This show seems very interesting, I'll have to check it out one day! If you liked Centuarworld, I highly recommend The Black Cauldron [1985 Disney Movie] and the books it was based on: The Chronicles Of Prydain. Granted they both have issues [although Prydain's aren't talked abolut as often], and the ending of the final Prydain book is awful IMO [magic leaves Prydain and Eilonwy is forced to give up her magic, which is horrible and I frankly feel like the Prydain series did a bad job with portraying magic compared to fellow fantasy books like LOTR and Narnia]. Unrelated, but I'd love a lore lite video on Engie Benjy. It's a wholesome British show by Cosgrove Hall [who also made Danger Mouse and Count Duckula] with fun characters [Benjy himself has quite a few sarcastic remarks at times], fun worldbuilding [Cotton Candy Fog in the episode Lost Horizons], and some really unique vehicle designs.
Athena P, CAN YOU PLEASE DO A CHAOTIC LORE VIDEO? It's a show that was on 4KidsTV. Here's what the show is about: Chaotic tells the tale of a teenage boy named Tom and his friend Kaz. They both play the Chaotic Trading Card/Online Game. Kaz always tries to tell Tom about a secret code to play for real which Tom refuses to believe. While playing online Tom receives the special password. When he enters the password into his game scanner he is transported to a place called Chaotic that is able to take him to another world where the characters, locations and items in the card game came to life. There are two parts to the Chaotic world, Chaotic itself and Perim. Chaotic is where the people play an advanced version of the card/online game where they transform into the creatures. The games can be watched via monitor by other players. The second part is Perim. In Perim the creatures, locations and items from the game are real. Players from the Chaotic game can teleport into Perim and scan the locations, creatures and items with their scanners, gaining the ability to use them in their games. There are four tribes in Perim. Two tribes, the heroic-looking Overworlders and the demonic-looking Underworlders, have been at war over a great power called the Cothica. Despite their names, there is no definite good and evil tribe, as both have different stories and interpretations of how the war began, with each tribe seeing the other as being evil and the ones who started the conflict. The Danians (insectoid creatures) and Mipedians (reptilian creatures) have since joined the war, turning it into a four-way conflict over the Cothica. It is said that the Mipedians were once united with the Overworlders and the Danians united with the Underworlders. It is still unknown why they separated. Both Chaotic and Perim are made up of a mysterious code called the "Chaotic Code". The code is noted for constantly changing in random ways. Thus, it is considered "chaotic." In Perim, the Chaotic Code describes everything. It contains the information for all the creatures, BattleGear, attacks, Mugic, and locations. The Cothica, mentioned above, is the source of all the codes in Perim. The code also describes everything in Chaotic. The BattleDromes, Transporters, and CodeScanners can analyze and/or modify this code for matches, transport, or creation of virtual cards. When the players are in Chaotic/Perim, they exist simultaneously on Earth so their daily lives can continue without drawing concern or attention from others. When a Chaotic player leaves Chaotic they become one person again and the Earth version of the player gains the memories of anything they experienced in the Chaotic/Perim world. This is awkward the first time they transport, as their online deck is blocked so that their Chaotic self can use it and their scanner becomes non-functional, causing many people to believe they have broke their scanners until they are re-united with their Chaotic self. But also there is Season 2 called Chaotic: M'arillian Invasion and Season 3 called: Chaotic: The Secrets of the Lost City. Season 1 was animated by Bardel Entertainment and Season 2 and 3 were animated by Dong Woo Animation. YOU GOTTA MAKE A LORE VIDEO ABOUT THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!
I knew this show had adult humor, but I still wasn’t ready for the scene where the codependent pink alpaca forced the kleptomaniac gerenuk to draw fetish art
If someone had told me that this show would legitimately make me sob because of the character development of a horse, I would have thought they were crazy.
Something go I feel like doesn’t get talked about a lot is how horse’s arc overall is kind of an allegory of veterans trying to rejoin civilian life. Like many veterans have said that they’re overwhelmed by the brightness/colors of places like supermarkets in the same vain than horse is overwhelmed by centaur world
Very much about adults healing trauma through reclaiming a sense of humor and play, and those being necessary tools to live well in the face of despair/annihilation. With some of the other centaurs, being able to look that danger in the face, to heal from old wounds and DEAL with these things without breaking or becoming worse.
I can imagine horses jealousy is from a pet related Stockholm syndrome. Horse was essentially a pet to rider for, presumably, the majority of her life. This show did a great job at making horse seem like a real person the whole time even though she was a non verbal animal companion a week ago. I think it adds a lot more weight to the "you're just a horse" line because she was literally just a horse.
This! The jealousy makes perfect sense from the angle of pet/companion. I will say though, Rider only having faith that horse could rally the centaurs, but not find real information with her magic says quite a bit about Rider's view of those magical beings (centaurs aren't just talking animals and we know that as the audience). Even if Horse was a regular horse before, she can talk, think critically, and has magic in the moment Rider chooses to doubt her.
I mean, from a human pov yeah. But if you look at how animals tend to experience their connections to humans, they're more like sisters. Found family. Dogs adopt us into their pack, to cats we are members of their colony, and to a horse, Rider is clearly a member of her own herd. The only one. That's her entire family for most of her life. Chances are that Rider raised Horse from a foal up. So this must feel like her big sister/mother figure getting a new step sibling/step child and only ever spending time with them. Which is the kind of situation that makes real individuals in the real world very heartbrokenly jealous, too. And I think this interpretation makes a lot of sense when you consider that Rider's song is framed as a lullaby in which she takes on a motherly position, as well as how their duet has them call each other their only family.
