Trapped in a Culture, Afrika Bambaataa and the Zulu Nation, Part 32 of 44, Lord Cashus D Part 2

  • In Part 2 of his 2017 interview, Lord Cashus D explains the organizational structure of the Zulu Nation, TC Izlam, and how the Zulu Nation can weather the storm.
More on the lawsuit against Afrika Bambaataa and the Zulu Nation here: www.metropolis...
Bronx-Lance Taylor took on the name Afrika Bambaataa and started a hip-hop awareness group. But former members say the Universal Zulu Nation was a violent gang that disintegrated into a cult with Bambaataa as the god-head. In 2016, several men came forward with disturbing tales of what they say took place from the 1970s into the 1990s. Although Peace, Unity, Love, and Having Fun was the motto of the Zulu Nation, Bambaataa fashioned the organization’s doctrine after Malachi York’s Nuwabian Nation, the Nation of Islam, the Moorish Science Temple, and the 5% Nation.
“Today, the Zulu Nation counts hip-hop royalty like Nas, Lil Wayne, and Big Boi as affiliates, in addition to younger rappers like Joey Bada$ and Freddie Gibbs. Acclaimed TV series The Get Down-not to mention countless documentaries and a recent showcase at Cornell University-credit Bambaataa with uniting a divided neighborhood, offering a way out of gang life, and helping to launch a movement that would place African American art forms at the center of global popular culture.” wrote Dave Wedge, Vice Magazine.
Since the story broke, hip hop has yet to come to terms with the importance of this subject.
In this series, original interview footage is being shown to the public for the first time, encouraging a broader conversation and deep dive into what may have taken place.

I'm sitting here listening to him talk about Bambaataa and he's still loyal to him. I couldn't be loyal to a friend that molested children. No. We can't be friends.

Thank you for not cutting him off - there was so much he said that allows for follow up questions but better to let him dribble. Over-explanation , random tangents and giving answers to questions not asked says a lot about guilt.

The contradictions of the Zulu Nation are disturbing on so many levels. Even if it were only one child, it’s one child too many and what happens to the least of us, happens to all of us so we cannot say “it’s not our business” and within the same breath say we’re about community/humanity business.
Furthermore, I’m tired of seeing people with despicable tendencies and shady characters prop themselves up as honorable pillars in our communities and try to sound so deeeeep in an attempt to try to come up and stay up on our backs. May they all be exposed, dismantled and the authentic brothers and sisters that have integrity within and for the uplifting of our communities rise in these times so the real work and healing can happen.

Who is this? Anyone who says "that's not my business" when they are referring to someone they hang around with means that they are aware to the dark side of that person and see or have an idea what is going on, but decide to turn a blind eye to it because of their self interest, yet he says he comes from light and truth - man, get out of here with that BS. Somewhere in his "oddball" mind he cannot comprehend that the head of the Zulu nation has been decapitated, and for inexcusable acts and behavior that should be punished. Hip Hop's First Gay Family is the perfect title for this docuseries. Thinking back, I always wondered if some old school artists were gay because of their demeanor - like Grandmaster Flash, and to each is own, but it would not be shocking if a lot of those artists who were down with Bam took part in his actions or are also gay or bi. Leila, you are probably barely pulling the curtain open to expose all the evil behind it. Sandman needs to come and drag everybody off the stage with that BS!

Firstly, thank you Ms. Wills for keeping this horrendous story alive and exposing the trail of a sexual predator on little boys. What is sad, many of these rappers and most of those in the so called Zulu nation still, to this day, want to give the predator a pass and seem that the innocence and dignity of black boys are a just sacrifice to elevate hip hop and to maintain their income stream. I have come to the conclusion that hip hop is a calamity on the black community as no music form has ever had the audacity to somehow think it is above and beyond the culture - black culture - that it came from and that it was a front and a vehicle for pederasts and podophiles to unleash their insatiable appetite for young children, unabated with total impunity and immunity. To save hip hop, we have to turn a blind eye to the rape and sexual deviance, this is what these people say and believe. No doubt, Bambataa is the Jimmy Saville of Black culture and this is his legacy. When he dies, they'll probably be a documentary, like the one done on Michael Jackson, exposing him and asll those facilitators in rap and the so called Zulu nation.

These New York hip hoppers have delusions of grandeur. Yes 'they' created a grand new genre of music, but they didn't have the social impact that they seem to think they did, a la The Nation of Islam, outside of New York.
For most of the world, the Zulu nation was strictly associated to hip hop music. Public Enemy did more to facilitate social change than any of them.
Once Hip Hop was co-opted by gangster rap, who was talking zulu?
