GEIRANGER: Over Gaularfjellet's hairpins to Norway's most famous Fjord // EPS. 4 EXPEDITION NORTH

- Dramatic and diverse, beautiful and breathtaking. We are about to enter some of Norways most stunning landscapes. Hairpings, pouring rain, freezing temperatures - nothing could stop us before reaching Norway's most famous Fjord: Geiranger.
After leaving Balestrand and on our way to Gaularfjellet and Geirangerfjord we got to know why Norway is called "the country of Fjords": We drove along two of about 1100 Fjords, Esefjord and Vetlefjord. Then we enjoyed our first real hairpin road up to about 800 meters alltitude at Gaularfjellet to the amazing viewpoint Utsikten.
On our way to Geiranger we followed Gaularvassdraget, reached Innvikfjorden and continued our ride over snowy mountains. But right when we were about to reach Geiranger it started to rain. If we got a good view on Norway's most famous Fjord? Watch this espisode to find out!

Beautiful natural evergreen 👍👍
#1 ... superb video...scenery .....keep the videos coming ...stay safe !!!!
Thank you!!!
Thank you for taking the time to treat us to some wonderful footage of Norway. Still stunning, even in the rain.
I think so too - all the views make up for the rain big time!
Breath taking it was!!!!!! What month was that take? How cold was it?
This was end of July (see description under the video). From 5 degrees Celsius to 25 we had everything. 😁
@@Got2Go your work is magnificent
We travelled to Geirangerfjord in 2018 and fortunately had beautiful weather, and this was in early September. The views from the viewpoint and just breathtaking, and how incredible it would be to do it on a bike compared to doing it in a car, but my bucket list still has riding in Norway on it, so fingers crossed.
I’ve been there several times. Norway is so beautiful, I fell in love with that country.
Be prepared for any kind of weather within one day.
Such majestic beauty of the mountains and thrown in water and you have a piece of heaven. Definitely on my travel list. I can see why you would have to stop often to take pictures. Thanks for the amazing job you do. Cheers
You handle a 1200GS well. You must be tall. The GS becomes more challenging for short riders, though there are short riders who have mastered the big GS.
Yes i am 1.78 (this is even a Version with a extra high seat as it’s not mine), as Long as the Heavy beast drives it’s ok. But better don’t park it wrong 😂
An impressive video for a stunning landscape, depicted in a vivid frame with brushstrokes of snow, mist streaked with green leaning against the mountain...
Excellent...
Antonio, that is very poetic! 😍
Nefes kesen manzaralar. Çok etkileyici, zevkle takip ediyorum.
Geiranger is amazing, I was there on my bike in August. You may have been to early or to late on tour. Early or late summer should be the best, according to other riders I met.
We were in the high season for motorcyclists - but you can always get unlucky with the weather in Norway. We must have been there around 20th of July. July unfortunately was very rainy - the locals said that it was indeed the most rainy July in the last decades... 🤯
The addition of a riding partner permits some very interesting camera angles which include you in the shot, both fore and aft. Had you ridden solo, you couldn't include them. A nice touch. And the drone footage is breathtaking.
Yes I like the ones best from the go pro backwards filming on his motorcycle. Only problem is that he can’t reach it - so we always have to stop so I can reach over to start or stop it manually. 😁
very nice places beautyful view drive safe from philippines
What a dream! To see such beautiful fjords! And surprisingly they're really beautiful in cloudy days too!
