- The Denver Broncos drop to 1-5 after a 19-8 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. Russell Wilson struggled, finishing 13-of-22 for 95 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception. With the team also hinting at trading Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy, is it time for Denver to bench Russ? Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, LeSean McCoy and James Jones debate on whether it is now Jarrett Stidham time or not.

Shady is of this weird notion that the Broncos would be benching Russ to try to win...no, they would be benching Russ in order to guarantee the tanking and get what they can out of Russ, if anything.
They're losing regardless. They don't have to do anything to guarantee the "tanking" other than show up and receive the beating by the other team
Ummm George Patton! ANYONE? He gets to hide like a craven looney behind Russell and Sean when HE made the mistake of bringing one of those two if not both of them in. He collecting free easy money right now!
Are we sure rus is better than Jared s? Because I’m not?
Best way to tank is leave Russ in.
He said leave him out there because they are still losing 😂😂😂 you took that totally wrong 😂😂😂 he's saying get the number 1 pick that way lmfao 😂🤷🏾
"Everybody gotta get a bench" 😂😂😂😂😂
Yo Shady keeps it a buck all the time, he ain’t lying that offensive line is sus.
If you told me two years ago that the Broncos would be better off with Drew Lock and two First Round Picks than Russ......
Huge facts
Drew Lock has looked good playing in preseason and when he subbed in for Geno Smith on MNF. It had me thinking that Drew could start.
I'm so sick we could started this rebuild 2 yrs ago so many more packs but 2 top 5 picks that's tough
Bruh... Crazy that they sunk so much into RW😂😂. One of the biggest fleeces in nfl history

Because he operates like a military general. Good luck trying to critique that.
To be fair he Sean doesn't have good players to work with

@@maskedman5657Can't cry foul now. Nobody forced him to join that team. He had time to figure out and decide if it was a good fit and if he had enough talent to coach the team to winning seasons. Not buying that line.
We have to remember that Peyton was under Bill Parcels, which is where his no nonsense style comes from and worked so successfully in New Orleans. I'm still flaggergasted how this has gone so far bad and wrong so quickly.
Wilson didn't even look comfortable last night, he looks like he's already defeated and saying "fck this sh!t"...Like he's in a relationship he don't wanna be in, he only staying for the kids and drink a 5th everyday after work...Get that man outta Denver 😂
He hasn’t “looked comfortable” since arriving last year in Denver to camp wearing his own jersey.

Wrong.
He needs a running game…Pete already gave the blueprint….
They were running the ball well in the first half. Stopped watching after the half but they were moving the ball. Pass protection wasn’t there at all and Russ looks scared to throw
🏈👻
This is just my opinion: I honestly DON'T beleive that sean Payton came into the building wanting to build up Russ's confidence or even considering him an asset to the team. He came in, as the saying goes, to trear Russ down, humiliate him, send him further into the abyss. Payton's gigantic ego, the thing that enters the room before he does, will not allow him to acknowledge that he too, is screwing up the team. He will not entertain the thought that he may be wrong about anything. From the onset, he set about creating the narrrative that. if this team shhould fail this year, it will be Russ's fault, not his. And as we know, say something often enough, the perception DO BECOME THE REALITY. I have come around the the idea that Sean Payton is a Paper Tiger: Someone living off reflective, PAST glory with not a clear idea of what he's doing in the present. I strongly do not beleive that he knows what he's doing with the Broncos, not in th least. Therefore, he's easier to make Russ the full scapegoat for ALL that's wrong with the team. it's never going to be his fault tha tthe team sucks. after all, he's the football genius, you know? I don't think he has the respect of the team at all. I think he's extremely arrogant, with an ill-concealed nasty streak a mile long.
Bro only went to one Super Bowl with Drew Brees
@@joelopez7459 Much like now we're finding out that the Patriots dynasty was a lot more about Tom Brady than it was Bill Belichick, we're in the process of finding out that the Saints run of success was more about Drew Brees than Sean Payton.
Wilson sucks
@joelopez7459 To be fair he should've been to 2 but we all know that no call on pass interference against the rams.
Exactly. That’s why he came stating the Russ doesn’t have to kiss babies narrative. Ryan Clarke called this on Get up saying that Payton will use Russell Wilson as the scapegoat which is what you are seeing. Whether he’s playing or not the coaching is the problem. Called this before the season as Payton is the main problem but Broncos fans are going to see that Payton is past it along with Wilson but it’ll take longer.
It’s nuts because he was legitimately one of the most well rounded and talented QBs ever. Like I don’t think anyone has ever had the combo of arm talent + mobility he has had. On top of his crazy scrambling ability he legitimately has an amazing arm. His deep ball was magical
michael vick?
He never developed as a pocket passer though. Now that he's older his athleticism isn't there and he's scared to get hit.

