Your videos are awesome for those of us who've recently received the news about receiving HER2+ adjuvant therapy. Thank you!

I am going through the same thing right now - triple positive. Refused chemo and radiation prior to the lumpectomy. Did have targeted proton radiation after surgery, 20 sessions with the last 4 being a "boost." I stayed hydrated - sugar and caffeine free electrolyte drink and went for a walk afterwards. It sounds counter intuitive but walking made me less tired and I felt better. We have lots of deer and animals and that was soothing too. All I had was a mild sunburn and no discomfort. I used a cream for that. Took the summer off and thought about whether I would do chemo and decided to go LOW DOSE chemo - once a week for 12 weeks. I have been on a KETO diet for about two years so I was weaned off my chocolate and sugar cravings and eating better. DIET and just walking for exercise MATTERS!!!
Now I am going through chemo. Icing up, feet and hands and a Paxman cold cap. The first session was 7 1/2 hours! I couldn't believe it. I felt DRUNK when I left from the Benadryl and the next day felt like I had a massive hangover and all I did was SLEEP! I drank fresh ginger tea with fresh lemon and had no nausea. The following day, I drank and drank water and ginger lemon tea - no nausea! I had some brain fog but that wore off around the third day. I do my second treatment this Friday, this week. I did have some constipation so I took two Senna pills and I also have Senna tea which is a natural remedy that works. That took care of that. I knew about that from other surgeries - bladder cancer in remission - hopefully that will stay in remission too!
I also have M.S. and control that through nutrition but my Grave's disease came back as Hashimoto's so I take Armour for that. Please do NOT ablate or RADIATE your thyroid! That only makes things worse and you are guaranteed to be on thyroid medicine the rest of your life and the dosage will not normalize you. You will gain weight like crazy and always feel like crap. I am so glad I didn't and learned from others - NOT to do that!
This was an uplifting video and I really appreciate it. Thank you so much for putting this out there. It was reassuring. I have seen so many terrible experiences on this and it made me anxious just listening and watching them. As a rule, I avoid ALL hospital food. The quality is not that great and never organic. I do stick with organic. My husband would bring me food if needed and during chemo I don't eat - just drank my lemon ginger tea and had a sugar free electrolyte that was also cafine free.. Ginger and lemon really work for nausea.
I sincerely wish you a cancer free and happy life and thank you again for putting this out there. I pray I have the same good results that you have had. I have to say PETS make a difference too. They sense you're not totally yourself and pile on the love.

I'm about to start my journey this week for the same treatment. Thank you for your information. It helped me alot especially with the anxiety about not knowing how my system will tolerate this.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am that you made this video. This is the treatment I’ll likely be receiving for triple positive breast cancer. I’m praying it is the plan I’ll have because it seems more tolerable and gentle.

Thank you for your comment. If it turns out that you are on the same chemo treatment plan of Taxol + Herceptin then I encourage you to remember nutrition matters and so does drinking lots of water. Even though I am not a water drinker that I was able to figure out a way to drink about 80 ounces of water a day and all of that helped me not feel terrible and I keep up my normal life. I wish you well.

@@lisamccullar-pumphrey4548 I’ve been preparing with exercise and upping my water intake a lot. Nutrition is so important; I agree. I was curious what book you referred to?

@@2pieceabiscuit417 I found a book on Amazon called The cancer diet cookbook by Dionne Detraz., RDN. I liked it because the first section explains what foods to avoid and what foods to focus on. Then there is a reference to her recipes for different symptoms. For example, recipes that target fatigue. The recipes are 30-minute recipes and one pot meals. I must admit that some of the ingredients listed were not ingredients I was used to eating, like almond butter, or flaxseed or ground turmeric. However, I thought that this oncology nurse might know a thing or two about nutritional food for people who are going through chemo treatment and I decided to go buy those ingredients and just try out the recipes. I prepared the recipes as directed without changes and To my surprise I did like the recipes. They really made me feel better, or at least not terrible.

Im on round 7 of 12. Lost my hair, little tingle toes but thats it! The fear and panic i got 2 days before was the worst. I use lime juice 50/50 with orange juice to settle my stomach.

Thank you Tracy for leaving a comment and I hope that the side effects are minimal for you. Please remember to drink the water even if you are not a water drinker. It will help you a lot! My doctor encouraged me to figure out a way that I can drink the water instead of saying that I can’t. So I figured out a way and it made a huge difference for me. Nutrition matters too…eat protein in each meal. I wish you well on your journey.
