Should You Submit Coins To Be Graded? • Should You Get Your Co...
Here's the NGC version on how to submit coins using their online submission service ua-cam.com/video/NbtN5b9sGTg/v-deo.html
please let me ask how many coins l have in 1982D 1982 1968S 1977D I don't know how to sell
I’m new to numismatics and collecting. PCGS will only accept coins in capsules. Must be submitted in Mylar flips?
@@romeowhiskeylima556 nope but that is what they prefer, but you should be calling them to be certain since I don’t do it other ways.
I have some coins I want sell them . How much cost for each to up graded ,I really need some sold what to do should I clean them or not? Should I just sell them like that
I have a usa nickel 1965 1943 few white ( steel) 1952 1958 and many others
Great job! Yesterday I spent hours researching how to send in coins to be graded, but couldn't find a video to walk me through the process. Then "BOOM" here it is. thanks Daniel!
Thanks Jim! I am glad it helped.
I always told my wife you are the best person I can trust to send my coins. I have many wheat pennies. Lincoln's. So many I can't believe I did it. Thank you so much. Bless you.
Sorry but I do not accept submissions or attribute errors or varieties.
Thank you Daniel, I appreciate your guidance! I'm learning a lot from your videos. Your a honest man. And I wish you continued success.
Thanks a lot for this video Daniel! Been a collector for years, but have never submitted coins to be graded. I bypassed this video back when you posted it because I thought I’d be an NGC guy, but now I’ve decided to submit some Eagles and want to go through PCGS. Appreciate the walkthrough!
Thank you for taking the time to show us all how it's done. I'm sure it's going to help a lot of people. You seem like such a kind person Daniel. Great job on this video.
Thank you Susan! Your commented is much appreciated!
Excellant video to help understand the submission process, as well as show the expense that go into these that a lot don't realize. When I submit, I always write my guess on the grade on paper before sending off, then I am just as anxious to compare what my guess was to the actual graded coin when it returns... I am close on most, but rarely correct on majority... much
more to learn here...
I’m trying to get rid of about 300 Lincoln cents error coins, I have been trying to find someone to come and see what I have and I’ve found your videos have helped me to get someone over to my house to look at my collection, and they are coming to me! Got me pumped..... thanks bud I appreciate
it
Thank you so very much for helping others out. i just did my first submission and wasn't scared because of your video.
Nice
Getting ready to send my first set of coins for grading....Thanks for the instruction and thanks for the advice tips
Super helpful, I'm looking to do my first submission and I'm definitely paranoid that I'm going to screw up something. I'm planning on seeking the help of the Coinhelpu Facebook family as far as grading options, etc. I can't wait, I'm scared, anxious, and excited all at the same time. I've been watching Blueridgesilverhound for a long time and he suggested Coinhelpu for additional education. Y'all are so priceless. Thanks so much for all the valuable info.
Thank you! I appreciate your comment and you will do fine!
Great video! Looking at the pgcs site was a little intimidating until your awesome video. Nervous, for sure. Hate to send something I think is worth something and it's not. Lol. I think to join was $150.00. Plus sending your coin to get graded is extra if I'm not mistaken. But, got to jump in eventually. But your expertise is greatly appreciated. I've must if reread thier web site 3 times but your video is very detailed. Thank you Daniel
Thanks for this video. Takes a little of the nervousness out of my first submission. Be watching the PCGS submission next. Until the next 1. Thanks.
This is my first time submitting coins to PCGS. Your video is very helpful; turned me from nervous to confident. Thanks.
Glad to hear this, thank you
Hi Daniel, and thank you for your very informative and honest video. A tiny suggestion, I just shipped the first batch of coins in nearly 20 years to PCGS and do not know how to ship Registered Mail. So many rules, regulations, correct tape, etc. It took two trips and two scoldings by the nice Post Office Lady, but I finally got them shipped. An updated or new video showing how to pack, wrap and ship coins in detail would be much appreciated. Al
Daniel,
Great video and step by step instructions. Very helpful. David

As a collector/stacker this video really helped me...It helped me to see I'm in the wrong business! ...:)...I think of all those pretty plastic holders ( I have a few) and it's a LOT of money! No wonder NGC got involved in it...This is big business!