I think it’s more about Horse’s role being re-filled, though? Horse and Rider weren’t *only* companions, they were also co-workers: Horse would carry Rider into battle. From Horse’s perspective, she’s been replaced, because why would a soldier need more than one horse to ride?
Well,to be fair,if your pet was suddenly extremely intelligent and capable of communication and then said "yeah,we gotta kill one of the only people we've ever trusted to protect our kinds" I dare say you might not handle it in the most logical way @@mewmew6158
If one transforms in centaurworld by becoming unburdened, could the opposite be true in the human world? Maybe that's why the elk centaur looks like he's from the human world because he is burdened with something like his role as rift maintenance man or his insecurity of being a centaur. Also thanks for making a video on this show! It's so underrated and I wish more people knew about it.
Never thought of the woman not becoming centarworld-fied was because she didn't embrace centarworld. My theory was that she didn't spend enough time, due to her being a princess, in centarworld while learning magic.
My understanding is that there is a clear connection between embracing Centaurworld and becoming "centaurworldified". The Elktaur was a centaur, but looked like someone from the human world, because he didn't feel of Centaurworld. In a throwaway line, it is explained that the woman's purple hair was a byproduct of her spending time in, and clearly embracing, Centaurworld. And Horse's transformation happened right when she started accepting Centuarworld as her new home. Whereas Rider's hair transformation happened when she started connecting with the centaurs. And Stabby's transformation happened when he truly saw Durpleton, a centaur, as his father figure.
@RasmusVJS Ohhh. Ya, I think I missed how the Elktaur was a centaur who looked like someone from the human world because I just loved his design. So my brain just hyperfocused on his animations. I completely missed the throwaway line about the woman's hair being purple! For the rest, it just never occurred to me. But with Ryder, it does explain why she seemed to be centaurworld-fied faster than Horse.
Also, right after this show came out, Wammawink’s voice actress lost her family in a helicopter accident so her performance in the show makes me even more depressed for her
@@Justcallmeaqua420 Actually, the 2nd season premiered in December of 2021, whereas the accident happened in September of 2022, so there was no possible correlation between the two.
@@magicdawn1973 Luckily, the accident was a floatplane accident, not a helicopter accident, so there is at least that degree of separation between Wammawink's helicopter and the loss of her sister's family.
this show really has everything. healthy age regression representation. constant body horror and existential terror. canon fujoshi behavior. no one in the cast is under 30. talking fart song that’s a metaphor for the parental neglect of neurodivergent children. little mermaid story that’s both a metaphor for whitewashing yourself out of embarrassment for your culture AND toxic cartoon fans that hate children’s cartoons because animation isn’t respected unless it’s “serious”. egg laying kink. no one will ever do it like centaurworld.
“Healthy agere representation” (Laughs a laugh that would reduce your bones to ash in person who has to deal with age regression irl) No. It doesn’t. Healthy agere isn’t forced upon you. It isn’t healthy to be put in a state where you shut down and regress as a last resort to make people understand you not only are hurt but have been hurt for a while. And no, when you age regress, people are not kinder to you. They don’t take better care of you. They tell you to stop being so weird and immature and they mock you. They tell you to stop crying like that. They don’t give you space. They make up whatever act of control looks enough like love to an outside audience, so you have to learn to parent yourself when you’re like that. Congratulations if you have a more positive experience with age regression when it happens to you, if it does, but it is a _trauma response._ Agere doesn’t make you soft and cute and passive. When I regress I’m not having fucking _fun._ I’ve lost jobs because of regressing at work, having to walk the kid home in our big adult body so they didn’t have a meltdown curled in a ball in the dark on the bathroom floor. I didn’t remember why anyone had ever thought it was a good idea to expect me to work an adult’s job. I lost my sense of place and self, and I panicked. Nobody was around to talk to, nobody to check in with in a position of authority with awareness of my medical realities, i did the best I could and it didn’t matter at all, because that kind of shit happening at random outside my control isn’t what any capitalist workplace wants. No, I would not have been somehow safer around other adults in that state if I acted like a silly little kid. My protector alts’ ability to run plans of action, to bargain with the terrified child that _does not want to be there_ and get them out of there regardless of what outside influences prefer them to do, hell even my ability to look big and spooky and competent is better protection for the age regressed alters than letting them be unsupervised around adults who aren’t dealing with agere. Not entirely sure what you think age regression is. But please don’t do this.
Where does age regression even come up in the show? I guess Stabby, but he never struck me as age regressed, just a silly guy. More of a representation of ending the cycle of child abuse rather to anything else. I have age regressed before (for some reason recently, it's been happening while I play tf2? Specifically pyro. It's making me think I've somehow attached agere to pyro?) And it wasn't at all like what Stabby has going on, so I really don't see a connection.
i love the little things in this show, like in the finally, the elktar grabs the key and pulls it towards his head, he knows there is no redemption and he deserves death, truly morbid and beautiful
i love his character bc it's so rare that you see the concepts of "this villain is sympathetic" and "this villain cannot be redeemed" applied together, usually you only see one or the other. his story is sad, especially so because it _didn't have to be that way,_ if only things had gone just a little differently it all could have been avoided, but it did go that way, and as sad as the nowhere king's story is, it doesn't excuse all the lives he ruined and ended, and now this is the way it has to end. it's absolutely wild how a show with such an amazing, impactful villain is also the same show with a talking giraffe who's farts talk to him, this show gave me tonal whiplash so many times and i loved it.
