These are the molehills that Democrats turn into Mountains. It just makes the right think that ALL our mountains are molehills. It sounds like Mitch has a tic. Not a twitchy tic, but a thing thay happens where he isn't all connected. Give him a break. If he had a twitchy tic (or a stutter, or polio) then we would ignore it. If he pauses, check your phone. I never like McConnell, and his machiavellian tactics. But, his problems are due to a concussion, not age. My dad had similar dizzy spells, after a head injury, and he'd hold totally still when they hit him, because any movement made it much worse. Anyone claiming that McConnell should retire because of his concussion, who is not calling for Fetterman to quit the Senate, because of his stroke, is a raving hypocrite.
They need to get rid of this rule where our government can be shut down like this, hurting working people while republicans blackmail democrats. 😡😠🤬

Lavonda, as an RN, I have realized that most of the elderly and infirm are NOT realistic about their actual abilities. MOST of them still think they can do things that are now impossible for them to accomplish, but that is because they once WERE able to achieve that goal. I cannot tell you HOW many times I have heard the elderly or infirm brag that they can kick someone's butt for them, or defend themselves, when they cant even stand UP without assistance. As they lose strength, they also usually lose cognition, and are unaware that they are feeble and unable.
We the people don’t want things to “continue on as normal”! What is happening to him isn’t normal, it’s unhealthy. He needs to retire and enjoy his last few years.

The only agenda the GOP has is: 1. remove education for the poor and middle class, 2. remove the ability to retire, 3. No affordable medical insurance, 4. Wealthy and corporations pay no taxes 5. No living wage, 6. Put children to work ASAP and make them work until they are too old to be useful then make sure they die before they become a burden on the wealthy. I can prove the above with actual state laws passed in red states.
One sure way to get people excited about working until they die is to offer them a job in Congress.
Are the personal lives of these politicians so terrible that they would rather spend every last moment of their time here in this world at work. we need to pass a law which states no one can hold an office or position beyond 65. So the oldest president elect could turn 65 in their last year of office only. And any other office.

I think 65 to 80 year olds are too politically active for three-fourths of the State legislatures to approve such an amendment to the Constitution. An age limit of 90 might seem outrageously high, but if it is worded such that no one may run for an office if during that term they will reach that age, then the three-fourths approval of States may really be achievable. This would also limit the life terms of SCOTUS justices. Only some of those in their 80s or above would push back on that, and they are too small in number to stop it. Life expectancy since the writing of the Constitution has risen, although lately it has gone down. But if the nation makes progress, life expectancy should go up, and an age limit of 90 would more frequently force retirement from federal politics. I suspect the young below 80 in that time would prevent three-fourths of the States from raising the limit. You have to look at what will get the approval of the States. Once you get the amendment into effect, you can try to lower the limit later.

I don't care what spin they are putting on his "episode". It is very hard to see what is going on in the brain except by symptoms, just as there is no test or measure of pain or memory. That was definitely a serious neurological malfunction. A negative test does not mean something has been "ruled out". Warning to those who ignore the body when it cries for help.
McConnell should resign. He’s obviously losing his i Mind why should a man at 81 years old what times doesn’t even realize where he is or what he is saying being such a powerful position. Is too old and does not want to admit it.
My dad started having those freezing spells a couple months before he died, and it used to scare me. It looked like his electrical system shorting out, like his neurons weren’t firing.

Everyone seems to get on the "enact an age limit' bandwagon in these situations. McConnell's episodes are to do with some illness. Blaming this purely on age is just age discrimination. I can think of plenty of quite young politicians who are far less mentally capable of hold office than McConnell is (e.g. Behobert, MTG, etc.). Still, Mitch needs to step down as does Feinstein.
It's not age or any other demarcation. The guy's not fit for office; period.
Implementing something more subjective yet of good effect might be hard to do. Certain savants under the age of 35 might make an outstanding President, but the founders felt they had to set a qualifying age without exceptions. Perhaps an age limit could include tangible metrics for granting exceptions for extension, but the howling of the opposition might just add to division in the country. If a limit were set very high, like 90, because most thought it could actually pass 3/4 of the States, it might weed out a Strom Thurmond, but over time, if health generally improves, such a limit would have the effect of prompting appropriate retirement more often. It might be hard to get the States to raise the age.
