Nicely done. We have been using them for over 10 years. Today we are using them for touring the world. We started in San Francisco and now we are in La Paz (Mexico) These bikes can handle a lot.
I am an American who does a lot of international traveling and teaching. Wherever I go, I take my Brompton. I've ridden in South Korea, Beijing, Mexico, throughout Hungary, including Lake Balaton, which is 150-miles in circumference. One thing is true, whenever you get on a Brompton, it brings a smile to your face.
Excellent video and thanks again for an excellent product. We have owned two Bromptons for more newarly 8 years that have given us countless wonderful and extrordinary memories. We have riden along side many hardcore roadracers that have compliment the design of OUr Bromptons and expressed a degree of surprised as we where pacing ourselves with them. We have also had a number of harcore riders say to us, "That's my next bike!" Our Bromptons have proven that one does not have to be a teenager or a "tour d'France" rider to enjoy the special feeling you get from a Brompton, or, the incredible conversations and friendships that have arisen with all sorts of riders in Belgium, Germany, Japan, and Canada. We had our first conversation with a dedicated Brompton rider in Brussels at the main train station while we were having lunch. When the gentleman sat down at our table and did the "clasic Brompton fold" I aked him, "What sort of bike was was he riding...?" he replied, in no uncertain terms, "This is a Brompton - the Rolls Royce of folding bikes." When we returned to Vancouver we ordered two Bromptons, a 6 speed in black and a 6 speed in white. On our last trip to London (pre-Covid) we specifically made a vist to the "Brompton Junction - Covent Garden" it was like being in a Brompton "candy store." Thank you once again for an excellent video, excellent product and all the very best to all of exisiting and soon to be Brompton riders.
I am a 59 year old man living in London. The brompton is a very well designed and cool looking bike. I use it when ever i can. I like it so much i brought one for my wife.
I have owned a Brompton for about 8 years as I have a railway station about 3 miles away and my office was about a mile from the destination, it was great, even if the train was full I could stand with Brompton between my feet wish I had thought of it many years before I retired now I use it for convenience around town getting a coffee etc brilliant machine.

The truly folding bike. I brought it last May 2021, I have been using it for daily commuting and occasionally do leisure ride. I have traveled over 1300km. Is a awesome bike I will say.
Great video and editing. Only missing that Brompton is a lifestyle choice, you can go to supermarkets with it and shop in trolley mode. The trolley mode is what clinched the deal for me.
Seriously I have No regret Paying the amount of money buying Brompton I knew I'm not only paying for the quality and most importantly is the workmanship! I only did a few upgrades like chaining and BB, slick tires 🤗

Good video - my only comment would be that it doesn't compete with trains, it complements them. My regular train to London usually has about a dozen Bromptons (and a few other folding bikes) on it.
Bought our first one in 2011, our second one in 2012, used every week, bus train and plane, camping holidays with everything carried on the bike, with trailers touring Andalusia. Tow-path touring discovering our rich 18th century industrial history on the Grand Union canal, would we part with our Bromptons, not a chance, only when we can't ride a bike anymore!
Definitely one of, if not, the best folding bike and definitely worth the price. Only problem is the income disparity between 1st world and 3rd world countries that cannot afford the bike. The price itself is like half a year's salary (if you're lucky) in most of southeast asia.
You have no idea. A 25lb bike Is wonderful. I used to lug a 60lb fiido M1 pro up several flights of stairs. My C LINE explore is heavenly in comparison.
They're all the same size folded up. The one with the rack is the best one if you're mixed-mode travelling a lot though as it's easier to wheel around.
There is a negligible difference in size. Those with racks or extended seatposts will be slightly bigger, but both of those features are either really useful or essential so don’t let that be your deciding factor. Most people who fly with them check them in either in a reinforced IKEA Dimpa bag or in a specific Brompton flight case. It is possible to put them in the overhead bins on some flights (Brompton Mafia have a guide) but you should always go prepared to have to gate check them.
Correction: British bicycle manufacturing DID NOT "go into decline" at the beginning of the 20th-Century. The industry was still expanding right through the 50s. Decline didn't happen until the 70s. Also, it is not "Brickerton." It is Bickerton ... that the Brompton was designed to improve upon.
i own Brompton rocket red black edition and my friend Bought a Brompton Copy CHINA made. they look the same.. but the BUILD quality are Night and Day comparison.
I like Brompton a lot, but I won't buy one for one simple reason: there no high end hub gears available on a Brompton. I am talking about Nexus 7 gear hub and Rohloff 14 gear hub. But wait...there is a 6 speed gear system available on a Brompton. True, but it is a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub with 2 derailer gears. Well the 3rd gear is too high for me, that leaves 4 effective gears. Also the difference between the low and high derailer gears is minimum. Maybe I can use the 44 teeth gear ring to make the 3rd gear accessible. But the gear spacing of 33 % of the Sturmey is still huge. I fitted my Dahon D7 with a Nexus 7 and it performs well. Cycling in gear 6 most of the time and with gear 1 I can climb a mountain. My Dahon can fit in my car's trunk/ bonnet, so no need for the ultra small seize Brompton. Brompton and my Dahon are not comfortable for long distance travel. So I purchased a Gekko 26 FX, made by HP Velotechnik. My Gekko is a folding trike with a Rohloff hub 14 gears. Cycling in a deck chair has no saddle pain and with the Rohloff I always have the right gear at my disposal. And I can use Ortlieb panniers, which are cheaper then Brompton front bags.
Of the Gekko is the still the seize of a refridgerator compared to the Brompton and 10 kg/ 22 lbs heavier, but the Gekko has suitcase wheels too. So I can roll it around the platform and only I have to carried inside the train. Once back on the platform, after the train ride, I can unfold the Gekko and push it in the station.
Brompton is the best folding bike, because the length of the wheelbase. 103-105cm. It gives stability while riding. This weheelbase is longer 4-6CM then average other folding bike. It's longer 5-7 CM than road bike, and It's the same as 26" mountain bike. The second big secret is the durability of the bike and its parts.. The big drawback is the weight. The popular model M6L is about 12 KG. Terrible!!
Why are Bromptons so expensive? They're just a few pipes and hinges with wheels and probably shimano parts like any other. You can get full blown motorcycles and ebikes for the price of some of these.

Yes, Brompton is very expensive and there are only 2 advantages of the Brompton over other folding bikes: the very small seize and the trolley mode when folded. But cheaper folding bikes can just cycle as pleasant as a Brompton. I can neo tell the difference between a Brompton and my Dahon D7 when I cycle them.
Probably I have a Monday morning model. It’s the only folding bike I own so I can’t compare to other folding bikes, but I do and did own ‘normal’ bikes. I can say that my brompton is the worst bike I ever owned. The only plus I can find is the fold and that’s it, I do not advise to buy a brompton for daily commute.

It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
