When meruem observed how insane netereo truly was in order to achieve such a power is one of my favourite scenes in anime period. It was at that point he realised that he wasn't fighting a human but instead was fighting a monster.
DevilluTionisT gri You have to understand that the power source nen itself is very limited. So it doesn't matter how long Meruem would've lived he wouldn't be growing at this rate forever, to be honest he was at his peak in physical growth the only thing he lacked was the mental.
Daylyt he lacked experience.nothing more.how is he lacking mental when he is so smart.he lost becuz he didnt know what humans can do.hiding a bomb in a body
The scene where Netero claims he wouldn’t talk with Meruem because he’s afraid they may come to an understanding. Is when I realized this series is one of the greatest things ever made.
@@myoldchannel0Because Netero isnt your actual good wise guy that you see in most animes. His intention was to eradicate Meruem by any means, not to resonate him or trying to understand him. That makes him the bad guy in this situation, even tho he ironically does it to "save humanity"
The most telling moment is his final, legandary words. "Meruem, you know nothing, of humanities infinite potential for malice/evolution". So much depth in that *1* sentence! If I was going to suggest a video you might not already have planned, I'd be ecstatic for a video on that line or just the rose in general.
that was honestly the rawest line in the entire series. i'd never felt as much pride and disgust simultaneously at humanity, because like...what a human thing. for all the chimera ants talked about evolution and how quickly they did, that was something they could never match - our capability for destroying ourselves.
"Humanity will evolve to survive. They are Winners." I dont know, i dont know. I mean, have you seen the newest video of 'Some More News'? The 1 about Humanity running out of Water thx to Stupidity?
Togashi said "it's going to take 8 years and 10 hiatuses, i'll write dozens of chapters that take place in the same 2 minutes of time, and I don't feel like finishing most of the drawings." and he wrote the greatest story of all time.
He's enlightened. He essentializes both the best and worst aspects of humanity. Even his Nen ability reflects this multiple times: A goddess of mercy used as an instrument of death; Hand Zero embraces a person with unconditional love and compassion, yet blasts them with the power of a sun. And even that is oversimplifying--like Guanyin, he's a man of 1,000 faces and 1,000 hands. No one is truly simple. It's precisely that duality that makes us human, and it's exactly why his fight with Meruem is so thematically resonant. The /fight itself/ is the conversation Meruem wasn't willing to have. There was no way to show him what humanity truly meant otherwise--what it was and what it could be in its best and worst. And for every assumption Meruem has, it's soon broken, and he's addressed (in a rather cliched kung-fu master manner) as an "ant." Fittingly, after showing the most exceptional, positive aspects, it's precisely the most cruel aspects of humanity that end up "winning" the fight. This goes over Meruem's head at the time, but it sows the seeds for later. It's precisely that arrogance in your power that leads you to commit atrocious things So as counter-intuitive as it seems, it's then fitting that as powerful as he is, his nen takes the form of the goddess of compassion/mercy. Strength/power is used to save people--and in the end I argue that it saves Meruem, even the worst of it. "Good" or "bad"/"light" or "dark" oversimplifies things at this point. He's human, nothing more or less.
Netero's ultimate goal is to push humanity, and when he finds someone who isn't willing to advance the human boundaries, to fight with all its soul... Netero doesn't care if the other person dies. It can be seen in his influence from beyond the grave, He forces humainity and the hunter association to the new continent. Evolve or perish. The ones who can't keep up will die, that's the price of the unlimited potential Netero talks about
@@hiperbird I think that's why he was scared that he would be persuaded and won over. It's because Meruem was the ultimate challenge for humanity he would push many of them beyond their limit and root out the weak that Netero looked down upon so much and having him carry out his plan would bring out the potential that Netero saw in humanity to its fullest extent.
I recently came across your channel, and started checking our some of your videos. I must say these videos are extremely impressive, thought provoking, and overall very informative. Your content is very underrated and I have a feeling your channel will become very big over the course of 2017. I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into every single video you make, and that is something I'm rarely seeing anymore. So needless to say I've gained some major respect for you, and I hope to see you achieve some big things :) And above all else you've gained yourself a new fan, and my support if you ever need anything!
Thanks so very much, I really appreciate it! Hopefully you're right - I'm happy with what I've achieved with the channel so far but I definitely feel like I can make a breakthrough sometime this year. And I'm so happy that the passion shines through, because I really love doing these. Anyways, thank you again, it means the world :)
It was a fight collectivism vs individualism; internal validation of individual vs external validation of collective (ants); that's why Netero said you are dangerous. To gain external validation from everyone you need to enslave everyone; because there always people that don't validate you external
I've gotta say, the way you start off videos with a broader topic and transition to the character at hand has really gotten very good. I thought Id mention it because its something that can be overlooked
Aleczandxr i think the most simple way to describe netero is that hes just a more battle hungry version of goku or any of those battle hungry shonen protag
I just noticed from the description that you finally have a Patreon. About fucking time. As soon as my finances improve a little I'm supporting the hell out of you, you deserve it my man.
