfortunately, I can't get away with just a compressor on my mix buss.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Noooo...not the ssl bus compressor. I'm talking about the new SSL BUS PROCESSOR plugin. It has stereo width and all that other good stuff on it for bus processing. And it loons beautiful😎😁
Thanks, I was gonna buy Master plan but I like the God particle the most out of all of them (and I already own that so that's a W). Imo everything MP does is good but that umpfh, that power/punch is weakened (which is probably a result of it's build in algo or... because you picked certain settings like smooth or whatever).
can we use masterplan and god particle together? if yes or you are using it that way please share your thoughts on how you would use.
Real quick boss: double checking after loudness matching with ozone, was ozone just as loud 😮cause it felt way quieter but i saw output was lower?
Yea, I level matched Ozone, tried pushing it further but it started to break up
hey i bought one of your mixing courses and wanted to ask where the template is that you are talking about in that course ? Greetings from Germany
Hey! Which course are you referring to? Please shoot me an email: info@radium-media.com
Master plan is the thickest! God Particle was the cleanest! Lander missed the runway lol (Ozone was just a big No!) PS like the tune!
Is it just me or did the Master Plan have more "umph" than the God Particle????🧐
The God particle is not a mastering plugin , it’s a mix bus plugin. the songs jaycen Joshua mixes still goes out for final mastering after it goes thru the God Particle during the mixing process. Master plan vs ozone and landr is a better shootout
I just came from a video where someone was using the god particle at 60%.... Then topping things up with master plan... Dialing it in. They were using the limiter of the master plan instead of the god particles limiter.... Which I agree with...
Could put this on a Drum bus for Dre 2001 madness. I do want to see some non token reviews of this plug though.
God Particle 🐐🐐🐐
gotta say that the mix is already sick ! ! ! but i guess u did sell it to me -_^ ch33rs
I prefer slightly God Particle, and aslo the sound of Ozone ....Master Plan sounds a bit too processed and there is some distortion in the low end... but the Limiter on Masterplan sounds great
Yea, I was pushing it pretty hard. You can also back off the saturation if you don't like the low end soft clipping, I dig that sound though. Helps it cut through and sound a bit more modern.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood I have to tested, the thing is that if you already own many plugins for years that I am sure you go and if you got the best ones it is rare to find now a plug-in that really is way better …. unless is something pretty different
My Ozone 11 was replaced with the Master Plan. I have both and I think the Master Plan sounds much better with a faster user interface.
My ears say Master Plan easy wins vs Ozone and Landr. The battle is tighter against The God Particle, the differences are much more subtle there, would be very interesting to hear different genres to claim a winner :D
Totally! Comes down to taste there... And I find myself switching between the two for different genres or even using BOTH!
Masterplan is flattening everything to 2D, "prob cause the Clipper" Lander had way more Dynamics and depth. that being said for certain styles like EDM, Hip Hip, styles with little to no Acoustic instruments may benefit from this JUMBO CAKE effect. for me its not musical when there's 0 nuance in Dynamics. After listening to the comparison for 10 minutes I realized the issue is Master Plan makes every element in your song the same volume which negates all the work you did in the mix, ie. all the automation etc. which is perfect to play your manager or get your Label excited "Fooling the Fools", but tragically will fatigue a listener into losing interest before the 2nd chorus. Btw, Great song and video!
Oh yea... Everything needs different treatment. Also, consider I'm making a youtube video here, not really going into detail on mastering and mastering techniques!
Thank you! All these "mastering" plug ins are garbage. Loudness bias fools people into thinking it's better.
You guys have no idea what you're talking about! 😜 It has a unity gain function so you don't care any volume changes... While you're setting it up.
And this plugin does not make everything 2D....at all. Demo it. it's top shelf
do you know if master plan has a auto bass filter on the wide option?
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood im asking if the widenning leaves the center untouched, like Leapwing stageOne and many others, couse there is no indication of that and maybe i dont want to make my kick and bass more wide
@@HugoDaSilva7 To my ears, it's one of the most musical "widening" algos I've heard, regardless of what it's doing with the center... Give it a demo, you'll hear it!
I prefer Ozone. The changes are more subtle, and louder doesn't nearly mean better.
I thought Ozone made the vocal too bright and upfront... Everyone has different tastes though! Thanks for the comment
I mean, no match, Ozone 8, 9 or 10 is abrassive with the cpu. I mean strictly one thing: You can open at least eleven instances of Master plan or God Particle and the cpu will keep everything good, in the other hand you open one ozone 10 and cpu has reached the consumption of those eleven opened Master plan vstplugins.
Can you please explain what UAD Manley, Gulfoss and soothe2 is doing, it would be very helful!!!!
The Manley gives some great harmonics, due to the “tubes” emulation. Soothe 2 is taming down some harshness/ sibilance/ and low mids
Gulfoss tames peaks and recovers missing frequencies... It's a great tool for clarity and separation in the final mix without working as hard.@@vcodev108
On my iPad, Ozone had some better “radio ready” qualities but Master plan was louder and preserved transients better. Master Plan also beat LANDR IMO. LANDR sounded way too limited and it brought the snare clap up in an unpleasant way.
TGP isn’t supposed to be (specifically) a mastering plugin though, just 2bus processing to mix into before mastering, but yeah, regardless, master plan seems wicked good.