I think that on top of him knowing that there was no redemption for him, he still hated his centaur self? I haven’t watched the scene in a while but I’m pretty sure during the woman’s song, after she put his two halves back together, he touches the shadow of his antlers resentfully. after all he went through and all the damage he caused, he *still* didn’t really learn his lesson, and if the woman had spared him, his self-hatred would have made him continue to hurt himself and others. Really depressing (in a good way)
@@jasperjazzie Ya it truly is rare that they do both those concepts for a villain. It was done surprisingly well. Like you said it’s sad but it doesn’t excuse what he did. It’s such a unique concept that we don’t see very often.
@@_kaleido As someone who just watched the scene. He does touch the shadow of his antlers. I wasn’t fully sure if it was in a resentful way or in a sad he lost what he had kinda way. He likely still would’ve had that self hatred
Honestly I felt only for the Woman and felt no sympathy for Elktaur. She sounds so broken about having to do it, but he's nothing more that a heartless self-loathing monster who had hurt her and countless others and deserves no more sympathy than a mosquito being swatted. Personally I wish Elktaur's death was more painful and drawn out. Have her slowly and repeatedly bludgeon him and beat him to death with each blow to the beat of the Nowhere King lullaby, each blow filled with her pent-up rage of everything he did to her, while in his final moments Elktaur goes from calmly accepting that he deserves death, to pleading for his life in pain and terror as blow after blow lands into him, and at last righr back into pleading for death again from the sheer pain, not just acknowledging that he deserves it but outright begging for it as she has now inflicted him all the pain HE inflicted onto others.
Actually. The creator wanted more lore. And wanted to continue the show even after that satisfying conclusion in second season but Netflix pulled a plug on her.
@@mamabear1394 if they pulled the plug on bigmouth we could’ve had more inside job, we could’ve had more centaur world, and most importantly, we WOULDN’T have to see more bigmouth. No but seriously, why do they do what they do? I don’t understand their logic at all.
I’m really glad other traumatized people were able to retain that bc personally it slapped me across the face really hard when I had just gotten comfortable :/
@@squib3825All because Netflix gave them just a tiny spotlight on their sight. It's sad that because Centaur world didn't become an instant hit, Netflix wouldn't give a 3rd season.
Idk, the implication that he saw a found family assembling and decided "I wanna be a part of that!" and then comes out of nowhere with no further explanation is just infinitely funnier. 😂
I really love CentaurWorld. The entire animation team got a crash course from James Baxter, the incredibly talented guy who worked on Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron.
@@ratbirdplaceholder7022 James Baxter is an extremely talented animator in real life. He animated James Baxter the horse in adventure Time and they named him after him and he's voiced by him. The James Baxter adventure times episodes are basically just a big love letter to the guy.
@@Lesbianlichen HOLY SHIT I HAD NO IDEA THAT IS THE BEST THING EVER. I am SO goddamn sad we didn't get a Spirit sequel. Instead we got an extremely whitewashed and dumbed down tv show for 5 year olds. Holy crap, the disrespect!
I’ve never seen the show so the lack of context made it even more entertaining 😭 I was not expecting the one character’s tragic origin story to be caused by a fart 😭😭
Same with a lot of franchises, really. Like "billionaire dresses up as a bat to fight an evil clown". Or "kid and his lightning mouse fight the mafia, mutants, and a god".
The mysterious woman’s hair is purple because she embraced centaurworld when she was younger. It’s jagged during the show because she’s been reburdened by reality. You can never truly go back you just change more.
I'm gonna be so fr right now, Whaletaur's song was so hauntingly mellow that I can actually see how she was able to get all of the people in her care (the old town's folk) to come with her willingly. She offered them a release from the suffering they felt whilst shouldering their burdening pains for potentially forever. Her tears aren't her own anymore, those tears belong to the ones she's swallowed to alleviate and vindicate from their suffering. She offered them a way for all of them to leave and for no one to be left behind to remember all of the loss. She fills in that role by being their sole mourner.
41:50 This was later confirmed by series creator Megan Nicole Dong in an interview. She added that there was a scene cut from The Last Lullaby that shows Glendale's parents waiting for their daughter while still inside the portal tummy. Her parents may not remember how they got there, nor realize that they are in another dimension entirely.
34:07 I actually herd (lol) a couple of different theories on why they hate WamaWink, 1. That the writers thought that Wama Wink would be a more disliked character (not true from what I’ve seen, but she does give a similar vibe to other disliked characters I’ve seen) 2 it’s because her most important moments weren’t visible to the Birdtaurs, her backstory and the moment in the Whaletaur
i always thought the joke was that it was a parody of how fandoms always arbitrarily hate one character (usually a woman who happens to be pink coded) despite everyone being equally flawed
I realized that number 2 could be an option while watching the video. There would be no way for them to see that. The best way they would know about that is when Horse literally talks to her after they meet the birdtaurs. Even then they wouldn’t get much details
@@cureidolsmile9820 rose quartz/pink diamond and mabel pines to name a few (though PD hate is definitely more justified than mabel or wammawink hate lol)
@@toonydotloonyMy problem with the Pink Diamond hate is that so many fans of SU still don’t realize we’d seen her character development in reverse from the beginning of the series to The Movie, where we see Pink’s literal most unforgivable act. After that, the sequel/epilogue series smartly deals with the aftermath of Pink spoiled Princess past in a *SINGLE EPISODE* and it wasn’t even about her failings as a person, but as the unintended consequences of adopting another Gem classes identity. This gave Future a chance to really focus on Steven, and how he has one thing in common with his Mom, he represses his true feelings way beyond what any one person could ever manage.
