I love Bowie, and Davies is in my top 5 artists of all time. That being said, he definitely made bad songs. He made entire bad albums. Even being generous, he has his really out there material.
never get tired of listening to waterloo sunset just an amazing song written by a genius word smith always sounds like it was written yesterday pure brilliance
Came for the Davies, stayed for the Bowie. Goshdurnit, imagine being of such stature and yet so completely giving and allowing other people their space. Beautiful.
What a clip - two of Britain's foremost genius songwriters getting together and having fun. Quiet, serious and reserved Davies with brash, confident, charming Bowie. One has gone. One is still with us. Both will live forever.
It's rare to get two British icons together on stage. I mean they don't get much bigger than Bowie, you can count on one hand who is bigger and Ray Davies has gradually over the decades received the accolades to comfirm him in the top five British songwriters of all time and David did a great version of Ray's'Where Have all the good Times gone' back in the mid 70's.
I sat on stage as Dave Davis said help her to security as the stage was mobbed and i happened to be going to my seat and near got trampled. They were kind. At the end of show, i was shown the door that lead out into the parking lot! I got a kiss and and a guitar pick, 1981 or 2? Amazing! Lucky girl ME!
I feel like I've stumbled on an ancient relic of a bygone era. Bowie and Davies sound amazing together and this song is perfect considering they're both London boys at heart!
Despite the ropey sound quality this is a fabulous moment in time where 2 of the most iconic songwriters and performers EVER share a special few minutes together on stage to give a unique performance of a true classic. WONDERFUL.
Two British Giants of music, performing the most beautiful, lyrical and wondrous song about London, together and live-sometimes,the world is a perfect place to be!
Arguably the greatest British single ever recorded. The floor that these gentlenen were standing on was hopefully dismantled, delivered to and reconstructed in an appropriate museum.
I don't know if this is the greatest British single ever written. Or even the greatest Kinks song ever written as it would be hard to find a terrible Kinks song. They had so many great songs, especially the songs that had some social relevance. I am quite partial to celluloid heroes.
I will regret not going to see Bowie until the day I Die. You always think you have time for things.. please Ray, get the kinks back together before its too late 😭😭❤
I love this song and Bowie. Never have seen this until now. Bowie looked so happy. I recently got into this song thanks to blur and I’m so glad I discovered it. It has a special feeling to it
This is the coolest thing ever. Well it's pretty nice to have this. Have watched n listened to this video a few times. Just realized these two greats are backed by the Patti Smith Group w/Lenny Kaye. She played these shows too. So 3 of my favorite things. Thanks!
I can't believe I'm just hearing this song for the first time...I'm in love with it and will probably listen to it over and over for a week, driving my neighbors insane!
It's regarded as a legendary rick piece. The Kinks did everything musically. I mean hard edged to beautiful ballads. Most all their stuff tells a story. It was once said The Stones were pornographic, The Kinks were geographic.
To stumble across this is a rare honour - Mr Ray Davies and the indomitable legend that he was - Mr David Bowie - bliss on a rainy blowy morning in Datca, Turkey
Thanks for uploading this - a look back in time. Spent all my pocket money on Ziggy Stardust album as a young teen.. Finally saw him early 80s in Rotterdam. 2 of the best together. 👍
What a remarkable gem of a bootleg.. Well done, whoever flimed it! ✌😎 My first ever bought 45 single was 'Apeman'. The Kinks are a legendary band that I never saw live, alas. Bowie likewise, but I nearly got to see his last 'Ziggy' gig at Havvaspliff Odeon only to be told that it was sold out when I was third in line from the front of the queue. Yes, we always think there's time enough alright. 😢 RIP
Thank you to whoever uploaded this. Reading some of the comments it appears this has introduced many people to Ray Davies - which can't be a bad thing :-)
Ohmygoodness, I wish there was a high quality recording of the audio of this at least somewhere--only Ray Davies and David Fucking Bowie, two of the most magnificent voices ever, intertwining on one of the single greatest songs ever written. We *need* this in our lives, all of us, the world would be a much better place.
This is incredible. This must have been from the Tibet House Benefit that is held every year at Carnegie Hall. Set list fm shows both Bowie and Ray on the bill.
Incredible! Bowie is my God and this is one of my favorite songs. I had no idea this happened. I need an HQ version of the audio. Thank you for sharing
David Bowie singing with Roger Davies legends how we miss you David thank you for your time on earth no doubt you're extremely happy where you are I'll check your progress & report back....
These English gentlemen bring me back to a place in time that we all miss. Mr Bowie RIP and Mr Davies the world needs people like you.
missing Bowie a lot. spent the weekend listening to him. Hope Ray remains active in the industry
I certainly miss those halcyon days.
They were both big in the 80’s. That’s when I became fans. The Kinks put on a great show.
Thank you. Now (November 2023) is breaking my heart. Anybody else feel that way/
Ray Davies is one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
Bowie did said that Ray Davies never made a bad song. What a phenomenal musician.
I love Bowie, and Davies is in my top 5 artists of all time. That being said, he definitely made bad songs. He made entire bad albums. Even being generous, he has his really out there material.
@@allbottledup9513out there is not bad
@Allbot. You’re CLUELESS
Bowie complements every singinger and their style that he sings with. So versatile and generous.
Bowie's voice on this song seems like it should've always been there.
Love it. Two icons singing a very special song. Waterloo Sunset has the the most relaxing, pleasant vibe.
What an artist Ray Davies is both musician and songwriter. Bowie sadly missed.
With both singing I am in paradise
Two of my favourite local London boys singing my favourite song about my home xxxx
I think Bowie really loved this song and the Kinks and was a big admirer of Ray Davies.
He thought it was the best pop song of all time.
never get tired of listening to waterloo sunset just an amazing song written by a genius word smith always sounds like it was written yesterday pure brilliance
The album, Something Else, is perfect.
man, they sound great together. it's because of bowie, i discovered the kinks and realize how great they are.
Came for the Davies, stayed for the Bowie. Goshdurnit, imagine being of such stature and yet so completely giving and allowing other people their space. Beautiful.
There equals in my mind carving out different worlds of beauty. Im sure they appreciated each other work so much.
Everytime I think of myself running late for school down the Lambeth Walk in the 70s, I hear this song.
Whoever taped this, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

