Since we live in Jamshedpur and generations of my family have worked for Tata our perspectives are different. Every year a very good percentage of profits is distributed amongst the employees as bonus and also employees get fuel allowances and various other benifits which no other company provides. Tatas have a lot of ethical values. Ratan Tata believes that no business is a failure and if a 2nd chance is given every business can be a successful business. He has proved it time and again be it Tata Motors or even Jaguar/Land rover for that matter. But Cyrus Mistry did what Tatas have not done in generations, he simply worked by the profit and loss rule the companies that suffered loss he juat sold them off and this is where he didn't fall in line with the values that Tatas stand for. This was not acceptable by Ratan Tata himself as well as by the board.

Over these years of analyzing humans and corporate world, I realized that we tend to forget that at the end we are nothing but one individual. Whether it is the case of Cyrus or Carlos, they hurt the public sentiment for company profit; remind you that these companies are not little vending machines-they have defined an era, a nation (i.e. Tata, Nissan, etc.). Sometimes as men we need to be reminded that humans need money; money doesn’t need humans. If you end up harming too many humans, both groups will end up not needing you. Be ambitious but also be human.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't tara power's next leg of growth is promised upon the Tata Power Solar compnay, which Cyrus Mistry acquired, the "last straw" for ratan tata?

TATA were the BRANDS are the BRANDS and will be the BRANDS that no other company could ever become that BIG.
the name TATA stands for ETHICS, VALUES and not for PROFIT.
No matter what even they have they have to bear huge huge loss BUT TATA will never ever compromise in their WORD, STATEMENTS, PROMISE, ETHICS, MORALS and VALUES. This is the feature which had BUILT TATA.
TATA are the biggest and the most CREDIBLE brands......
SIR RATAN TATA had promised DOCOMO that their investment will be secured and they will pay any amount for their loss and what MYSTRY did was very wrong.
RATAN TATA is the name is the BRAND in itself which stands for ETHICS no matter if you bear loss or you go bankrupt but RATAN TATA will never ever COMPROMISE on his words. RATAN TATA will be HAPPY to pay anything if it comes but he will never ever do any act which will question the TATA.
RATAN TATA will be happy to go bankrupt for what he had promised and bounce back from the scrap.
LOVE YOU SIR RATAN TATA from NEPAL

TATA is all about ethics.. if money was their aim, then it would be no1 in the world by not donating 60% of its profit as charity.
Just worried who will be next to carry its legacy, will that person will also give more value to ethics than money?

I worked with Shapoorji Pallonji co ltd (SPCL) as well as Tata Communications Ltd (TCL).
To be honestly speaking, I was not happy with both the management.
I know about Cyrus mistry and his egoistic nature. None of the employees were paid salary as per industry std. There were so many good civil engineers left from that company. I too left this company due to lack of any prospects, as well as poor payscale. No training , No good appraisals and No appreciation of good works. It was a family run business. I earned more frustration than my salary.
When I joined TCL, I was thinking that it was a wise decision and would lead a very peaceful , good professional life. But on contrary, it was fully run by Former VSNL goons and gunda's in that company. They harrassed continuously people who are appointed by TCL , especially from outside of tata group. It was worst salary payscale and salary increments. Totally different worst experience with that company.
The only good thing in my life which I thankful to my god , by placing me in TCL for 4.5 years of work, it was "training on different levels, to improve our knowledge, and show them in our works" which I did very well.
When the news came out that cyrus was appointed as chairman in tata group, I laughed a lot. He is just capable of running a small civil construction company. That's it. He has no capability to understand all other business models , issues and nature of other products.

The Mistry's are at fault, defying the man who has picked you and going to court against him. , and also disregarding the business ethics of the Tatas,. in his greed for more money

Sad to see comments as to why cyrus is being seen as money minded person. Tata has values and everybody respects him for his noble work towards society through business.
Cyrus had new ideas of how the business can be expanded and opposed Nano. Everybody can see the result of Nano now. Cyrus worked not only for himself but also for Tatas as they has 18.4% stake in the company. Having 18.4% stake is not a joke. But the way he was treated was very unfair.
As Tatas have worked for the society so is cyrus mistry. We have respect both and not just create frivolous differences.

As a laymen I can say ethics of Tatas and SP are different and it is earth to sky different. Though they appointed him converting their ethics no one will allow. We see so many corporate mismatch because of overconfidence steps taken by them which ultimately shaken their basement. Anyway if you want to play, play with your own money. When being a trustee be that as it may, and abide by the rules.
