What an anthem. Notice from 0.21 how his French horn accompaniment behind the melody moves from closed position chords to more spread out harmony. Majestic. Zimmer puts a musical ring in the nose of the audience and tugs expertly.

It's the patriotic duty. The morning of those made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Those who didn't come home so their brothers would. Then the crescendo is our military making sure that sacrifice was not in vain. Making sure the enemy loses 10 or more for every 1 of ours

"Congressman Weaver and esteemed members of the Special Armed Services Committee, I come before you to protest a grave injustice." as a former Cavalry officer of 7 years, one of the hardest things is loosing men and women under your command, you feel like its your fault, and to some degree....it is. they followed your orders and those orders cost good folks their lives. something they were willing to give already, but it doesnt make it any less painful. but what would have made it unbearable is if none of those men and women under my command had been recognized for the Honor, Bravery and Valor they brought to my unit. i can honestly say i understand Hummel's motives. no matter what, Men and Women of the armed forces who pay the ultimate price deserve to have their deeds known to some degree. even if their mission was of the highest secrecy, the families deserve some form of closure, of assurance that their son or daughter didnt sacrifice their life for nothing. but enough of my ramblings, im just a Cav scout who wishes he could turn back time and correct mistakes he's made and bring home peoples sons and daughters who have more worth than me.
Well said there. It was tragic to see him die from his own plans that have backfired, would've been nice to see an aftermath of his actions; the US government who are now compelled to finally give reparations to the families or something.

If anyone is a FF fan or a fan of VIII, little fun fact but the part of the song at 4:28 is similar to the original track to the Raid on Dollet in the demo. They had to change it so they didn't get sued. The new version The Landing, is similar but not as on the nose lol.

Because of temp music. When movies are edited, temporal soundtracks of older films are used so that directors can get a feel for the mood, when the score is finally composed, directors will often ask the composers to make it similar to the temp music. So, pirates of the caribbean (which use the exact same song as Gladiator) probably got the music from here. It wouldn't be surprising considering it's even the same composer.

Sean Connery??????? He was superb too

Sean Connery was good.. but that Shower Scene between Ed Harris and Michael Biehn was sublime.. Oscar worthy performances from both of them..