FINALLY SOMEONE TALKS ABOUT THIS SHOW!!!! Unironically has some amazing songs. It’s up there with SpongeBob, Phineas and Ferb and Steven Universe in terms of quality. I will never forgive Hazbin Hotel for not letting Kimiko Glenn have a solo song cus she os FANTASTIC on this show.
Okay okay this is something i really wanna mention about this show that i feel should be important. There are no other elktaurs. The Nowhere King/General is the only Elktaur. My personal theory is just that elktaurs went extinct and he was simply the last one left and because of this it further made him feel like he did not fit in and was another motivation for him to force himself to fit in.
@@randomfellow27 i don't think this would be likely, no one but Human Woman and The General knew the Nowhere King was even a centaur until the very end of the war and even then it was Horse and Horse alone who found out. I do not believe Human Woman would have wiped out the Elktaurs because she doesn't seem the type to genocide a race for the mistakes of one specimen and The General was focused more on Nowhere King and not even in Centaurworld to wipe out the Elktaurs. So unless its a case of them just never being seen in the show then they were probably already dwindling and Elktaur was the last
15 seconds in, my guesses are either Colleen Ballinger or Shane Dawson 🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️‼️ 33 MINUTES AND 37 SECONDS IN, LET’S GO, I WAS RIGHT ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Genuinely, they did so well with the opening scene of this show! The total whiplash of going from a war-torn world, directly into the Girliepop Hell that is Centaurworld is so perfect. If someone sat me down to watch a show and I didn't see what it was, and THAT'S how I got introduced to it, I'd react like Horse too. "What the fuck? Why is this happening?? How do I make all of This stop happening???"
36:32 I just cant get over the fact that "comfortable doug" is literally like a character that represents the theme of the whole show but *is just a random side gag character at the same time*
I agree this show is so slept on I started watching after watching a video essay on the villain and oh my god it took over my life for a straight couple months
27:10 I had never actually *thought through* Wammawink's merdude fetish but that actually makes a frustrating amount of sense. Still can't get over how people got together and made Mansplash real. The "crossword" was the best part.
Funnily enough, the people who made the real Mansplash magazine was actually the creators of the show! I think it's really neat and cool that the creators really liked making silly things relating to the show too :)
OMG YES, I LOVE CENTAURWORLD IT'S SO WEIRD AND SOMEHOW GOOD BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY HAS A PLOT??! Been waiting for someone to talk about this and the show's weird ending and implications
oh my gosh YEAH THE BIRDTAURS ARE HORRIBLE. I also agree that the time crunch Netflix put on the second/final season definitely caused a lot of mischaracterization, especially with Wammawink. I do wonder what kind of set up the writers were going for when Horse recognized the Nowhere King's song.
The look the elk gives the general and the woman during the wedding gave me the same terror I felt while watching moments in perfect blue, specifically the moment where the man held mima in his hand 😨
The NWK being killed in the end really surprised me with how happy the rest of the end was. I thought the princess and him would be together after she said she could've loved him as he was, but NOPE
Yeah, while the nowhere king did kill tons of people I still felt bad for him as he was ultimately four different people. Honestly, I feel like the nowhere king being killed would’ve been more satisfying if it was The Nowhere king form and the general form being killed. Her mentally being able to kill the form that did no harm, but not the forms who actively killed people is pretty messed up. I didn’t want to see a poor love stricken fool die, I wanted to see the selfish general and eldrich monster die. (Also, did she never talk to the general, who she MARRIED, about going back to his og form? Maybe this would’ve been touched on if we had more seasons but with what we had she definitely seemed very knowledgeable in the situation, yet chose to do nothing to try and fix things before they got out of control.) but despite my minor complaints, ultimately I think the show ended well for having to cram a bunch of stuff into one final season, and I’m sure we would’ve had a more nuanced view had the creators been given the ability to show us it. Still one of my favorite shows and I’m happy it at least got a proper conclusion.
PJ Masks has lore??? Thought it was a city run by no one, considering it has no protection and no police, military, videotapping etc. It’s up to only THREE 7 YEAR OLDS to keep this city intact from… another 7 year old… however I have a theory that blue guy main leader is dreaming every episode
@@turkey4802 someone DID make a pretty cool young adult reboot show AU on PJ masks which has a lot more context and lore and it's actually a super good take on it, i can link the video if you want. they also have a couple other videos like that i believe :o
I'm forever mad that they skipped over a Zulius backstory. I binged season two with my friend when it came out, and we were so mad when the backstory episode ended just before he was about to give his.
Colleen did a lot of stuff with her voices with her og UA-cam channel so I think she’s probably the one to voice a character cuz I can’t really imagine the other ones doing well as VA’s 😭 but it could also be a person I don’t know lol
0:35 reminds me of when someone said Hilda (which you should totally do a video about) was like if gravity falls and Steven universe had a baby (except in that case the baby predated its own parents by at least two to theee years).
I don't know if you know @@TheElementalGemsStudios, but Hilda made her debut in 2010 in the graphic novel "hildafolk" (pun of "huldenfolk" which means "hidden people" in icelandic, before being renamed to "Hilda and the troll"). The main graphic novel series ended with "Hilda and the mountain king" while what seems like a prequel series to an even younger audience is in the works with the newest entry "Hilda And Twig: hide from the rain" releasing this year on November 8. What amazes me about it's animated adaptation is how much it was able to give more to Hilda's world than the graphic novels did. So much so that even after adding so much additional material for seasons 1 and 2 which adapt novels 1-5 with the movie adapting the final novel, the third season gave it even more.