well said youngster
David has not gone he is on Mars. And planet earth will forever be blue.

Well said sir!
My favorite song writer of all time with
David Bowie joining in
This has been my top desert island disc for a long time, but this duet makes it even better. Thank you so much Ray D❤
I wasn’t born in 70s yet. But I’m fucking crying right now in 2023 Im 30yrs old.
I feel like I've stumbled on an ancient relic of a bygone era. Bowie and Davies sound amazing together and this song is perfect considering they're both London boys at heart!
Aye! North and South - Brixton & Muswell Hill specifically.
Despite the ropey sound quality this is a fabulous moment in time where 2 of the most iconic songwriters and performers EVER share a special few minutes together on stage to give a unique performance of a true classic. WONDERFUL.
Goose bumps as soon as Ray started singing.
Both fantastic. Two of the best. Our quintessential Englishmen.

100% agree. Such a perfect song. Two icons.
Ahh.... those Bowie harmonies!
Who? in their right mind would ever give this a thumbs down, it was so mellow, and beautiful!
yeah but a wee rehearsal would not have gone amiss
And it’s Ray Davies for crying out loud!
Two absolute legends. Nothing of this musical quality anymore.
None lover's of great Musicians I suppose. Their loss 🤭
A person who cannot notice beauty or magic and feels no sense of empathy or mystery.
I will regret not going to see Bowie until the day I Die. You always think you have time for things.. please Ray, get the kinks back together before its too late 😭😭❤
Saw them both. Bowie in 76 and the Kinks 1977. Another era.
This is one of my favourite songs of all times, and David Bowie is probably my favourite singer.
This is paradise
@@johnbennett606 These guys are pure magic , they both bring something different to this very fine classic ,,,,,,,,,,,

Amazing collaboration between these two brilliant musicians. This is magical

Bowie knows the score.
I know because I was there

Ray Davies, one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time!
Two legends sharing the same stage.
Wish I could find a video of Ray going electric at this show. I was there and it was fantastic.
Oops...this is 2003. I was there in 2002.