Thank you so much you are a big help thank you
Thank you daniel, I am getting ready to submit some coins to PCGS I'm looking over my papers and I had no idea what I was going to choose. If I have any questions I will definitely email you thank you again
You're better off calling PCGS they have customer service for that.
Thank you for your help.
My first submission to PCGS (or any TPG) was the 2021 Morgan Dollars (3 full sets) and the shipping was the hardest part because I didn’t have the stuff they required just lying around and I had to go buy it.
Like the bubble wrap and coin flips. I asked them if I could just send the capsules and they said no but I could put the capsule in a flip if I wanted to so I had to go buy flips and bubble wrap.
Then I had to go buy labels because they wanted me to label the flip of each coin.
It was kind of a pain in the butt however the results I got made it worth it.
18 coins submitted.
14 MS70
4 MS69
Not bad considering I just sent everything and didn’t cherrypick or hold anything back.
Thanks for this video. I sent off my V75 Silver Eagle hoping for that 70.
Great video and great information!

very helpfull thank you
Thanks so much! :)
Great video made pretty simple! Thanks for the post...
Good stuff. Did not know the brown tape was needed for registered mail
It's only need to seal openings in the box, not needed otherwise.
I've had a beautiful 1880 shilling for close to 20 years now, and have always wanted to submit it, but have been afraid to because I didn't know about what leaving a coin in a flip can do and for a number of years I left it in the flip the dealer sold it to me in. It's still a gorgeous coin, but I feel like it might get some sort of weird grade because at certain angles, it has just the barest hint of a greenish tinge near the edge and it sounds like what people claim is considered environmental damage from the time it was in the flip. I've had people tell me to not bother sending it in because it's a foreign coin, or because if I never plan on selling it (and I don't) there really isn't any reason to do it. I personally would just love to see it grade out as MS as I've always felt it is, but never really been sure if I want it bad enough to pay the fees involved :D
👍 Thanks very helpful, good vd.👌
Thanks!
Hi Daniel
I've been marathon watching some of your videos. I find them to be very helpful. I have one question pertaining to submitting a coin.
If I select MS65 will this give the TPG a preconceived notion that it will grade out at 65 and no higher?
I think I know the answer, it works the same in reverse as wel. Example AU instead of 65. What makes me ask is the shipping charge. If by good fortune it grades MS66 what happens?
Again thank you for what you do.
Thanks!
Excellent video, I’m thinking about sending some coins to PCGS and this video is gonna be so useful. By the way, do you happen to have a video explaining how to sell your coins on Heritage Auctions? If not, can you do one?
To sell coins on Heritage you will need to call them and arrange that and send your coins to them. I might cover that in a video but it's not a lengthy subject.
Cool.
Thanks.
Hi Daniel, I love your videos thank you so much! I have some old pennies that are in great condition. I want to get them graded but I'm not sure if I need to wipe them down or leave them alone before I send them in could you give me some advice in this area? Thanks so much! And keep up the great work!
If you need to wipe them down and they're common years then they're not worth sending off for grading.
Thanks Daniel for the info I am am thi king of submitting some coins.
Hey, new to the channel! I've been binging every video you have, great info! I would really suggest editing out your personal info. Just had a pang of paranoia for you. Go Browns! Hope you're not a Bengals fan 😂
Thanks but this is my business information so is not meant to be private. I want people to know where my shop is at.
@@CoinHELPu Oh nice, makes sense! I'm up in the North east of Ohio. Might have to make a trip and check some coins out at some point!
interesting video very helpful.
Thank you
Thank you buddy 🌸
Hello friend, thank you very much for answering my questions, i appreciate that thank you again.
