Mona Toyoshiro You did such an excellent job guiding us Mona! Thank YOU for being patient with me filming and doing a great job explaining things to us ALL (and I mean the 100,000+ people who will watch this) we really appreciate it from start to finish and look forward to hearing from viewers who watch this and try the food tour with you. They’re sure to have a lot of fun with their new Kyoto friend Mona! お疲れ様でした!-John
My 6yr old son was playing when he heard your intro music and he ran in and said "Mom!! Dont watch it without me!! I love that show!!"... seriously, my kids LOVE your channel. We have been watching it for years now together. ♡
I used to be depressed and lonely all the time but once I watched your videos, they helped me alot and always cheer me up. Keep up the good work John! :-)

Thanks for the great video, I know my son Sawyer and his wife Dakota had a great time with you. What a treat for her parents to experience with you guys. Makes me miss the kids and Japan. So well done. I am now a fan of your channel.
I’m glad there’s another expat that loves this country for what it is, someone who has a channel exploring the beauty of Japan on many plateaus- not simply dwelling on or subtly poking at or giggling at the quirky differences to have to western culture for the sake of becoming a UA-cam celeb.
Awesome video, John! We were in Kyoto in May (honeymoon) and stayed in Gion for a week. Completely fell in love with the area. We miss it every day, this video helped curb that longing a little lol
Someone please recruit this guy ! I've been a fan of this channel for years now always great content you can feel how much time he spent on directing and editing. So much effort so much dedication. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK JOHN ❤
another cool video about a destination i didnt have the chances to visitthe way i would like in 2013 my jetlag was so tought sleeping at my minshuku was respectfull kiyomisudera and gion was the places visit i mist so much japan john keep on good vids! the best
I think she is a university student who will be doing this job for a few years. She lived in the US which is why she speaks English well :) The food was excellent! Great variety of local Kyoto and typical Japanese cuisine.
In Sept 2019 I visited Kyoto and took this same tour. It was humid but the food and types of Sake were tasty & remarkable. Did not see Geisha and understood from guide books that it is not good form to photograph them. The different types of Sake (especially the dry Sake) was delightful. The big crowds and humidity were difficult to handle but would gladly visit again.
Hey john just wanted to say your content has really had an effect on what I plan to do and where I plan to go and I really appreciate how much work you put into your content, no wonder why you got such a big channel so keep up the great work😁👍
My first trip to Japan my friends and I head to Kyoto first. Had the chance to experience Gion at night and it was magical! Felt like we went back in time! Definitely missed that place.
I wish you made this video before I went to Kyoto...now I want to go back... thanks for sharing a different side of discovering this part of Kyoto. Appreciate the info especially the tour. More of this kind pls....
What a great video! Really cool to see Kyoto at night. I love how much Japan really embraces their history and loves to show it off to the world to see everyday
Thank you John for all your great videos. Thing is I've become obsessed by the Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band, and I've already put it on my bucket list to visit Japan and see these incredible kids perform live one day. I sincerely hope you will have the opportunity to make a video about them. I know there are plenty of international fans that would love to see a video about and learn more about them. They are really something!
Hey John you know we watch your videos daily in our JLPT class our Sensei shows us ......it helps us a lot understand the culture and know about the country ❤️😇
Haha! Hey that's my step dad :) He came to visit us in Kyoto and we were lucky enough for the timing to work out with this video shoot! My husband and I got married at Crane Brewing :) Nice to meet a fellow Crane fan

Food is the gateway to all culture. Especially true in Asia. People can argue their butt off about everything. When mealtime comes, people would all sit down and eat.
Just recently found this channel and I’m loving it! Every video gave me a nostalgic feeling like I went back to Japan! If there is any vacant on your team sign me up!
Great video john. Now I've got a few more places to check out when I get to go back and able to expand my view of japan. Sadly I do not drink alcohol so some spots I'll avoid. But never the less I want to check these places out.

Hello Daub-San, another great video! I have watched all of them. It is very important to have a local as a guide, at least a Japanese person. I have been to Japan six times for work, Bridgestone. Every time I had a guide from the company, so it made the experience easy. This would be an excellent way for a tourist to have a great time! Be well, Daniel from Aiken, SC USA
Bridgestone! The HQ is down the road from me! I researched the history a few months ago - interesting on the name. Will have to buy a Bridgestone bicycle! Glad you've been able to visit Japan so often and yes - a good guide can make a huge difference! Thanks Daniel.
Wow these tours seem to be pretty amazing! Especially great for when your're traveling alone, which I plan on doing so this video is very mucg appreciated ^_^