These same commentators were saying he was playing well this season last week.
He is playing Ok....basic but want turning the ball over. He just doesn't look the same
True. But there seems to be, at the moment at least, a media omerta shielding Sean Payton. The SPEAK crew got the memo, because last week they were real close to calling Payton out.
The last 3 games Russ had with Seattle (when his finger was fully healed) he had an average qb rating of 115 with a td/int ratio of 9-to-1. That type of skill doesn't just disappear. The Broncos have broken this man. They have ruined this man's career. The blame should fall squarely on ownership and coaching. Give this man a roster that is built to help him succeed. It is obvious to me that Sean Payton has no desire to do that.
Bruh the dude has 12tds/4 ints and has passed for 1305 has better passer rating than Pat mahommes this season he’s top 10 or 5 in every passing category and people are acting like he’s out there being a liability
Sean payton just got there this off-season nobody could come in there and fix the dumpster fire Hackett/fangio/VJ had created. And russ wasn't playing bad until this game.

Or The Cowboys… Dak for Russ
Jets or Patriots just might make that trade for Russ 😂😂
Bro… teams traded for Jared Goff… stop.
The Broncos could pay part of his contract. They'd be paying a lot of money to cut him.
When I look at the face and the eyes of Russ, it just looks like he lost the passion for the game as if he ready to hang it up. It's like he's just not there.
That’s a lie he scrambled and dove forward late in the game risking his body on the play to get the first down. no one half assed does that look at Carson wentz at the end of his time in Philly that was a guy who lost his passion. It’s just that he can’t make magic anymore and is too small to sit in the pocket and play without relying on athleticism.
These comments clearly tell me that they aren't watching football and just watching the highlights.

I love the SPEAK crew but.... Russell's stats are top 10 - 15 in quarterbacks. Why do we bring up the stats that make Russ look bad (95 yards) but don't mention the good stats (4th in the league in yards).
Pretty good passer rating all year other than this week as well
Because all his numbers come when they’re down big and the game is already lost the clock just not zero yet.
Garbage time stats. Gtfoh
He fumbled the ball away to lose the game to the jets. He was not the reason why they beat the bears because that was the defense making the plays for him. He was horrible for almost 3 quarters against the commanders and was bad against the horrible raiders. He has not been good. The stats says he has been good but watch him play and he has not been good. And then last night he was horrendous and that’s an insult to horrendous.
Garbage time stats. Stats alone don't win you games. Stats and GREAT QB PLAY does. And if you look at his QBR (28th in the league at 38.8) it clearly shows he's not doing enough to win games. You saw it in the Raiders game. You saw it in the Commanders game. And you saw it both against the Jets when he fumbled, and against the Chiefs where he's looked the worst he's ever been
Even when the receiver's are open Rus still throwing interception. Why play out two years. Last year and half of this year is way to much
Before this game he had like two so how?😂
Dude you got a bottom five WR corps do you have a running back in Denver? Who is he?

Russ is a cautionary tale of not betraying the coach who trusted and drafted you.
Hackett is the second coach Russ tries to shoot down... and everytime it backfires. Payton knows this, and can't get rid of Russ fast enough. Hence the all-out blaming game.
This aged well, fkn love it
Russ has played great all year but this week went up against a real defense that people are not giving credit. Russ has not been the problem he doesn't have a #1 guy to throw to and can't put the whole team on his back. If this is an honest evaluation year russ is not the problem and is a solid building block that you already paid for.

Russ will not be the quarterback for them next year. He will either be benched or cut he will not be playing for them next year.
only smart answer I've seen on this topic
Building a roster around Russ will take at least 2-3 season, and he has a very unique skillset. Is there any team willing to take the time and money to build around a 34 year old QB?
I think Wilson needs a new cell phone, and give Marshawn his phone #

The teams that come to mind in a trade would be the Steelers, Titans, Falcons maybe the Commanders. Not everyone is going to draft a qb next year.
The problem with the Broncos has not been Russell Wilson. At least not this season it hasn't. The guy was literally 4th in passing TDs.
The problems lie way over just Russell. The playcalling has been predictable, their personel is completely trash, and their defense has been disgusting to look at. The players look already defeated.
By benching Russel Wilson you only exacerbate the bigger problem because you're just scapegoating all the problems on Russ. Like how hard is it for y'all to actually watch a game?

