Good video! Last week I applied helicopter tape on our Bromptons and I highly encourage everyone to do the same. I found that the wet application is easier for beginners, since it allows you to move the tape around, in case you mess up.
Hi Brian! Glad to see you here jajajaja! Mr. Macpdm, Brian, Check this two videos about this, they are very comprehensive: ua-cam.com/video/ctG6hUwMY1E/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/0N4yiZIx_kQ/v-deo.html :)
brian d vlogs thanks Brian it’s truly good stuff. And guys you got to check out his channel for some seriously good content ua-cam.com/users/briandvlogs
@@macpdm Thank you very much! I recently sold the Tern D7i and was finally able to order an M6R "on demand". If all goes well, by mid-September it will be arriving in Buenos Aires, so I'm seeing as much data as possible in the meantime :)
Excellent video, thanks! I’m tempted to buy a small length of 10mm helicopter tape and run it down the top frame, from the hinge to the seat clamp bit. The circumference of the frame in that section is bigger than that, but with 10mm I should be able to get “horseshoe” shaped coverage on the top, right and left. I’m concerned about the curve though. I know you say there’s a certain amount of stretch, but do you think this is going to be a major problem?
Coinkidinkerly, I did both ours this afternoon and used neither water or heat, although it has been 31C today! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on placement areas, I covered most of them but will rethink some more... ✅ 👍🏻
Great video! Do you find any issues with the tape lasting on the metallic graphite? I’m looking into getting one but wasn’t sure if the matte texture would mean the tape would peel off easier. Thanks!
Hey Charlie thanks for the question so I’m using the Shimano M324 pedals which do not detach or fold but don’t cause much of an issue. Will be doing a video on upgrades soon.
No problem with that but may not last long once the elements get to it. Mind you it’s cheap enough just to reapply. If you don’t mind doing the job more often. You could also use self amalgamating tape.
Thx for the video! I do have to mention that the high price of a Brompton deserves a better lock :)
Thankyou for the comments. I agree about the better lock but I am lucky living in a remote location 😀

Your welcome glad it worked for you
Did you apply any to the chain stay to protect from chain slap on the stay/
Hi Steve good shout and I would but I think Brompton already do this. I will double check

Thanks for watching. So I had the same thought but no it’s fine and no signs of peeling as yet.
Omg that lock! Good video, thanks!
Thanks for the video... what pedals are you using, are they SPD, do they detach?

Mine is all black. Just used good quality insulation tape.
