Stopping in the middle of the tunnel like that is prohibited, unless it's for an emergency. The tunnel traffic is monitored. As soon as a car stops an automatic alarm goes to the tunnel supervision crew. You risk being fined if they catch you sightseeing in the tunnel like that. Stopping like this has infact become a huge problem for this particular tunnel. So much so that accidents have become quite frequent, due to tourists stopping to take pictures.
@@Torgersen94 Well, technically it's not legal. There is clearly a "no parking" sign right by where they've stopped (1:42). The authorities are constantly out in the local media saying "please do not stop in the tunnels!". Every time a car stops it triggers the tunnels ATS systems causing false alarms. Especially during the high tourist seasons there have been too many near accidents due to people stopping in the tunnels. Not wise. People stopping has become an ever increasing headache for the authorities. When the lærdalstunnel was initially opened the authorities did not mind people stopping. Some would say that the even encouraged it. But the ever increasing trend of tourists stopping has forced them to discuss new measures. We are just one small accident away from a complete ban.

The saying Lars told you about closing your eyes for a couple of sec when entering a tunnel was probably meant to be closing only one eye while you keep one eye open and then just open both as it gets dark. It really helps a lot when its bright outside in some tunnels. The more modern ones usually have bright light in the beginning and then fade it as you get in so your eyes can adjust.
A trick for the tunnels is using sunglasses in the daylight and just lift them up when you enter the tunnel. That way your eyes are better prepared for the darkness... Get some cheap flip up sunglasses that fits over your glasses. A lot better than closing your eyes for 2 seconds
A foreigner living in Norway here. Just to tell you about the shop prices.. at first glance everything seems pretty expensive but actually part of getting groceries in Norway is following all the discounts they have every week. Just by following them I have found a lot of high quality food for very low prices and have saved so much on food from that. They have some sort of a system. For example after 7 o'clock (if I am not mistaken) they put huge discounts on bread so you can find it very cheap. Also if some shops they give soon to expire fruits and veggies for free which is amazing. So if you plan to stay longer you might consider that. And also always look for the brand of the shop. They are the cheapest. :)

I think they got the right diesel. It did cost 22 NOK pr liter.
They specified on a reply to a similar comment that they used the normal diesel as the tax free alternative was seemingly clearly marked as tax free.
Back to your old Penguin habits I see. I'm going to upgrade you two to a pair of Polar Bears.
For some groceries, Kiwi is cheaper than Rema1000
So tell me, why is it that Pommie girls are such bloody stunners! They have the sexiest accent, and always a laugh and a smile, What is in the water?
there is a tunnel 32 km long in lærdal
6:55 våtedalen? 5mins from where i grew up lol
Get kneippbrød or loff, it is less than 10 krone.
Excellent.
Those slices of bread tho😳
You might be told to pay a road toll\tax. Bomring or gate tax? It's not enforced from turists. It's meant for the locals to pay for the road. So just ignore it.
You can not stop in the tunnels. It is not safe and not allowed.
Filling up with tax free Disel is only allowed for farmers and truckers ( 4:53 ), AVG FRI = tax free. I think you might wanna edit that out :D
There were three pumps, diesel, tax free and petrol. We used the diesel one so should be alright, it was just advertised quite large on the side
Are you going to drive to the far North?
You can reach Finland there, come through Lapland and South to reach Helsinki, where there's a shortish ferry to Estonia.
And costs get a bit cheaper in Finland compared to Sweden, definitely Norway, with nearly zero parking or toll road charges. Do it!!
It is frustrating that such a wonderful part of the world is so expensive for tourists. I gather it is because tax on goods is the main form of taxation, income tax is quite low for people who work there.
Remember to only close only one of your eyes before going into the tunnel 😂
Fjordtastic xox
Shocked at the "most replayed stats" on the timeline 😅
That Tunnel is something else was there a toll to pay?
How far north are you guys traveling :D? Going all the way up to Northcape?
We won’t have time, we need to be in southern estonia in just over a week
Velkomne til Norge. Hilsen fra en som bor i Haugesund by 😊
in Norway it's just reversed robery, the nice lady behind the cash-rigister: 2 cuccumbers, you better give me all yo money
@6:41 was that Roy Dotrice narrating ASOIAF?
It was indeed!
I told you about the App "too good to go", why dont you use it?
Why is it that people jumping in cold water always makes me laugh.
Talking about how expensive everything is, BP was 196.9 for unleaded over in South east London today! WTF!
😳
Lucky yeeeee
wrong sport store, and songdal its bit expensive, better if you shop in big cities like bergen/ stavanger maybe Førde. btw Sport outlet or XXL is the cheapest in small towns
I think Lars might have put it wrongly, you close one of your eyes, not both :P
You would keel over with grocery prices in US with inflation currently!
I hope you dont drive 10-15 km/h under the speed limit like absolutely all other German RV tourists do.
Remember the average yearly salary in Norway is around 55-60.000 Euros. So it doesn’t seem that expensive from a Norwegian perspective 🙈
Are you going all the way up to the end? 😊
Some of the things are cheaper or the same as in the US. $4 for bread is not that expensive for me.