Just want to say again how much I enjoy watching your videos. Norway seems a little cold and wet, but the scenery is stunning. And your commentary is always interesting and informative. But what I'm really wondering is, how do you enjoy riding the BMW R 1200 GS? How does it compare to your Honda Africa Twin? And is there any chance you may be switching brands in the future? I think that would make for an interesting video. Maybe just a quick vignette. Anyway, please stay safe, healthy, AND WARM, lol, and keep the videos coming ✌😊👍
I am actually not driving a africa twin - that’s the bike of my travel partner. I am driving a Yamaha Ténéré. And I will for sure make some videos about that when we are at one point reunited again and I have it back from Africa! Meanwhile: the 1200 gsa is Perfect for European roads, but I would never take it to Africa. Too happy and too many things that can go wrong with this bike. But I really enjoy riding it on tarmac and easy off-road 😍😁
Wow, I just discovered your channel and already watched all the videos! Thanks for sharing this with us
Thank you for joining and watching - and maybe see you next week, new video is always released each Thursday! ☺️
Dramatic, diverse...... and "f...... cold" (you forgot :-)) ). But awesome too. Hey, you had meanwhile dry moments. Hope you are getting more. "thumbup"
after the rain comes the sun, they say. :)
Hola.... Que hermosa es Noruega.. Muy bonitos paisajes.. Que exelente video...! 🏍️
I live close to Atlantic road, 15 min drive from home. I see fjords and mountains every day, Nice video and good filming. It takes about 2 hours to drive to Trollstigen and 3 hours to Geiranger. To be honest, this makes me see that we are so spoiled here that we take all this for granted.
The next video will be the Atlantic Ocean road - you will recognize all of it then I guess 😁. And yes, you are super spoiled, it’s so beautiful in Norway! 😍
Geirangerfjord referred to as Norway's most beautiful fjord. Geiranger itself is nice, but I guess it's actually just famous for its location on Geirangerfjord, which is enough to make it worth a visit.
Thank you for letting me join you on your journey. I cannot wait to get away again. Norway looks great. Stay safe. Viel spass.
Werry nice. Good filming. I wich i can go there some day. For me its not that far. ca 500 km. And my Honda is FAST. Thank you.
Thank you very much! You shoulg go for sure!
WOW, what amazing video Lea, and the soundrack was just spot on!! Thank you, can't wait for what's coming!! 👍👍
Thank you, makes me happy you like it! 😍
I did this road trip on my 125cc bike lol. Epic nature for sure!

No Norwegian Bike trip is complete without getting absolutely drenched a couple of times.
Really great video. Made me look forward to the summer!
The video of your moment is so beautiful and gives you a sense of security and peace of mind. From South Korean UA-camr Woongkham.
Incredible view. Once in life I would like to do the tour of 🇳🇴 on a motorcycle. Respect for your work 🇮🇳🙏🙏
You should - it’s a stunning place to visit!
Lea
There's not enough adjectives to describe what you have shown us
This Norway place is here on earth?Lol!
Simply Magnificent Scenery
Just to let you know: it will even get better (I think in about two or three episodes from now will come the most stunning landscape - and as well the best shots I have taken ☺️)
Amazingly simple video with precise contents & beautiful select views of mother nature. God Bless you and ride safe.
I just re-watched some of the earlier films, looking at all those beautiful fjords and mountains I wondered how old they might be and how insignificant the human race really is in the grand scheme of things, brilliant stuff !!
¡¡¡Una Belleza paisajes!!!
¡¡¡Que buen viaje!!!
Saludos desde Colombia 👍👍👍
Very nice, 👍 # 616. Thanks and best regards!
Vetlefjorden means the little fjord, stro fjorden means the big fjord. Btw, your pronunciation of norwegian names almost sound native, very good ;)
Haha, that makes we very happy - whenever I have a Norwegian name in my voice overs I first have to take a deep breath and shiver from fear before I dare to pronounce it 😂😂😂 (no it’s not so bad, but there are a lot of letters like the o that is crossed through that we don’t have in Germany...). Thanks for the info - “little fjord” is very cute.
@@Got2Go Little is normaly vesle or lille in norwegian, vetle is a dialect word found in the area where the fjord is located. The ø is pronounced just like the ö in for example königsberg, so it’s the same sound in german, just a different character.
Amazing places, you are very lucky. Enjoy!!!!
I know, it’s such a beautiful place to ride and I am still so greatful that we could do this journey.
My friend spent 4 years in Norway taking school and had never been there... what a shame!
