- Here is a snippet from a recent live stream where I was composing around Audio Ollie's LA Modern Percussion sample library.

These videos are super inspiring for me, I sit through every minute of them excited about what you do next! Thanks for posting these so much
I love watching you work.
My roomie and I watched much of this on twitch and he was cringing watching you cause he said you gotta watch the hr long video they put up about how to use the library. Maybe you figured it out in the last hr. Thx for sharing, love your vids.
Whenever I play with libraries I make it a point to just start using it and figure it out as I go, as this is what most of my viewers will do when they get a new library. Its a good way to see how intuitive it is out of the box, something I think most appreciate. I get its not for everyone tho so feel free to cringe away ;)
@@DJLA Yeah no worries, I felt the same way as you. I told him as much too haha. Hey btw, do you do a lot of mouse click short cuts or are you just mega fast? Do you have a fav mouse & mixing plugin?
@@EASTSIDEDELI I have some key commands attached to my logitech g300s mouse and I also have a stream deck with some. But I am also pretty quick if I know what I am trying to do (as I have done it thousand of times by this point XD )
Yes daniel super Cue...very cool.
How can I do the midi pasting like 3:23 ?
that's very fast to do a loop !
thanks :)
I really appreciate the work that goes into these Daniel. I've really learned a lot since I've first discovered you ~2 years ago
Same here ...
1 hour 34 mins of my life well spent!
Smashed that Daniel ! Great to see an artist at work ...!!
Awesome! You move around in Cubase like some kids do in Fortnite! ;-) Really appreciate you sharing your work. It looks like you have a lot of $ in sample libraries !
Always a Fantastic Job Daniel
This is a FANTASTIC library. Thanks DJ.
I’ve been migrating from Logic to Cubase and was wondering if you can do a video on your shortcuts! I’m trying to speed up my workflow and you’re a beast! 🤘
You can find plenty of videos for Cubase shortcuts. Also if I remember correctly he uses custom ones for Cubase because he switched from Ableton and wanted to keep things as consistent as possible when going from one to the other. Pretty sure you can import Logic shortcuts into Cubase, too.
Lytport since I wrote this comment I went crazy and created a bunch of key commands and even integrated my iPad w logical editor stuff via Metagrid. I was just curious about DJs personal favorites. I know he likes to assign stuff to his mouse as well if I remember correctly. I need me a new mouse w a zillion buttons!

@@yuggothproductions Ah, nice. Just figured I'd comment to maybe be helpful. I know a few mice you could look into. The Razer Naga, Corsair Scimitar, and Logitech G600 have 12 customizable buttons on the side plus two on top for dpi switching but can also be reassigned.
Hey man would appreciate if you could do a video about Cubase's shortcuts, while watching you I'm really realising how slow I am ^^ Great comp btw
Jump in on the next live stream to remind me and I can show you!
@@DJLA Sure! The BBC one?
That one wont be until its released, so there will be a few more normal streams until then.
@@DJLA All right thanks, see you there!
I second this!!
Nice video Daniel! Great library too! Maybe you can use a macro/command for randomizing the velocity by 5 or something to achieve a kind of round robin-ish sound? Works only with the 2 upper keys though.
I wonder why you switched from Ableton to Cubase. I'm really struggling with Ableton Cubase and FL Studio
Siii súper ación súper epic...Bravo Daniel...muchos tienen que aprender de ti.
Great Job Daniel! very impressive & great selection of instruments
THANKS very instructive video !!
Just one question...Daniel when you are recording for each instruments, say the string sections, do you actually knew what chord that you were in (and then somehow you knew instantly how to orchestrate that chord)? Or you just wrote these in purely muscle memory?
I know what key I am in most of the time and the various scales I am using. Muscle memory does come into play sometimes but most of the time I hear in my head what is coming next and I know where to find it (something you get after years of repetition of certain things)
@@DJLA Thanks for the explanation Daniel! (You get up so early lol)
this is really good :)
Wow this is rly good thanks 👍
Any other libraries have the JXL percussion layout?
I believe Strikeforce does also.
It is very good ... but I would suggest escaping the loop way ... because you are getting caught ... and everything seems very monodico-fatigued in that it is a single line with timbre nuances ... escape a little from this form of I work ... and escapes the very tonal .... my respects already ... you are very talented
Yeah I hear you, although for the purpose of writing live, doing a loop style approach is easier for people to follow the concepts of what I am doing. Also it means I can jump around to new sections easier without spending 30 minutes on one line (which is exactly what was happening to the piece I was writing in the live stream just before this, which I abandoned for this very reason ;) )
I like writing in D
It's satisfying
I do not have the skills to do this but I still want to try. Just epic.
Clive Mercer baby steps eventually add up to miles! Just keep working at it and you can be as good as you want to be :)
@@DJLA Thank you Daniel, I will definitely catch your livestream on twitch or at least try to. :D
Sick !!!
First! (I had to, don't blame my inner child)
Forth me :)
Hey Daniel, great video! By the way (and I'm sure you've answered this somewhere before), but how do you live-stream without headphones and avoid getting monitor feedback coming through your microphone?
A use a shotgun mic that is constantly right up in my face. Its pretty good at keeping the noise low. I also run my mic through RX Denoiser which picks up some of that echo. I am pretty happy with the signal.
Hey Dan, Great channel. been following for a while, I'm very new to all this and was wondering if you had any plans for a begginers tutorial series? or just tips and tricks to help understand what your doing in each section of the composition you do. Keep up the meaty goodness.
I am not against the idea, although I have done this for so long now I forget what a beginner would actually find useful. I do so many of the basic things as muscle memory without thinking that its hard to remember people don't know what I just did. If you have a list of things you would be interested in post them here so I can get an idea :)
@@DJLA Of course man, I can appreciate that. That would be F'ing Ace!
You will have to forgive my ignorance for the correct terminology.
Mainly for me it's timing, and synchronising all the instruments TOGETHER.
What are the key things I need to focus on to get all the instruments to work together? As things sound completely off beat most of the time for me.
How to write the specific instrument patterns
Like staccato lines or percussion, I see you just click in a scale or pattern and it just works all the time 😂
Other things like..
. Off beats
. Quantization
. Understanding 8ths, 16th etc..(mainly when to use them correctly)
I think that would be a Great help mate, Thankyou.
YOOOOOO first Comment --- I has Conquered the Space !!!! Pun from your reaction vid
But have you conquered panning?
@@DJLA Not Yet haha .. I dont have such power to withstand Panagement Unlike Zimmer and Junkie XL
@@DJLA The Cactus was the best scene and your reaction priceless ..
