DISCLAIMER: Katelyn didn't run the world record pace for the whole 3k race, only the last kilometer. Katelyn Tuohy ran 2:45.53 last kilometer in her 3k race at the ACC Championships. 2:45 is the pace of the current 3k world record set by Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba with a final time of 8:19.
She ran that final kilometere with no one pushing her and did it so comfortably. No sign of stress or tightening up.she didn't appear to be pushing at all. She can definitely go a lot quicker than this.
That’s because she spends most of her time working hard to improve her performance while the other chicks spend most of their time trying to get boyfriends.
@@gabrielvillegas5508 you can compliment women without discrediting the hard work the other women did to even be in that race. plus, katelyn tuohy also has a boyfriend. nothing wrong with having a personal life outside of running.
She's not human, she's a machine. All the other runners at the end are gasping for breath, laying down, etc, and Katelyn is just standing sipping her drink like she's not even breathing hard! I am not an expert on stride, but, here's look so perfect, when she really opens up, if she really ever has, it so smooth...
Been watching her progress from high school. Kid is going to dominate in a few years - and likely pull her share of gold from the Olympics with her name on a few hard to beat records.
As someone who has run a 2:39 indoor 1000m, I can really appreciate just how fast she's going. She's got so much more range of motion than me and she's obviously squeezing her glutes more than using her quads for stride length. Ass strength > quad strength for middle distance.
I'd like to see her start her push earlier in each future race. She doesn't have to try and run this pace for the entire race, just do it incrementally. The "jogging" at the beginning was her warmup but once she starts running with other collegiate runners not in the ACC, she's going to have to run a solid first half. Once she gets to that point, a mid 8 minute run should show up this year, maybe not indoors but definitely outdoors. She's only 20 and distance runners usually get better with age.
Katelyn wasn't even breathing hard just after crossing the line, definitely felt like Katelyn if seriously pushed had least one more high speed gear left in her encase of emergency.
I have never been into women’s sports but watching his young lady is incredible. I sure wish I had known this meet was in Louisville I would have went.
Interesting tidbit? Is she going to run the 5K or 3k? I believe she could win either one but it will be a greater challenge to win both. Of course she ran both last year in the NCAAs and that was a real brake out moment for her. So will she go big in one of the races to lower her marks or run both with a strategy to win. I’m thinking both because indoor is all about training for the outdoor season.
I've noticed that a lot of elite runners have pronounced shoulder slumps. I would have thought that their intense physical training would preclude that. Is it inherit with running or is something they do unconsciously?
Its evident that Katelyn has a lot of upper body strength that contributes to her running style. Her upright shoulders allow her to open her stride by moving her core backwards somewhat.
Katelyn is obviously taking it easy in this race, she could have easily ran this pace from the start instead of holding with the pack! Just let the girl loose to run her own race coach Hennis.
If the race had another minute she would have been lapping the slower runners .. (which I find a bit amusing as the 'slower' runners would have blown me away when I ran in the Army) .. and those girls have NO excess fat .. geeze

Give her time bro. She’s getting there. ❤️❤️
Hopefully she will break world records in the future. She is so smooth, one would say a near perfect running form beautiful to watch
So much heart! How can you not LOVE what this kid is doing !!!! 🏆
Admire how she makes it her job to go to and speak with all the other competitors after the finish. Class.
She is very good, I hope she becomes great when it's time to run against the world. I've been following her from high school days.🙌

2:53 - was she even breathing hard? Probably, but it doesn't look it.
The gap at the end of the race visually illustrates the gap between Tuohy and the rest of collegiate distance running right now.

Love these videos and love watching her run so effortlessl.. she's a machine. Keep up the good work
Loved the Standing O at the end. This race reminded me of her HS races a bit. Her motto - Start Fast. Stay Fast. End Fast. Can’t wait ‘till NCAA
Congratulations to a world class athlete and sports personality.
The surprising thing is that after 3000m she doesn't even seem winded.
keep on having fun take care

Every time she races records are in danger. When everyone else is slowing down, she's going faster, she's just awesome!

Let's hope so but Ethiopia and Kenya aren't going nowhere.

Amazing she is running against the wind 💪
Wow is all I can express about her ability
Hopefully some day she will break the world record. I think it’s in her playbook.

Just WOW
Way to go Katelyn!
Da seguridad de principio a fin.
Muy bien.
Jim Valvano would be so proud 👏 !!
Katelyn was so far ahead, by the time the other girls finished, she had already caught her breath.
She was able to run this fast because I had arranged to have a date with her after the race and told her not to be late.

loving it
Realmente Katelyn es de otro planeta, tiene un don y una disciplina que muy pocas atletas tienen, felicitaciones y saludos desde Los Sauces Chile.
I grew up watching Jeremy Wariner, then it was Bolt, now it’s The Katelyn Tuohy.! What a year she’s having 🍻
She doesn’t seem very winded after that dominating performance

There's dropping the hammer and then there's...that.
It's so cool that she loves what she does and will perhaps with luck only get better. Poetry in M0tion.
Good job keep it up

I the the world record is around 8:15. Her best is 8:35 so a sub 8:30 would be great to see assuming she runs the 3K at nationals.

I’m always amazed with runners. Is it the leg strength pushing off at every stride that causes the lead?
So much more, you need strong core, endurance and raw speed a.k.a *talent*

How old is she? I just started following these videos with her running.
She is 20 years old, already a multi NCAA champion and broke 3 NCAA records just this season

She runs like a tremendous machine. Where did we heard the same sentence but instead of her it was a he?
Imagine how this whole thing would be ruined if Michelle Cutmydickoff was running.
And she's not even breathing hard.
didnt look good at ncaa last nite. i wonder if she is injured
Make the most of it before the Lia Thomas of middle distance running turns out.
Complete flop at the outdoor meet. Has she peaked and the competition caught up and passed her?