I hear ya, but the question would then be, are any of these plugins made for mastering on the mix buss? If I’m adding plugins to the master buss, I’m using them for “mastering”. I don’t plan on sending this anywhere for further mastering or bouncing and adding anything else, this will be the “mastered” version.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood I hear your logic, but regardless if you send it out as such, plenty of people mix into a chain to get things grooving a specific way, then send it to a mastering engineer. If you follow that methodology, then you could effectively use your 2bus chain as usual, then master afterwards. Since TGP is supposed to be treated as a mixing chain, I treat it as such, and nothing more. But hey, whatever works for you, but they are different beasts by nature; some similarities, but different in a bunch of ways.
@@Noisa Jaycen himself has said that if he's mastering the record (which he does very often), he doesn't add anything after TGP.
@@rjsworld1512 Pretty sure TGP is used only on the mix bus. I might've missed something, but don't think Jaycen said he uses it for mastering. TGP + Master Plan might be a dope formula for quick mixes/masters.
hi. It got louder. Thanks
This chain Vs your Mastering course Chain? Wich you prefer? Haha
Damn…. That’s a tough one! Really depends on the source material I think.
I have to agree with Warren Huart that it's best not to mix into plugins on the master bus. The best master I've achieved involved going out-of-the-box and only using two digital plugins (an EQ for subtractive moves and a limiter). personally not a fan of multiband limiting and all that jazz-- I tried Limitless, for instance.
Whatever gets you the best results… I’m here to present what works for me! 👍🏼
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood But you're also trying to provide information for people who are learning and doing their own production, right? So any downsides to mixing into plugins on the master bus are worth mentioning. I feel people become better mixers and learn how to properly balance mixes better without stuff impacting the overall mix in its entirety as such. Plus a less processed mix can be better mastered by someone else. A mix that's dependent on particular plugins on the two bus can fall apart rather easily and may only sound good to the producer in his/her/their space. Just sayin' beginners and intermediate folk might very well benefit from just learning how to mix without limiters and God particles and whatever else
You're stating an opinion here... I 100% of the time mix into a master buss with plugins on and recommend it most of the time. Cheers!@@Brutuscomedy
your song is HOT!
When you matched the Ozone 10 level to the Master Plan I could barely hear a difference. Thanks for comparing the 2. I have Ozone 10 Advanced already, so I will stick with that.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood Sorry I was watching the video on my TV, but I have replayed that section again on my PC with studio monitors and it does sound a bit fatter on Master Plan. I could just add one of my many fat plugins if I haven't already to the chain. Or I could just download the demo now and test. 😁 Does it have a learn feature like Ozone?
I was gonna say!! They are night and day to me...@@clintonpeck
Master plan distorts more than all the others ... listen: "put the record back >>>ON
Yes, I prefer the "distortion"... It's just some saturation on the low punch, easy to back off but I like it!
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood First of all Dope Song, Second of all Dope Song!!
Now that being said, I do think Master Plan sounds good but I do agree with deewise2626 that it sounded over cooked only due to your "Loud" knob setting and would much prefer you'd back off a little...-5 Lufs is crazy dude C'mon LOL😋, all I heard was "Crunchiness" to a perfectly good song...I'm sorry to a dope Song!!! I'm curious if you backed it off a little before released it. Let me know.
Now let me go find this song and turn it up cause I'm not sure I mentioned it before, but it's dope!✌🏾😎
Master plan wins it in my book
I don't think masterplan It's better than ozone but It's actually easier and quicker to get good results with master plan.
Define "better"... Every record is going to need something different in my opinion, it's why I can't use AI mastering...
ozone 10 sounds more tight and has less distortion
I disagree. Ozone 10 pushes the vocal forward, added high end I don’t like for the record, and did not compete with loudness, nor did it give the saturation that I’m going for as a throwback vibe…. Listen to Motown records or even 2023 modern records, they have “distortion”, I want that.
@@RadiumRecordsHollywood yes i understand that it just sound to mutch for me, maybe youtube sound efect (heard with the AKG K712) but dont get me wrong looks like a great plug in
There is something fundamentally wrong with the low end of your mix. And there snare needs tweaking. There seems to be a frequency hole in the song. And something about the kick is boxy. The mix is close. But song is not slapping as hard as it can. And this makes the plugin comparison hard.
Nah… You either gotta get your ears checked, got a room problem, or just don’t like the mix (all are fine). Here’s link to the song so you can hear it: open.spotify.com/track/3fleWSoThmjQP2Eq5Y0Wnp?si=7285749d34314972 the mix is EXACTLY as I intended it to be. 💯
If you don't hear obvious distortion in Master Plan .... Pushing it that hard is disserving what seems to be a good plugin.
Yesssss when MP is not pushed harder, it sounds clearer than LANDR and LANDR to me was the clearest of them all based on his demo.
Ozone was HUMILIATED by Master plan on this one, I used Ozone for years and I never liked this little mud it adds to pretty much anything, God Particle is fine but Ozone is def the worst now, not using it ever again.
I use ozone 11 then the god particle. I’ll have to try the master plan and a/b.
@@GlobalWave1 Besides the CPU being like only a sixth of what Ozone consumes, the sound is CLEAN and loud af, you wont be disapppointed, I was HUGE into Ozone, but this is just simple and works better
Master Plan made bass fart
