Thank you for this Sean. I just posted six videos (going live at midnight tomorrow on @remprompt) where I scripted everything in notepad... I literally spent TWO weeks writing out everything, including all the information displayed in the Description part of the video on UA-cam (tags, description, affiliate links, feedback, etc.). I talk about writing prompts for Copilot AI. I spent the last few weeks going over dozens of THINK Media videos and taking NOTES! I totally agree with the need to script everything. Thank you for this video!
And in another video he has abdaal talking about not scripting anything and just having an outline. Too many conflicting ideas. Anyway i think the same ideas from copywriting apply to videos..
Right on POINT, per usual! ASMR is such a niche UA-cam category, so educating myself on how to read and utilize my channel's analytics has proven to be CRUCIAL in its growth. I've only had an active channel for the past 6 months now, but I quickly realized how important THUMBNAIL and intro are! THANK YOU for another incredibly helpful video! Your layout is so easy to follow along with and understand; which is PERFECT for a 40-something mom-brained, ADHD-ridden UA-cam creator like myself! 😂😂😂
Aha! I e been opening with music and visuals! Now, I’m going to embed me speaking first… with hook…,then play the musical intro! Can’t wait to try this!
On the first of August this year I have decided I wanted to document kind of my experience learning to Fly FPV drones, well I probably haven't planned this well as now I am posting, or try to post video of me flying around my drone. I think the channel has grown well in the first month or little over, but I did noticed that I do struggle with audience retantion, some of my videos only retain like 17% of the viewers until the end and I mostly lose 50-60% of them after the first 30 seconds, I thought that especially my latest video would have done better in retantion but it actually turned out worse than the previous. I am still learning to edit and shot videos - trying to find and put in practice all the tips and tricks I can find and surely I will start planning my shots more deepely. I have to say tho, that I am still not so confident talking to a camera in an open area sourraunded by other people.
Love that as a new channel this sort of content is populating on my feed. Super helpful and informative for us newbies. I've gained about 40 subs in a month, baby steps but progress nonetheless. I'm feeling more confident with talking to the camera and trying new editing techniques which seems to be gaining traction. My set up is basic but not letting that stop me...Consistency is the key! Every new sub gives me that motivation to keep posting. We got this gang 💪
Thanks for another great video... I peaked at 81 and my 10th was 64 however I do have a lot of videos that drop off fast so I am going to work on that 1st 30 seconds. That has been one of my greatest challenges in my niche. I have experimented with intro vs no intro but now realize the intro wastes most of that first 30 seconds and our regular viewers like it but new viewers may not and leave. So, lets see in about a month or two if these numbers improve.... again, thank you for your content! Big fan!!!
Lessons I need to keep learning. Your detailed, structured tips have helped me over the years. I too often jump into a video without that focus on the intro and it is difficult to fix in the editing as a result.

Hey man great video. The HelloFresh cooking metaphor at the end was spot on. You can be told exactly how to do something step by step but if you’re not used to executing it all yourself, it’s still a challenge and an opportunity to grow. Like you said, the food still came out fine, certainly not inedible, but to have a truly excellent meal or UA-cam video takes more than just reading a recipe card. That’s the journey we’re on.
Sean, can you please explain to me when you decide a channel is a failed channel and it is time to start over vs. changing the strategy on that channel? I have been trying to figure this out because I am currently planning to either re-launch my channel after a year off or start a new channel. The niche and video topics will not be significantly different. My existing channel has just over 10k subscribers, but I had plateaued in the last year or two and finally felt I needed to regroup and take a break and come back fresh. I'd love some insight into this. You have been a great help to me over the years. Thank you for your generosity and wisdom.
I credit my success of understanding the analytics of my channel and learning when to schedule my videos to this channel. Thanks Sean and Think Media team.
I think I'm doing well because I have really bad anxiety. I'm going to keep trying. I've taught myself about lighting and editing even though I'm still not good at it. I thought I'd have 20 views and I've had some that are close to 7- 10 k views. I've only been at it for 3 months and I'll keep trying.
At 212 subs here in under 4 months, my main focus is just getting my content quality up and improving with every video. So far I think my content has been getting better but it’s still not where I want it to be but it’s getting there (I think idk lol). But hey I’ll keep at it.
Go to youtube, make sure you’re signed into your account, then click on your avatar in the top corner then click on UA-cam studio, (theres also also a UA-cam studio app you can get for your phone or tablet) and then click on analytics on the left hand side of the page.