Russel Wilson is about to be 35 next month. His career is not over, but another team giving him a chance at a starting job is slim to none! Maybe Atlanta will do it and Ciara will be back to the ATL, but that’s it!
His best hope is probably being a back up behind a guy on his last legs as a starter, like a Zach Wilson, or Mac Jones type. A starter that the coaching staff has either given up on, or is losing faith in. Think Kurt Warner behind Matt Leinart as a starter with the Cardinals about 15 years ago. Wuts benching Russell Wilson gonna do exactly?
I watched the game. As an ex-football coach, I saw an offensive scheme that was horribly ineffective. Receivers running down the field making no attempt to get open, no clearing patterns to find open areas, nothing. It is not Russel's fault, that all falls on the coaching staff. Russel had to take it upon himself to scramble to make positive yards.
What couch coaches don't understand is maybe he doesn't have what it takes to run an effective scheme. He could be lacking that accurate arm talent, maybe the O line isn't there for the run game.
@@FuckingFootballzzz Yeah, lots of excuses. Over a 4 year period I developed players and schemes for defense and offense using available amateur players. My teams lost 2 games, won 2 championships with 3 different quarterbacks. Coaches have to evaluate strengths and weaknesses and develop around that. You can not develop and offense or defense and not have the players to run it then blame it on the players. But thanks for your unqualified opinion.
Broncos need to bench Wilson before his injury clause kicks in.
Some people think Jarrett Stidham has the potential to be a starting QB, so might as well give him a shot this season and see what happens.
I'm among those people. TO the point I hoped the Jets would have called the Broncos to trade him in. Peace, Child70's.
Everyone blaming Russ as if he's the coach. I blame Sean Payton he hasn't done anything to get Russ a O line or running game & the Defense couldn't hold on to a lead How is it all on Russ
And that's Sean Paytons fault? When you take a look at it, and notice this team has gone through 4 coaches in that past 8 years in which we missed the playoffs, how can you still blame them? It's like, maybe it's not their fault. There's only so much a coach can do. At the end of the day, the players are the ones executing, and it's the front offices job to put together the talent on the field.
@@tonyc.796 I agree. I just don't like how the blame is being put on Russ instead of the organization as a whole

RW was ALWAYS more hype than good performance. He IS what he has ALWAYS been. He took credit for being great when he was just a manager on a great team in Seattle
Quick change? How do you do that with the contract Wilson has?
She said Carson Wentz did not win a SB? REALLY?
How can people keep saying his play hasn't been up to par when statistically he's good and playing in a 100% uncomfortable scheme
Stats are only one side of the coin.
wilson is starting to look alot like donnovan Mcnabb his last few years in the leauge.
I saw somewhere that if they don't release Russ in the next 11 days then they're locked into paying him a lot of his contract. I think if releasing him and taking the cap hit is possible, they should go for it.
At this point, I think it would be best to accept the fact that this Russell Wilson deal has failed miserably. Go head and bench Russ and tank for a rebuild.
it hurts growing up watching russell wilson and seeing him decline with age as time goes on. he aint my favorite of all time, but he's def up there. he was playing in a time where i was falling in love with the nfl and football in general for the very first time.
I wouldn’t get down on yourself yet. You can’t be this historically bad without 40% of it being the coach. That’s just not how football works. And he has a bad team too. It’s either 1. His head just isn’t in the game anymore and it’s not his top priority or 2. He needs to find a new team. I’ve watched Russ since he came in the league. He’s not a bad quarterback.
Also, sometimes quarterbacks just don’t fit the system they get into. Peyton manning literally demanded the broncos change their offense to pistol when he got there, and quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson or Tua tagoivoiloa wouldn’t be as good without their systems either. That’s not to say that’s a bad thing. But most quarterbacks cannot fit every system. Just not possible

