I'm a 60s and 70s kid, grew up listening to these guys, their music will outlive us all, RIP Duke, you are now reunited with your Four Tops brothers, thanks for the memories amd the music.
The Duke is back with his boys, and I can here that voice of Levi Stubs! These 4 brothers were the best of Detroit, and my heros, they were loyal to each other through the 60's 70's!
Musicians play instruments 🎷🎸🎹🎺🥁 --- to me as an entity, they were just great singers, who through thick and thin --- stayed TOGETHER in good times, bad times, in sickness and in health --- as one tight group of "Brothas and Singers!" And for that, they will ALWAYS be the four (4) man group that others Quads should strive to be! #RESPECT #facts
I love The Four Tops to this day....Okay, you are making me want to put on the cds of Motown....."Baby I Need Your Loving". Reminding me of the days of talent shows hearing their songs on the stage....Hot dog!!!!!!
Their songs take me back to another era. My childhood. Loved them then and I love them now. Recently painted my kitchen and for 2 days straight, listen to them on Amazon music. Never enjoyed painting so much!! Thank you Four Tops for all the memories.
RIP to The Four Tops 🙏 Although I was born in the 90s I grew up with this music because of my dad. Their songs bring so many good memories. The best was singing along with all my high school friends to "I Can't Help Myself" at my birthday party. Your music will live on for generations to come!
THIS IS WHAT ORIGINAL BROTHERLY LOVE IS AT ITS BEST. AS LEVI SING IN ONE OF HIS SONGS, “I’LL NEVER STOP CHANGE, I’LL NEVER STOP LOVING YOU…OBIE-DUKE-AND LAWRENCE FOR ETERNITY AND FOREVER! BUT THEY GAVE USE SOMETHING TO REMEMBER THEM BY…..”LOVE MUSIC”✊🏾❤
One of my dad’s favorite artists back in the days, I grew up listening to The Four Tops music. Good ol days. Watching this brings back memories of my dad too. I love their music, then and now. Thank you for the music. My dad is sure to be listening to your music up there. RIP 🙏🏼
The Four Tops were so great. Motown music was the best, ever, and they were about the greatest of the Motown groups. Thankfully, Levi Stubbs stayed loyal to the Four Tops and Detroit, rather than going solo, like Diana Ross. Thank you, Tops… you’re definitely Tops!
They were a great group- happy memories from 70’s. I am delighted they were so successful as they deserved every bit of it! Greetings from Ireland! RIP ALL!
A fantastic clip of the Four Tops. The announcer should have done his homework. The Four Tops did not stop having hits in the 1970’s. They had a huge hit in 1981, When She Was My Girl. The late 1980’s their last Billboard hit record, Indestructible, reached #35.
WOW , the Valley Forge Music Fair !!! that place brings back so many sweet memories for me and I’m in my 60s now. I remember seeing Bobby Womack, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and the Spinners !!! REALLY GREAT MUSIC !!! RIP TO ALL !!! 🙏🏽
I saw them for the last time at the Mountain winery in California and the last original of the four tops Duke was tired and I could see he didn’t have too much longer to go and now he’s gone and we will all miss him dearly and now there’s only one left for The Temptations also. They both were the best ever that I grew up with, and everybody else is wonderful, but they will never be the originals ever again. God bless them all.
My mother would mostly listen to the Oldies whenever we'd drive anywhere, and heard the Four Tops among others quite often. Always a good listen. Can't go wrong with them.
The Dells, and The Whispers were another group that stayed together til members starting passing away too. However, the brotherhood of the 4 Tops could not be matched. They truly loved each other til the end of their lives. It’s a great story that’ll hopefully be told in a biopic someday.
I teared up when I learned Duke had passed away. I was a teen in the 60's and these guys were the soundtrack of my life. I last saw the Tops at an outdoor concert of all R&B artists in Cleveland 25 years ago. Larry Payton had died and replaced by Theo Peoples who was great. They performed every single song they had recorded. They were determined to give us all out money's worth. Consummate professionals.
Wow! Great story because all I ever heard was that they all stayed together! Never knew they replaced a member! 😰 🤷🏽♂️ Thanks OG for the education because I NEVER knew nor heard about that, Pops! #muchRESPECT #oldguysrule
In September of 1964, I started first grade and recalled two songs that were constantly being played on the radio. One was R&B, and the other was Rock n' Roll. The R&B was "Baby, I Need Your Lovin" by the Four Tops, and the other was by the Rolling Stones (the bad boys of British rock), "It's All Over." Now, of course, at the age of 6, I had no idea who the two groups were, but I enjoyed those two hits, and every time I hear these two songs, it takes me back to that time particular of my youth. The last member of the Four Tops has recently passed.....there will NEVER EVER be another group like them..R.I.P
My husband got me into Motown when I met him in 1977 he used too play don’t walkaway Renee on a juke box we must of drove people mad god bless the 4 tops play for the angels ❤❤❤❤
I was fortunate to see them with at a show along with the Fifth Dimension. Audience members kept asking why we were there as we were in our 30’s and everyone else were in their 60’s. I told a client I had seen them and he told me he had seen them perform at a trade show along with the Temptations! Mind blown!
I honestly never knew that Levi Stubbs voiced Mother Brain on the Nintendo-themed Saturday morning cartoon titled “Captain N - The Game Master”. What a talent! RIP Levi Stubbs, Abdul “Duke” Fakir, Renaldo “Obie” Benson and Lawrence Payton.
I'm 61 --- and even I was slightly too young for The Four Tops during their Hey Day! I vaguely remember hearing Bernadette, Baby I Need Your Lovin' and Walk Away Renee maybe when I was still in diapers! But remember, I was only 4 when their early stuff was released! But when I heard "Reach Out, I'll Be There" from the soundtrack of the movie 'Cooley High' . . . then I knew --- THIS WAS REAL BLACK 'FOK MUSIC! Then in the 90s even White 'Fok fell in 🤎 too! And like them, I have gathered so much more respect through every passing year! But as I was growing up, we considered these dudes our parents music! We had The Jackson 5, Ohio Players, et al. But these boys from The Motor City were the Godfathers! #muchRespect #fromtodaysoldguy

Warm Summer nights, Detroit iron, first time love and the Four Tops on the radio playing low. Hearing them now I can smell the Summer air and feel the rush of holding her in my arms for the first time. Timeless!
I grew up in the 60’s and Motown records was a staple in my family whenever any artist made a hit record we would go to the record shop to buy it. My aunt and uncle had weekend parties in their basement with a full bar and bathroom and dance floor and basement entry door and they would have invited guests they danced and play craps on the pool table from Friday night to Sunday morning. Motown and Stax music artist in the 60’s 70’s were so talented.
@joeybaseball7352: I don't know whether thinking is happening with you. They were alive, of course, when the interview appeared on Sunday Morning. And, were you born then? And do know, you could also research your computer to find old interviews of artists you are interested in. That option had ALWAYS been there. I think it's quite appropriate to pull them out when someone dies. It's always been done.
Really loved this old piece on my favorite group of all time. When the audience started singing I lost it. They are all gone but will never be forgotten.
I grew up listening to these guys. In my day the ‘Tops’ and the ‘Temps’ were IT. They are golden.
Fun Fact Obie Benson of The Tops helped Marvin Gaye ✍️ his biggest hit What's Goin on