Question - I do a lot of junk silver and occasionally stumble across something interesting. For example - I got a slew of 1936d Washington quarters in a roll recently. Like 8 of them. Red book had them at like $55 in xf 40. I think they are close to xf for most of them.
The question is this. Maybe they come back 30 or 25. Not worth $50+ each. If you hold on to something like that for 25 years and have it slabbed - could there be value in doing this with coins? I’m mostly on the silver side of this and not so much the numismatic. However, it’s been nice getting some of these, some walkers, and some mercs along the way which might fetch some value 20-30 years down the road based on mintage and/or condition.
What’s your thoughts with some of the ‘junk’ silver which is way better than good or very good and may be key dates - but don’t rise to those $100 values, yet.
Part of me feels that with inflation, maybe it’s a $25 coin I got for junk value at $3. I slab it and break even or even lose $10. In 25 years, with inflation, maybe that $25 coin is now a $100 coin - and something with low mintage that is now 100+ years old might be more scarce.
Everything I see points to people getting AU or above slabbed. Is there a value in getting some of the better ‘junk’ slabbed if we plan on holding on to it for 20-30 years to build out a collection?
No one can really answer your question like that, demand and popularity is more of the value than inflation. You will have to go back in time to see what common graded coins where worth 20-30 years ago and compare to now.
Good info
thanks for the video this will be my first time sending a coin is better to send one coin are several coin
Cheaper to send more than one for shipping cost.
thanks sir
Thanks
When submitting a attribution or verity do you write it on the card on the flip? IE: ddo,ddr , or fs-??? Or just the number from the list and hope they find it ?
Interesting..
thanks for the video, do you need PCGS membership to submit coins for grading ?
Yes, but it's better to contact the company and talk to them.
Hello great video. I am new to coins and have some that my grandpa gave me. I was wondering what would happen if you put a very low desired value on it to lower your cost. Is that fine to do?
Good question. If you send a gold coin that is worth $1,300 and claim less they can still hold up your submission until you pay the appropriate fees. If you send in an UNC 1932 quarter under the MS60 value and it grades MS65 or so then you would be alright. It just depends on case to case basis.
I just submitted a family heirloom for grading. Thanks for your video, it was helpful, but I must admit I'm still scared to death.
Daniel, I just found a 1968 S proof nickel with a RPM on the mint mark! Should I send that in?
I have two coins I am trying to get authenticated & graded that in over 40 years collecting I have never seen. The 1925 Lincoln penny with unusual markings,as well as the 1972 Lincoln penny with three errors
Love your videos, very informative...ps you have a store coin right,,if you do
Do you have Bolivian coins or currency...thanks
Thanks for watching and you comment. We might have some, but very little and if we still do it would be the common coins and currency.
CoinHELPu what is your website..to checkout
It's portsmouthcoinshop.com I am still working on adding inventory and all we have up is US Coins.
This was very helpful but I have a question, what do you prefer NGC or PCGS?
PCGS by a small margin
all my coins like my Jefferson coins were collected when i was 12 years old and I learned how to grade coins now, i am 68 now and have not touched those coins in all those years. If wait to send to PCGS to get my collections in order before i die and my learning grading was a learn process and if my grade were so far off should I use the grades I choose for each coin or should I try to regrade the coins now. Also, the pricing was that per coin submitted or based on a complete shipment of coins. I sent my Baseball cards in its cost me 11.00 per card similar, right?
Grads $$$
Awesome video i’m thinking of sending my 1903 Indian head but I’m not 100% sure about it it’s in pretty decent shape at least fine condition or above which kind of coins do you think that are worth sending because I even have a couple of 1960s on the reverse with full steps on the building
You check PCGS's price guide to see what they must grade before they're worth the money to send in. I don't send anything to PCGS unless it's going to be worth $100 or more.
Ok thank you I’ll check it out I will end up still standing in that 1903 penny just to see what it comes out to and the other ones I’ll do more research on thank you 👍🏻
