A key factor in having the best outdoor experience possible is eliminating the hassle of must do camp chores. One of those chores is preparing and purifying water. Of course, there are several ways this can be done. Filters, chemicals, and boiling are all great options, but boiling trumps them all. It is a sure-proof method that will work in warm and cold weather, does not have a chance of breaking like a filter, and can not be used up like chemicals.

Best thing I have found is a copper vessel to boil water. The soot isn't a problem because it seems to be repelled once it get blackened. It's like anodised. You just give it a light wipe and its clean enough to put in the back pack.
But wait there's more. The water boils 25 % quicker

Wow, I like those tips. Thank you! I'll be using some of them during my winter backpacking. Hey, one suggestion -- I suspect you know how to safely manage your fire, but from a video point of view for those that might be emulating your recipe it might be a good example to show a decent bare dirt ring around your fire. Thanks again...

very good tips! All I have available to boil water is an open pot, that’s got straight sides, so how would you solve that?

Use the first tool to hook the handle or bail of the pot, and set it directly on coal, or lift it off the coals.

Can you use any old metal flask, or is there a specific metal type to be used on campfires?

Not a great video,, the area of the fire was not cleared ,,, you can't do one thing right and risk burning down a thousand acres!!

Your reply is a bit lost in translation, but I think I see what you are getting at. Always use best practices when providing something educational so others don't repeat the mistakes.

Poles have clumsiness in pronouncin consonants; you don't have that clumsiness; but then I learned that you are Ukrainian; so the universe hasn't changed after all. [added later: ... though you do pronounce your letter "t" with excessive force atypical of regular Americans].

What the hell did you smoke? He's American, not Ukrainian or Polish (I know I'm late but still).

@@Trad. When you define breeds by their breed, not by their land of birth, then you are acceptable.
I once asked a young woman or late teen "Since your American friend was born in Japan, does that make her Japanese?" She said "no". So the reasoning is "Japanese" is a breed.
Don't let intruders trick you into thinking "birthplace" rather than breed. If you let them trick you that way, then you will not be acceptable.