Thanks so much, it means everything. But don't pledge if your finances aren't healthy! I get on fine and you already do more than enough by supporting and commenting all the time. :)
For me Netero's use of the bomb.wasn't an act of altruism. Tho he did that for human race as well, the most important part there for him was that he won't let Neruem live because he was too proud for that. He is an ultimate hunter and he can't let his prey get away from him. He'll do everything needed, but he'll achieve his goal, he will finish the hunt. In the end he was like "Bravo Meruem, you are stronger than me, I admit that, but you are not surviving the battle with me. From the moment we became opponents, you were fated to die"
I don’t believe I said that it was an act of altruism. And if I did, it was definitely only in regards to his attitude towards humanity, but clearly there was some ego in there as I insinuated throughout the video.
The term "Neteru" means an angel / god in ancient Egypt. Look up the details behind its definition, and contemplate the correlation of how Netero's character unfolded during the Chimera Arc. Brilliant.
There is a book called "Metu Neter" which means "Word of God" in the Kemetic (ancient Egypt) language. Once I knew about Neteru I made the connection to that book. Also, the names of the Royal Guards comes from Egyptian deities.
The royal guards' names are all combinations of Egyptian deities and characters from a french children's story called "Caroline et ses Amis". Neferpitou is Nefertem, being one of the first to arise from the primal waters, very much like Pitou was the first of the Royal Guards to be born. Shaiapouf is Shai, being the deification of fate, maybe speaking to his manipulative nature? His Nen being manipulation, and he desires for nothing other than for the king to fulfill his potential; his fate so to speak. Menthuthuyoupi is Menthu (more commonly known as Montu), being a god of war, speaking to Youpi's absolute rage. Pitou, Pouf and Youpi being the names of the characters from the french stories.
Isaac Netero, to Meruem[1] When? When did I start waiting for my opponent to make the first move? When, indeed? It became a routine. The loser held out his hands in gratitude for the lesson and I graciously accepted without skipping a beat. As if that was what I wanted!! That's not how it should be!! For so long, I sought the height of perfection. I dreamed of giving my heart and soul to battle an unstoppable adversary!! I'm a lucky man. I'm thankful for everything that led me to this point...that led me to you!!
One thing I noticed: after using Zero Hand, Netero lowers his right hand toward the earth-- a gesture representing Buddha's awakening with the earth as his witness.
Netero can't die of age so understandably he gets board of life His life is a tragedy as he trained for ultimate power but never could use it. He trained to protect friends and family but will out live them all and sea them die. To him death is a joke he lives to test his power against strong people and that's why he suicid bombs meruem he does it because his one dream has been forfilled and his life is complete
Jo Jo honestly, I'm not sure he would have died if he had met more half decent opponents during his life, as that would have led him to better maintain his nen. The only reason he got so physically old is because he rarely used his full power. As with muscles and intelligence: use it or lose it.
Netero's goal isfinding an opponet of his strength but also, evolve humanity, force the species and the hunter association to situations where they have to evolve or survive
Not just any bodhisattva, it's Guan Yin in her thousand arms form. If you ever read the old tales, it talks how she vows to liberate "all beings" from their own karmic woes and/or the cycle of rebirth. That's how she got those 10000 arms and eyes. How much perseverance do you need to have in order to liberate "all beings" from their own karmic cycle? To me, bodhisattva Guan yin symbolizes unlimited perseverance to achieve great thing. A human without significant talent like Netero can achieve great thing.
+Aleczandxr hey thanks as always but there is one thing. when i read the manga netero said "king of ants ,meruem! YOU STILL HAVEN'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING ! dont understimate the limitless potential of human malice!" before exploding. in the anime subs of different groups he says "dont underestimate the limitless potential of human evolution!" i read somewhere that in japanese it means the same ! when i was watching that scene i expecte him to say the "malice" line as it was more fitting , what are your thoughts on this matter?
c@mbaz It's one of those HxH debates that I don't really tend to take a side on because either fits imo. Evolution fits the theme of the Chimera Ant arc better while Malice is more telling of Meruem's perspectives. Either way it's a great line for me.
I liked how in the chimera ant arc, the enemy had a different reaction to all the main cast. Gon lost himself, Killua was sad, Netero became something that can not be described, but can fully understand when seeing it.
You didn't just gave him justice, you've dressed a magnificent depictation of one of the most interesting and profound character of this series. As always i cannot thank you more for your amazing work on this channel ❤ If i can put words on Netero, i would say that he is that kind crazy grampa who does stupid and obnoxious things for whatever reason but who has also live for a long time so he can come up with some pretty deep thoughts and lessons about life. And without you ever fully realize, he's gone and it's just when you final grow up both mentally and physically that you understand these words that he gave you back then. Deep, Mad, devoted, amused but mostly beautiful in a lot of views : Isaac Netero.
Well thanks ever so much Josh. Your support has been amazing. :D And your description of Netero is spot on, truly a one-of-a-kind character. Beautiful in a lot of ways, just like you said.