As for what Wilson has shown. Who would want to take on the cap space for his service? I don't see a middle of the pack team or even a great team who looses their QB. Willing to do that.
The small mind says that if you don’t have immediate success, then start looking around to get rid of people instead of building, camaraderie, and building execution with the plays given.
"Imagine Caleb Williams with Sean Payton"? Either Payton came in with the intention of tanking and making Russ the scapegoat, or Sean Payton should not be let within 5 miles of Caleb Williams.
It’s wild to me that no one wants to give this man his flowers. Over 40,000 yards in passing, over 300 TDs, I saw a stat that showed he is on the list of one of the best TD/INT ratio and I believe he’s on the list of qbs with the most rushing yards. Broncos definitely don’t have a WR core who are dawgs. Give him 2 WRs who want the ball and I bet the offense will look different. He always threw it up for Lockett or Baldwin to go get it.
Did they miss his stats better the Patty's this yr? Or he was 2nd in td in the league before playing kc?
As a broncos fan please bench Russ. We need that high draft pick to get our next QB.
Russ is not playing like the Russ of the Seahawks years but the WR’s are not getting open, either. Offensive line is offensive, too! Payton isn’t impressing me, either. Brees made Payton look better than he is, like Brady did for Bellicek.
If everyone around you are playing under expectations in a team game how can you expect the QB to be there playing his best ball that’s impossible to play your best ball in that kinda turmoil any normal human would lose confidence and play under their potential 💯
Russ has become the scapegoat. Put in Jared Stiddam you going to start magically winning games ? The team is bad, not just Russ
Rusell Wilson current TD/Int ratio as i write this is 12/4. I think its a team problem. Not just Russ. Coming from a Seahawk fan.
Maybe if they had a competent coaching like russ did in Seattle. Sean Payton had 5 losing seasons with Drew Brees
Bench that amount of money is killing the whole team
And no one is going to trade for Wilson because the whole League saw that he is nothing without Pete
ask Brees to unretire. :)
Russell Wilson is supposed to be a future Hall of Fame NFL player? Now I'm not so sure?
They don’t even have a developmental QB that makes this move worth it in my opinion. They might as well let him play and get the best look they can at their receivers, running backs, linemen, etc.
Send him to the boys I’ll Russ over Dak 🤷🏽♂️
Thing is the broncos receivers are not nearly as good as what he had in Seattle. They can’t get open and there’s just no chemistry except for Marvin Mims. Just compare his last few highlights as a Seahawk and now as a Bronco. That’s why I’m very curious to see what he can do with the young receivers that step up if they trade away Jeudy and Sutton. He needs hungry play makers
I said this before, when he was in Seattle he doesn’t see the open receivers and he can’t read defenses. He was carried by a great defense and good running game
Beast Mode carried him n LOB
My question is why is Payton getting a pass? There's clear problems with coaching, he deserves a huge chunk of the blame for how the season is going
Remember, the the rough start the Trevor Lawrence hat? The team is on top of the division now with a different coach a Super Bowl winning coach, who did not win the Super Bowl last year. Sean Payton is a Super Bowl winning coach. He has worked with people like Drew Brees. However, six games does not guarantee that a Super, winning quarterback and a super winning coach can win the Super Bowl. That team needs a lot of help all around and the easiest target is always the quarterback.
How many teams are going to tank, and are there teams tanking now, so they can draft that amazing qb???????
Soooooo…. What happened to everyone saying Sean Payton around once he got in the door????
What about benching linemen who cannot block
Denver should keep starting Wilson, so they can tank for his replacement. If you bench Wilson, his trade value makes a huge drop. More than if you kept him in.
Get that #1 Pick for sure then get rid of Russ next year, you shoulda did that last year when Seahawks had your #1 Pick we still got a #5 I'll take it but could have been higher.
Good topic guys!
the entire Broncos defense should just pull a Vontae Davis.
All good points , Russ needs to look towards next year by staying healthy ..
It’s amazing Russ putting up decent numbers meanwhile dak is not. But they saying bench Russ and saying give dak another shot.
Russell is a Magician he's at his best on the run. He's an unorthodox QB with his own style. Why do all those Broncos analysts, coaches not see or understand that. Obviously last year showed he was not a Peyton, Brees or Brady type pocket passer. He does his best on the drill scene, the Scramble, broken plays.
All they got to do is look at his Seahawk tenure & establish the run
The great thing about commenting on Football is that you don’t actually have to go out there and do it.
Russ has thrown 12 TDs to 4 INTs and has completed 66% of his passes. Who are you going to replace him with? The team's struggles are more than him!
Sean Payton isn’t trying to move the playbook so Russ can be more comfortable wideouts aren’t getting open not even on a hitch route it’s playing and the Defensive Coordinator needs to be gone before another game russ is doing everything when receivers can’t get open who are you going to throw it to ?
Benching him is pointless. There isn't an option on the team or free agency right now that will save the season. Trading him is not an option because there is no way any team wants him for what he's still owed plus whatever is given up in such a trade and Since he's such a huge cap hit if you try to move off him I think it's better to keep playing him and hope he eventually figures out how to strive under Sean Payton's system.