I cannot overstate how rocked I was when I realized that Stabby's arc was about him healing by being forced into a platonic DDLB dynamic with a dude who could've easily been in his graduating class. Equal parts horrifying and hilarious, such a succinct summation of Centaurworld's whole vibe. And THANK YOU, yes, Wammawink is done so dirty in the birdtaur episode. Justice for my favorite self-parentified anxiety-riddled alpacataur!
“Hilarious” wow that’s so horrifying god unbless you in particular. “Wow it’s really comedic watching someone force you to age regress otherwise they won’t take you to the hospital, because the aesthetics of it are in the girliepop cartoon world” fucking incredible take The term is safe sane and consensual for a reason. I do not give a shit if you tack “platonic” on there. The “forced” part is the issue. That is abuse being shown not just uncritically but being framed as positive and healing because the framing device has already decided that who Phil is without being forced to go along with Durp’s fantasies to survive, is inherently wrong and bad. His overall personality stays the same- the aesthetic fumbling here for a show that built its majority on trying to explore complexities through and despite aesthetic assumptions absolutely dropped its ball here. This shit is not okay and y’all’s reactions to it is a core part of why it isn’t okay.
@@Lucifersfursona dude, you are all of in these comments trauma dumping about age regression. I'm sorry to hear that things are bad because of it, but it's really not related to the show. I doubt the creators wanted to put that parallel in there, it was just meant to be a funny gag. I mean, stabby doesn't even really age regress in the way that most people think of it. He plays into being durpeltons Son, but he remains with an adult mind the whole show. I feel like you need to work on whatever issues you have instead of attacking anyone who even brings up the age regression point about the show. It's weird.
When I watched this show with my brother and when comfortable Doug came on screen he screamed. He hates that dude and will groan If he's on screen. I once put a photo of comfortable Doug on his monitor to annoy him like years ago and it's still there.
Unpopular opinion: I always got sad when the human world characters got turned into the centaurworld art style. Purely just because I liked seeing the strikingly different art styles next to them lol But overall I liked the first season. The second season was so rushed that I couldn’t get into it (not their fault. Streaming services are greedy) but the finale was great
At 23:15 , i think their remarks about remembering the song could symbolise how death is a constant for everyone and its potetcy is recognizable to all.
I had a dream with Athena in it she had the face paint on and a big head band. She watched as I chased a fishing pole around my house and said ABNORMAL and that’s it…
i love using gifs of this show in discord because i'm the only one in my friend group who's ever heard of this show and it absolutely derails any conversation every time and then i get to remind everybody to please watch centaur world
I literally LOVE this show, I found it at a time where I was grieving my sister, and this whole silly musical had a beautiful message I felt like I could relate to. I REALLY REALLY wish more people knew about it, it's so underappreciated
On my first watch through of the show when there was only one season I legitimately thought this show was for adults because of how prevelant the war was
I’m sorry, but I NEED to infodump about this! So first things first, SPOILER WARNING ⚠️ I was genuinely so disappointed in Cheri’s character development. Not in the sense that it was badly written, but in the sense that it was such a change in her morals for the worst. Throughout the show, she wanted the best for the other shrunken humans and didn’t want people to be ruled by a tyrant. But then at the end of season 5, she becomes the very tyrant she swore to prevent. It’s really poetic and my jaw was ON THE FLOOR. Now back to the main plot of the show, I’m very interested in the existence of the ex team leader. I really want to see more of him in season 6. I’m also very invested in the Silver cops subplot but I can’t say I have much to say about it. But please if you haven’t seen this show, I beg of you to watch it I love it so much and we need more fan content 😭
Centuarworld is a show I won't binge watch but will randomly check In from time to time and enjoy most of it. I usually appreciate what is for its morals and style. A very wacky, zany, whimisical... and utterly unhinged style. despite being an hour long this video isn't even titled "retrospective" or "underrated masterpiece" just: centuarword is weird so that's the Athena p energy I've heard off.
One thing I never got about the hate for season 2 is “the rest of the herd never got their character arcs completed” did… did anyone pay attention watching this show?
God yes I’m so glad you’re here right now lol Your participation in the centaurwolrd fandom is everything to me. Edit: I’d honestly watch the hell out of a direct continuation but for a young adult audience. I know that might sound wack as hell because like… the show is Over or whatever, but I can’t be the only one who wants to watch Horse gain more powers, and she *has* a houseboat now, she can go anywhere she wants. If it had to not be about Horse though, I’d enjoy a spinoff that maybe takes us to each of the Shamans backstories? Honestly a prequel would kill in general, I just want to see more of Centaurworld itself. Before AND after everything that we get to watch. I really like this world and if it were up to me, I wish they had given it a third season, by splitting the second season into two parts and giving us more time in each place, or maybe in between places. Also, yeah, they dropped a LOT of plot lines, it would’ve been so nice to see those wrapped up.
This show was a riot and the way my jaw dropped when I learned that The Woman was voiced by Lea Salonga, who voiced Mulan and was the singing voice of Jasmine.... She has the range.