As a Norwegian I am truely sorry for the bad weather on your trip. Me and my wife actually travelled the same area at around the same dates. Yes its normal that the weather varies, but this summer was extremely bad. But of course the first week after vacation it turned very good. But too late..
Yes, it was really not so good - but we enjoyed it anyways. And: at one point there will come the sun - I promise!!! 😂
Having grown up in the deserts of western U.S. to see such greenery is almost like going to a different planet . Thanks for the snippet of the view!
The most beautiful Rider of the planet ever I have seen ..love your voice your beauty your charming your stuff your camera your bike also..❤❤❤❤
fantastic ... mind-blowing ..❤️❤️❤️ I love this place toooooo much.
Breathtaking views! Norway just went on my post COVID bucket list. Bellisimo ! Thank you for taking all the incredible footage....drone shots, rear cam view, forward view, and spectacular color editing. Beautifully done. Thank you for taking the time to share this footage. Made my day. Kam
Thank you so much for that nice comment! It’s indeed a super beautiful place to ride. But don’t forget your raingear if you do 😂

Great series so far, thank you UA-cam suggestions!
Great that you are joining the journey north! ☺️
Another beautiful video! It's a shame you didn't have better weather! :-)
Thank you very much for those videos. I enjoy each seconds and i see the placed where i could never be .....
Magnificent views !!!
You're too much north in the hemisfer, to expect litle rain....😔😔😔
But the sceneries compensate the rain...😆😆
Greatings from Portugal ✌️✌️✌️
Yeah, should have come to Portugal for less rain (which I btw love - have to come back at one point! 😍)
Amazing that you wait all your life for a fjord, then 20 come along together!
Did you manage to get coffee this time?
All the best from my cafe in Wiesbaden,
Nick
Somehow always struggling with finding coffee in Norway 😂. But all the beautiful fjords make up for that!
Norwegen ist immer eine Reise wert, war 2016 dort, aber wir hatten wesentlich
besseres Wetter, nur in Bergen hats geregnet
Wahrscheinlich ist es wirklich so: jeder wie er es verdient 😂😂😂
Great views! Great vlog quality! Thx 😉👍
Bravo girls! Good job! I'm jealous! keep on!
Great trip,great video,congrats.
End i see that You have visit storfjord hotel in Glomset(im working in the hotel)
All the best.
Oh really? But guess we didn’t meet! It will come more in the next episode!
Thank you Lea for the spectacular views of the fjords of Norway. Despite the rain and obvious cold temps , you seem to have a very enjoyable ride on the twisty roads. Looking forward to your next posting. Cheers. Dan
Yes, always enjoying it - and maybe I already got used to the rain at that point! 😂
Beautiful place ! congratulation for the editing. I think it's one of the best video I have seen. Images, music, your simple but enthusiastic description! well done. Can't wait to see the next one!
Thanks so much for that huge compliment ☺️

Beautiful! What kind of motorcycle are you riding?
Simply beautiful. Watching your videos transport me to your trips. Who knows one of these days we may cross our ways. Very well done.
That would be great! Say hello then if we do so! 😁
Very nice video. Thanks a lot 🙂
You are welcome! ☺️
I will go Geiranger this september. Thanks for sharing.
Such a joy to follow you travel. Most of us never will accomplish in our lives what you did in few months! Again, thank you for showing us world!
You are very welcome! Great that you joined the journey - and I think it doesn’t matter if it’s a Ride to north cape or Africa or just exploring around your hometown - important thing is to get out there! 😁
Superb scenery...fabulous place to ride 👌. Nice video. Cheers, Steve
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Another fantastic episode lea and as always the filming was amazing. Shame about all the rain but it didn't appear to stop you getting some stunning recordings 👍🇬🇧
No that day was actually okay - as long as the rain stops every now and then I was a happy camper. But then there were as well days when it didn’t... 😒😂
Beautifull
Beautiful!
Amazing views, love it
Buongiorno sempre avanti ragazzi.... Mamma mia bellissimo posto..