I have been wanting to start a channel and jump in for a while… finally decided to just go for it. Im only a couple weeks in, but almost to 500 subscribers already… I never really expected it to catch on so quickly. Great tips and advice! - subscribed :))
On that retention graph I can never tell if people leave or just skip ahead. I find myself just naturally skipping ahead 20 - 30 seconds when I watch other people's videos because I don't want to watch an intro, but I don't actually leave the video.
I didn't know that I could do most of this. I'm a booktuber. Booktubers do tag videos that are sort of like interviewing yourself on a topic with the questions provided by someone else. I tried coming up with a way to add in all the things you said to put in the first 30 seconds. I couldn't do it. I set the agenda and established authority. I'm not sure how I'd do all that with a To Be Read, monthly wrap-up video, or a book review either. It might be easier with a review. It's late. I'll have to look at it again. Thanks for the ideas.
Thank you, Sean. I needed this encouragement and these wonderful tips. I have my channel for close to three years and I have 140 subscribers and still trying to get monetized. It’s very slow going, but I learned a lot from VRA and I realize it takes time.💖
Great Tips! We are at 930 subscribers and 3,800 watch hours but only have a month until our biggest Video will hit its 1 year mark and we will loose 2800 of those hours😅. Our analytics show that last month we hit 202 hours of watch time so we should get monetized if We stay on track, This shows that my intros have to be Better and I need to find the time to be more CONSISTENT! Once again thank You for your Tips! I’m putting every spare minute into our UA-cam Channels!!! Stressful!!!!😅
Been chipping away at my channel more over these last few months to offer advice for indie filmmakers trying to make low budget movies and this channel in particular is always a great resource of help to dip into to find ways to help my channel grow!
Mind Blown ... as soon as I started watching I realized scripting my videos would actually work. It would flow better, talking will have less umms and uuhhs ... etc. I got this within the first 2 minutes!

I recently had a growth surge where i went from 15 Subscribers after 4 years to 289 in ln just 3 months. It all came from implementing Shorts and getting better at title, description, thumbnail, tags. My views on Shorts views got really good and just a week ago everything died again and im down to like as low as 4 views on a Short its crazy i dont know what changed and im very new to all this so im unsure of what i could do, so i watch alot of tutorials looking for something i can take Im a one man staff 😆 i just want to have steady growth im not having unrealistic expectations just need to know how to get my views back up again, so far nothing is working i was getting steady 500 views and subs everyday for several months now nothing Even going over 1k and 2k a couple times.
Very informative. The video’s timing and cuts from scene to scene also help convey a message of “audience retention” strategy. Also the different cameras and angles are captivating. Well done.
Small and new channel here. My channel is not growing yet, but I enjoy the process so far. I think that is the key to make UA-cam videos. Keep learning, keep pushing, and may we all grow for the better.
I'm over 1 million views since 2013. Despite getting better lighting and editing skills, views have tanked about 70% since 2019. I'm in a new state & work full time, so I've had less time to research until now. Thank you for this info!
About six months ago, I had an idea how to improve my church UA-cam channel. I watched other channels and noticed how predicable they were. I use a hook technique now as church UA-cam channels would just publish a video with someone just taking or having a countdown clock at the beginning. This same content everytime. As you can imagine, people would probably just click away! Not only do I put a unique 20-second hook on the beginning but use lots of not only visualy interesting B roll but captions on screen as well.
I don’t know about this, I watched a bunch of different accounts and the thing I love about all of them is that they are mostly unscripted. They are authentic and real. You tube is like any other social media platform, you need to put in the work and eventually the followers will come. Am I way off base?
I am a small channel with 15 subscribers and currently thankful to each and every one of them! It is a challenging as well as the most rewarding journey - especially the journey to monetization. You LEARN during this time so it's best to make your mistakes and learn from them during this period. Your initial subscribers are your TRUEST supporters because they will cheer you on even when you mess up. Never stop feeling gratitude. Sending love and luck to all my fellow small creators. We got this!