This show is such an insane watch I immediately clicked on the video because I've been trying to hear someone else's reaction to it because THE FINALE IS SO INSANE. absolutely nuts writing and creativity going on behind the scenes (and the beyond star-studded cast which also feels like it melts my brain)
God I love Centaurworld. It’s so weird but the soundtrack is amazing. Also I’m so sad this didn’t get three seasons, I think S2 suffered from needing to hurry up and land the plane in 8 episodes
That ending for the villain made me sob so hard. I knew he was irredeemable but it hurts so much cuz he's such a likeable character when you learn his backstory and then see him coming to the realization that there is no redemption for him and the show actually committing to the there is no redemption he is a genocidal maniac. It was so refreshing to see a irredeemable villain properly handled and actually punished for his crimes cuz too many shows nowadays go down the let's redeem them route or like I don't know I just really love the way that they handled that ending
Personally I didn’t like it because the person that was killed *wasn’t* the villain. The elktaur produced the villains (the nowhere king and the general) but as the elktaur, he didn’t do anything. If I had to change anything it would be so that she either killed them in the general/nowhere king state, or comforted him as he died of a fatal wound in the elktaur state (as it seemed the general and nowhere king were already dying, it would make sense that when combined the elktaur would still carry those fatal wounds.) I understand having that character die in the end, it fulfills the narrative, but the way he died felt too cruel. Especially since she didn’t really seem to have any real karma regarding her role in all of this (which I think gets overlooked too easily). As Athena mentioned in the video, the woman HAD the chance to kill the nowhere king yet didn’t take it, ultimately causing the deaths of more people. And even BEFORE that point she was guilty as she seemed to know the general and elk both existed, yet she let the general lock away the elk for TEN YEARS before trying to save him. Maybe she didn’t technically do anything bad, but by the same logic neither did the elktaur. For all intents and purposes the elktaur, the elk, the general, and the nowhere king are all separate entities, and I feel like they shouldn’t be punished for a crime a different person committed. Of course this is just my two cents. Like I said, I like that the villain died, I agree that too often they get an undeserved redemption ark, but the WAY he died felt unjust considering the way the situation was set up.
I've been binge watching all of the lore series recently and the entire time i was sitting here thinking "has athena seen centaurworld i feel like athena would like centaurworld" and then this immediately comes out hell yeah
God I remember when this show's trailer first got released and it showed the dark serious part first, then sucker punched you with the bright colorful shit and literally everybody went "what the fuck is this". I wish I could encapsulate the raw, unfiltered CONFUSION people felt at that trailer in a jar.
Centaurworld is like every genre at once. It's an adventure, comedy, drama, fantasy, and musical. It combines so many genres that it becomes its own genre and I love it for that
I really want a spinoff about Woman and her time married to the General and in Centaurworld. She's so interesting and hurt and I want to watch her struggle
Really wanna see more of the non-marginalized person in the relationship between a marginalized person experiencing open bigotry in their partner’s society, while their partner expects the love they share to make that bigotry disappear, and whose worst punishment by the narrative is to suffer the loss of their marginalized partner for “turning evil out of nowhere” trying to offer their privileged partner a future without consulting them about how they prefer monster love but will not actually do anything about how their partner is treated like a monster by the people they have active political influence and power over, never having their own complicitness in said bigotry as a figure of political power in their society addressed because look! They were never bigoted. And they got SAD! So the marginalized partner is killed by the privileged one, who can finally find someone who accepts their love as a suitable replacement for being treated equally, and who now never has to examine the bigotries of the world they passively made excuses for is what drove their previous partner insane. Wow it was so cool how she stood up for her taur partner in private but just looked embarrassed and stayed quiet when other humans were being openly antagonistic towards him at her own party. It’s not like she was literally the princess or anything. Why would he ever want to destroy the body she cherished therefore rendering the racism he experienced trivial. That was so fucked up of him specifically she wasn’t even involved! Fuckin Greatest Showman’s mixed race relationship behavior
@@Lucifersfursona a little confused on your rant, but if you’re saying you found the elktaur being killed at the end uncomfortable, I agree. If she was going to kill them/him she should have killed the monsters (the general and the nowhere king) not the innocent guy who did something in the name of love, not knowing that things would end up how they did. I probably would’ve liked her turning them back into the elktaur and comforting him during his death (as he was already half dead from one of the bodies falling off a cliff). OR her killing the General and Nowhere king as separate entities but telling them she would’ve loved them as they originally were. But turning the guy back, meant bringing back a guy who ultimately didn’t do anything just to kill him which feels wrong to me. (Especially since all the Minotaurs are just getting reformed despite also killing hundreds to thousands) (And just fyi, I view there being 4 people who made up the “nowhere king”. That being THE nowhere king, The general, the elk, and the elktaur. Just thought I’d clarify in case what I was saying got a little too confusing.)
Bro there's a really cool au where instead of killing Elktaur the woman fuses with him to keep his evil at bay and it has such good art. I gotta find it again. The design is badass too.
HOORAY MORE CENTAURWORLD LOVE‼️Rider’s lullaby, the Nowhere King’s lullaby, and Comfortable Doug’s song forever live rent free in my head 24/7 I never knew ukulele lady voiced the most annoying character to ever lay eyes on this world but i guess it fits!
I definitely wish we could have gotten more background info (like you mentioned at the end) about Zulius's and Glendale's backstories, and about horse and rider's future together.
My fav character is definitely Zulius! And i have so many favourite songs, including (but not limited to) Nothing Good is Meant to Stay, Rider's Lullaby, Fragile Things, and Nowhere King
This show is what really caught my attention of Kimiko Glenn. She's been doing amazing work lately between Horse, Nifty in Hazbin Hotel, and Kiff (another absolute underrated masterpiece I'd put up there with classic Spongebob for comedy)
Rider’s Lullaby, What If I Forget Your Face, The Nowhere King, I’ve Been Searching For You, Nothing Good, Becky Apples, and Once Shattered Now Whole are all songs I regularly listen to.