"If it rains in Norway, it pours". Not really, most rainy days are simply light showers.
Btw, great video. Many years ago I lived in Hellesylt, where you would have arrived if you had taken the ferry from Gerianger. So nice to see footage from a region I know well, but haven't been to in 20 years :)
That’s not what we experienced, maybe we were unlucky but from two weeks in Norway I think we had about 8 days heavy, pouring, nonstop rain 😅. But I am happy you like the video!
It truly is breathtaking 😎
I know 🤯😍
Thanke you for sharing your videos.
"Pack your rain cots" ;)) Yeah... if you live in a wealthy country like Swiss it`s not a problem, my dream is to take my wife to Swiss but it is too expensive, maybe same day...maybe
Yes, Switzerland and Norway are about as same expensive - they are both on top of the list of most expensive countries in the world 🤯
OMG.!... Such beauty! What an amazing ride. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome - Norway is so beautiful indeed!
Like your video graphy and voice
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing it.
Tusen Takk for this video. My Great Grandfather was born in Balestrand, Norway. My fathers family roots are deep in Balestrand and the Fjearland Fjord. I'm very grateful for your work & experience.
Rain or no rain, it all is so BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Thank you for sharing your journey with those of us that will never have the opportunity or health to be able to do it. Safe travels and God Bless and protect you.
UA-cam put one of your videos in my suggested feed this morning and now I can't stop watching them 😊
I've only been riding 6 years now and have the touring bug. It's quite an inspiration how you managed to overcome the challenges of COVID and planned a trip that's probably just as exciting as Africa! You reminded me of my situation where I cancelled so many trips this year, including a much awaited trip from the UK to the Dolomites in Italy. I've been there before but now I have my dream bike and wanted to do it again.
Instead my friends and I managed to plan a last minute trip to the South of France visiting the Cevennes, Ardeche, Vercors and returning via the Route de Grande Alps, 10 days and 6000km later. This was a much needed trip and I feel quite satisfied that I was able to do what I love despite the circumstances.
You have an amazing talent in preserving and presenting your beautiful memories, making them very viewable and thoroughly enjoyable. I look forward to continuing the series and watching more of your content.
Hopefully we may meet one day on our travels. Ride well, stay safe and live life to the max 😀
@PritVader
Really beautiful views there!! I'm enjoying this journey so far, the video is wonderful quality too!
It didn't let pass that your partner reduced his speed at 5:00 for a crossing bird, a small detail, but I appreciate it! I've seen a video of other motorcyclist who is closing to a crossing (big) bird and he didn't even touch the brakes and slammed it!! So his was a good action :)
Impresionanteeeeee, super beautifull.
Absolutely beautiful views. Thank you. Ride safe and have fun. 🇺🇸
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Stunning Drone footage. A truly beautiful video many thanks Lea.
Thank you - was so sad though I couldn’t fly the drone over geiranger due to rain and wind...
Kjemperbra.
So much rain! I will put on rain gear to join next episode. Great to be on your trip.
🌧 ☔️ 🏍 looking forward to travel with you!
Magnifique!!!! Much is gracias. 😁👌🏻
That bird you scared up just after leaving the viewpoint was a willow grouse
Which time exactly?
Wow, you noticed AND identified that one! I nearly drove into my travel partner but didn’t want to ruin my video by stopping my talking 😂
Ist‘s around 5:00
Beautiful footage, love it! Safe journey!
Thank you for having us along for the ride! It looks beautiful riding alongside those fjord’s despite the weather. We went Geiranger on a ship in June a few years ago, it was cold and wet then too🌧. Thank you for another great episode Leah.
That Must have been quite an experience too! People told us that we were lucky though - because normal Years it can get quite crowded by all the huge boats on the fjord - so I guess our view was a bit more „quiet“ than it usually is. 😁
@@Got2Go I have a photo of the ship in the fjord and it looks out of place it’s so big. I’d post it here if I knew how! I guess it brings money to the local economy but the fjords look better with bikes than ships 😀.