I got Killa Priest into a nightclub after one of his shows downtown Orlando, 20 years ago. He had left his wallet at his hotel and the security wouldn't let him in. At the venue he performed at, I pulled one of the promotional posters off the wall and got him to sign it. I showed it to security and got them to get the club manager outside so he could see the poster and Killah, Timbo King was with us as well. We got in and closed the club down. Good times. Lol

Been chipping away at my channel more over these last few months to offer advice for indie filmmakers trying to make low budget movies and this channel in particular is always a great resource of help to dip into to find ways to help my channel grow!
i liked this simply because Sean is SO good!
You guys have helped me a ton. I am monetized and growing
Mind Blown ... as soon as I started watching I realized scripting my videos would actually work.
It would flow better, talking will have less umms and uuhhs ... etc.
I got this within the first 2 minutes!
Am super pumped to start afresh in my journey after watching this. Thanks Sean
Thank you so much! THINK MEDIA
You're welcome!
This was so good!! I didn't set out to be a UA-camr but the Universe had other plans for me and I'm loving it lol!! Learning so much from you and want to hire your coaches
Your content is my go to when I need info, THANK YOU! It took me two years to press record📸
I appreciate the tip about optimizing the first 30 seconds of my videos. 😮
Think Media , I used to get views like posting a video and getting 10K views next day but then I gave up for some reason and didn’t post vids for 2 years and now that I started to grow again and will never give up , is there anything ya wanna say ?
Fantastic info, thank you. I’m used to teaching my subject in long form lessons & was looking for tips on how it would be done here. You nailed it. Starting my UA-cam journey soon
I recently had a growth surge where i went from 15 Subscribers after 4 years to 289 in ln just 3 months.
It all came from implementing Shorts and getting better at title, description, thumbnail, tags.
My views on Shorts views got really good and just a week ago everything died again and im down to like as low as 4 views on a Short its crazy i dont know what changed and im very new to all this so im unsure of what i could do, so i watch alot of tutorials looking for something i can take
Im a one man staff 😆 i just want to have steady growth im not having unrealistic expectations just need to know how to get my views back up again, so far nothing is working i was getting steady 500 views and subs everyday for several months now nothing
Even going over 1k and 2k a couple times.
Very informative. The video’s timing and cuts from scene to scene also help convey a message of “audience retention” strategy. Also the different cameras and angles are captivating. Well done.
Unbelievably amazing advice. Great video. Thank you!
Small and new channel here. My channel is not growing yet, but I enjoy the process so far. I think that is the key to make UA-cam videos.
Keep learning, keep pushing, and may we all grow for the better.
Thank you! Looking back at my own videos, my best ones are the ones where i accidentally did some of the things you are saying lol.
Thanks Sean for making this video! I gained a lot of valuable information from what you shared
I started UA-cam 13 years ago! Starting to get back on track again! Hope to reach even 1,000 subscribers! Fingers crossed!😊
Plus one sub from me :)
Good luck with your channel!
@@EmmasNatureEscapes awe! thank you so much Emma it means a lot!
What a great view with such helpful tips! I look forward to incorporating these into my videos moving forward!
I'm over 1 million views since 2013. Despite getting better lighting and editing skills, views have tanked about 70% since 2019. I'm in a new state & work full time, so I've had less time to research until now. Thank you for this info!
Thanks so much for this! Love to see all the encouragement in the comments!
Wow - this is exceptionally helpful content from a clear expert who has gone through the you tube rollercoaster and emerged triumphant at the end
I’m 2 weeks into posting on UA-cam and I love it!
I watched many of your videos and my channel reached 100k subs within 7 months!!
Wow congratulations you’ve definitely done something right ✅
I’m a small with a slow growth but I keep posting shorts! Maybe I should post more long form
Hilariously educational... Thanks for the AAA rule again. Sidebar: Ghostface Killah is my FAVORITE Wu-Tang member! lol
Well digested and thank you for these tips.
Small channels let’s keep grinding we got this 😊
✊🏻💯
Eye-opening and incredibly helpful.
Good luck to all of you reading my comment 💚
We can all grow together!
Absolutely love this! Applying this to my channel!
Thanks for the information and insight into the first 30sec of the video. 61 subs and counting.
I started in March hit 500 in August and less than a month later I have tripled! It’s so crazy how fast it can jump!!
Thanks THINK MEDIA.. great video
Thank you for this Sean😊
There are no if's and's or but's about it anymore: UA-cam is not merit-based; it's luck-based.
Ty for the advice! This will really help
Thanks Sean
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!!
Good times. Lol
This was very helpful. Thanks for this.
I just started my journey on UA-cam thanks man 😅