That part about the “I lost everything during the war” was SO TRUE when I watched this show the first time 😂 I thought I clicked on the wrong thing. It’s soo good though and needs more recognition
I loved this show so much! Some of the music had me sobbing, especially the first song "Rider's lullaby". The whole first season helped me a lot through grieving and I've heard the same for others too. Also the taurnado song is so haunting beautiful. Wish S2 had more care in it. 😔
I was also quite surprised by this shows rating, at first I wrote it off as a for kids potty humor show. But then I saw my brother watching it and gave it a shot. I loved it so much, I wish they had given it more time in the second season.
the only reason I found this show and watched it was from your video a while back that had a clip of Wammawink and Glendale and I am so happy, it is tied for my favorite Netflix original show (She-Ra)
to give Rider a little credit if i lived my entire life in a war-torn wasteland and saw my best friend die then weeks later fell into a strange magic hole where a chubby cartoonish version of my dead friend started running at me I'd be reaching for my strap too

Athena , you need to do a lore video or Lore lite on Kipo and the Wonderbeasts.
Athena can you please do a Detentionaire and Grossolgy lore vid .
This show scares me
I like to describe Centaurworld as, “what if a Game of Thrones character suddenly found themselves in the Land of Ooo from Adventure Time”.
That actually makes sense
Watched AT and read almost all of the first GOT book, and I have to say that this is the most accurate description I have come across.
Perfect description
Or Wizard of Oz/Wonderland
I needs that description 😂😂😂😂😂
I knew this show had adult humor, but I still wasn’t ready for the scene where the codependent pink alpaca forced the kleptomaniac gerenuk to draw fetish art
No one is ever ready.
this sounds like the insane ramblings of someone on drugs
You should watch the full scene the kinkshaming was relentlessly funny
I don’t think Netflix actually watched the show before giving it its rating
that sentence would make no sense to a victorian era child
If someone had told me that this show would legitimately make me sob because of the character development of a horse, I would have thought they were crazy.
for real, i literally got such an emotional whiplash from this show it's insane 😭
I mean there was MLP but I get ut
This show both has a funny giraffe man with talking farts and a demonic deer skeleton with a terrifying lullaby leitmotif. That basically sums it up.
My Little Pony did that for years
Something go I feel like doesn’t get talked about a lot is how horse’s arc overall is kind of an allegory of veterans trying to rejoin civilian life. Like many veterans have said that they’re overwhelmed by the brightness/colors of places like supermarkets in the same vain than horse is overwhelmed by centaur world
Also I like that of all the shaman the Women has the only peace that isn’t needed to open the doors but turns the key into a weapon
Do veterans that enjoy animation love this show!?😮
The shaman even sings "those war tactics you know, they got no utility! Not in this world!" So absolutely!!
Not sure where the Stockholm part is coming from. Horses and their riders form VERY strong emotional bonds, especially war horses.
I was always curious in seeing fanart on if the main cast adjusted to earth and how their artstyles would change, but I never saw such a thing.
That is such a cool concept
I drew a water baby transformation once
She went over Centaurworld folks, Athena is entering a golden age for sure.
You ain’t wrong
Every Athena p age is golden 😭😭😭
Also, right after this show came out, Wammawink’s voice actress lost her family in a helicopter accident so her performance in the show makes me even more depressed for her
So that's why she was less present in season 2. My condolences to her family, may they rest in peace
Even worse when you think about the helicopter wammawink uses several times in the show 😟😶
@@Justcallmeaqua420 Actually, the 2nd season premiered in December of 2021, whereas the accident happened in September of 2022, so there was no possible correlation between the two.
@@magicdawn1973 Luckily, the accident was a floatplane accident, not a helicopter accident, so there is at least that degree of separation between Wammawink's helicopter and the loss of her sister's family.
Poor Megan man holy shit
this show really has everything. healthy age regression representation. constant body horror and existential terror. canon fujoshi behavior. no one in the cast is under 30. talking fart song that’s a metaphor for the parental neglect of neurodivergent children. little mermaid story that’s both a metaphor for whitewashing yourself out of embarrassment for your culture AND toxic cartoon fans that hate children’s cartoons because animation isn’t respected unless it’s “serious”. egg laying kink. no one will ever do it like centaurworld.
“Healthy agere representation”
(Laughs a laugh that would reduce your bones to ash in person who has to deal with age regression irl)
No.
Congratulations if you have a more positive experience with age regression when it happens to you, if it does, but it is a _trauma response._
Agere doesn’t make you soft and cute and passive.
Rider kinda looks under 30 tbh
forced to act younger is not healthy age regression representation. age regression is a coping mechanism from past childhood trauma.
@@vvirtualecho6938*_thank you for being normal. /gen_*

Same with Mario :D
Holy crap I relate to the whaletaur so much it's insane
@@koy5902 I'm sorry to hear that? (I hope you're doing well.)

@@BlackCherryLimonade also she said that if there were to be a third season. It was gonna be all about Zulius lol.
34:07 I actually herd (lol) a couple of different theories on why they hate WamaWink,
1. That the writers thought that Wama Wink would be a more disliked character (not true from what I’ve seen, but she does give a similar vibe to other disliked characters I’ve seen)
2 it’s because her most important moments weren’t visible to the Birdtaurs, her backstory and the moment in the Whaletaur
i always thought the joke was that it was a parody of how fandoms always arbitrarily hate one character (usually a woman who happens to be pink coded) despite everyone being equally flawed
@@toonydotloony interesting, could you list a few examples?

Hazbin Hotel got green lit for season 4, there is still plenty of time for her to get a solo.
Watch MLP a next generation her character Izzy gets a song all for herself
Okay okay this is something i really wanna mention about this show that i feel should be important.
There are no other elktaurs. The Nowhere King/General is the only Elktaur.
My personal theory is just that elktaurs went extinct and he was simply the last one left and because of this it further made him feel like he did not fit in and was another motivation for him to force himself to fit in.
Based
Or... They could found out the nowhere king was an elktuar and they MADE them extinct 😨

I feel that, except instead of a few months, it’s been since the 8th December of 2021 and I’ve pretty much accepted this show is a part of my life
27:10 I had never actually *thought through* Wammawink's merdude fetish but that actually makes a frustrating amount of sense.
Centaurworld is to Netflix as is Gravity Falls is to disney
Same here! I love this show so much it has the perfect blend of weird yet entertaining at the same time lol
oh my gosh YEAH THE BIRDTAURS ARE HORRIBLE. I also agree that the time crunch Netflix put on the second/final season definitely caused a lot of mischaracterization, especially with Wammawink. I do wonder what kind of set up the writers were going for when Horse recognized the Nowhere King's song.
Yeah it feels like they made half of season to with the expectation of season 3 so then they had to speed things up in the second half to compensate.
I unironically i love/miss this show so much
The look the elk gives the general and the woman during the wedding gave me the same terror I felt while watching moments in perfect blue, specifically the moment where the man held mima in his hand 😨
Yeah that look was so terrifying it gave me this powerful thrill that I only get from REALLY GOOD horror movies
@@koy5902 it's gonna be in my nightmares lol
I know nothing about this show except for the Nowhere King lullaby song, which slaps so hard it’s crazy.
Go watch it!
The Nowhere Kings lullaby was what convinced me to watch the show.
30:15 I mean Zulius did say SOMETIMES it would do that. That doesnt mean it happens every time. Holds up.
I gasped out loud when I saw the title of this video and almost didn’t watch it because I want to preserve it like a little treasure on my shelf
Still one of my favorite shows and I’m happy it at least got a proper conclusion.
pj masks lore and fosters home lore would go ABSOLUTELY INSANe for future reference athena

She should do a video about Hilda, I’ve been a huge fan of the series for awhile!
@@shacharlem4424The reason is the Creator of Hilda is Luke Pearson, the author of Hilda the graphic novels
I regret looking up what a DDLB is
age regression, the term you're looking for is age regression
“Hilarious” wow that’s so horrifying god unbless you in particular.
“Wow it’s really comedic watching someone force you to age regress otherwise they won’t take you to the hospital, because the aesthetics of it are in the girliepop cartoon world” fucking incredible take
The term is safe sane and consensual for a reason.
@@LavenderTea-lr3hcyeah. And forced age regression to make your captors treat you as capable of having humanity is a form of abuse.
I once put a photo of comfortable Doug on his monitor to annoy him like years ago and it's still there.
comfortable doug, despite his name, makes me feel uncomfortable
Unpopular opinion: I always got sad when the human world characters got turned into the centaurworld art style. Purely just because I liked seeing the strikingly different art styles next to them lol
But overall I liked the first season.
She watched as I chased a fishing pole around my house and said ABNORMAL and that’s it…
This needs to be top comment lmfao
I know horse’s transformation was important to her, but her realistic form just looks cooler. The nowhere kings song is so amazing

On my first watch through of the show when there was only one season I legitimately thought this show was for adults because of how prevelant the war was
Just finished solar opposites season 5 and let me tell you, the lore is INSANE. The plot twists and character developments had me SHOOK
I’m sorry, but I NEED to infodump about this! So first things first, SPOILER WARNING ⚠️
I was genuinely so disappointed in Cheri’s character development.
ATHENA!!! DROP SOLAR OPPOSITES LORE AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!
Centuarworld is a show I won't binge watch but will randomly check In from time to time and enjoy most of it. I usually appreciate what is for its morals and style. A very wacky, zany, whimisical... and utterly unhinged style.
despite being an hour long this video isn't even titled "retrospective" or "underrated masterpiece" just: centuarword is weird
so that's the Athena p energy I've heard off.
Hameowlton is the top tier Hamilton parody name. I may be biased since my cat is named Alexander Hameowlton though…
One thing I never got about the hate for season 2 is “the rest of the herd never got their character arcs completed” did… did anyone pay attention watching this show?
God yes I’m so glad you’re here right now lol
Your participation in the centaurwolrd fandom is everything to me.
Edit:
I’d honestly watch the hell out of a direct continuation but for a young adult audience.
I thought Mulan was Ming Na Wen? Or do you mean Lea was both of their singing voices?
Her singing is Lea Salonga
This show is such an insane watch I immediately clicked on the video because I've been trying to hear someone else's reaction to it because THE FINALE IS SO INSANE. absolutely nuts writing and creativity going on behind the scenes (and the beyond star-studded cast which also feels like it melts my brain)
This show’s ending truly changed me. I want to make a show that’s has an ending that intense like damn
Don’t mistake “intense” for “good ending.”
It sucked
OH MY GOD CENTAURWORLD MIGHT JUST GET THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVES? I LOVE YOU ATHENA
It combines so many genres that it becomes its own genre and I love it for that
FINALLY, SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT CENTAURWORLD!! I absolutely LOVE this show!!!
(Especially since all the Minotaurs are just getting reformed despite also killing hundreds to thousands)
(And just fyi, I view there being 4 people who made up the “nowhere king”. That being THE nowhere king, The general, the elk, and the elktaur. Just thought I’d clarify in case what I was saying got a little too confusing.)
i spend way too much time thinking about horse and rider's dynamic lol
Bro there's a really cool au where instead of killing Elktaur the woman fuses with him to keep his evil at bay and it has such good art. I gotta find it again. The design is badass too.