Leon M not only is it dead, but it killed itself to prove a point. (I think the author is acting sick to say fuck you to the manga overlords that press mangaka to write themselves to death)
I promise I won't mention Chrollo anymore, especially when you're providing such interesting and well presented content. As you've said before, just let his analysis come naturally to you. Don't worry about a schedule.
I always knew that I loved Netero as a character, but I never quite realized just how complex he was thematically to the overall story of Hunter x Hunter. If you're looking for the next topic, might I suggest Leorio or Kurapika? Maybe there isn't enough there to target Leorio, but he stands out to me as a rare exception to the "non-fighter characters are typically irrelevant to a fighting series" notion. As for Kurapika, I've been especially interested in his arc after his first bout with the Phantom Troupe, because while his actions/the fallout of that arc are very atypical for a "vengeance-seeking" anime character, he hasn't completely forgone his quest to kill the Phantom Troupe. I always compare him to Sasuke Uchiha in that regard, as, while both are in many ways the same, their ideals are vastly different.
Kurapika is a fantastic idea and I'm really looking forward to covering him, but I'll be waiting a while before I do him. Leorio is a great idea and definitely worth a video.. I might tackle him sooner than Kurapika.
I totally agree with you about how hard it is to describe this anime to others. In the end, just like you, I end up saying something along the lines of it's just awesome and you should watch it.
It's just so filled with amazing stuff that no description could do it justice. I could maybe describe the arcs (except CA), but that doesn't do the fine details of the series justice either.
that's exactly the way i started hxh. i was initially turned off with how the show looked on the surface level , then my friend shoved the anime onto my hdd and forced me to watch it.best thing which ever happened to me. thanks for the video , netero is my favorite character in the entire series , so much complexity to that charecter. although for me when i first started to have doubts on him not being the old sensei architype was when he selfishly let himself loose to steal the ball from Gon and Killua when they were about to catch it.
When i first watch a few episode,i thought this was a pretty childish anime, then i stop watching, after seeing the praise of this and probably a few youtube videos,i watched again and when i reach the exam arc,i was excited,it was really interesting,i keep watching till Nen was introduce,i got more interested and now I dont regret watching this one bit,It will be the best anime there is....Even backstory are interesting
Thank you for your work. I'm more grateful than I could ever express myself probably. I am passionate about story-telling and to see through your work is a benediction. Listening to a passionate guy about the beauty of those stories makes me undoubtebly feel grateful. I was thinking about translating into french if that's okay with you. I really want a maximum of people to enjoy your work.
Your channel is absolutely amazing I can only deeply thank you for these videos which are so interesting. I'm always captivated from 0 to the end and I found your parralel between Netero and Humanity in general mind blowing ! Keep it up I don't have any suggestion else than do what you like ^^
Thank you very much Marc, I should thank you for watching. I'm happy that I can captivate you with these videos and maybe help you learn something new or different from before.
There's a friend I'm trying to convince to watch the show, and I think that instead of trying to explain it and making an ass out of myself and the anime, I'm just gonna link him to Super Eyepatch Wolf's 40 minute video explaining the exact same thing. He does a much better job than I could. The only problem is that the "Why You Should Watch" video is, itself, the length of two episodes of the actual series, so all we need now is a "Why You Should Watch Why You Should Watch Hunter x Hunter" video to link first.
Your ability to deconstruct characters, isolate each trait and thematic undertone, and then be able to articulately analyze and compile them in a much more digestible format is astounding to me. This isn't the first time I've watched one of your videos and been blown away, and it most definitely will not be the last. You have earned a subscriber. Great job on the video.
I feel that the character studies of fictional characters leads to a better understanding of the real world. These character analysis are a beautiful work art that will be successful in the future or for however long you wish to grace your audience with more content. UA-cam is ugly beautiful thing and I love it. ❤️
Just wanna say this is my facorite video of yours, I always find myself coming back to watch after all these years. Thanks for this one, it made me understand and fall in love with this show after hating it for understanding only surface level info from my own watch
This was your best video by far, next to your Meruem video (which was touching as hell). What I really love about your videos is that you dont only touch the subject you mentioned in your title. You completely engulf in it, you search for the deepest meanings and find many other things in the show/game/character along the way, without swaying to much from the subject. This video struck me so hard when you started talking about the black-rose and how mass destrucion weapons can be mankinds doom and saviour at the same time. Great job, I really F*CKING enjoyed your video!!! I hope you're having fun making them. I wrote once a comment where I said that we'll enjoy your videos as long as you enjoy the things you talk about, Im sure thats the case here. Again thanks! Keep it up!
Thanks so much mate. I'm not saying that I work myself to death doing these videos, but it's extremely pleasing to see that the work and passion that goes into some of the analyses shines through. And while I do spend a lot of time doing them, above all it's tons of fun. It's all totally worth it and not a single topic I cover is one that I'm not invested in. Each one has a different style, with the character analyses tending to go a bit deeper than relatively more general reviews. Obviously not every video will be as emotional as the Meruem one or as symbolically-anchored as this one (in fact, some of the next videos will be broader, analytical reviews of anime that I haven't covered yet and really enjoyed), but rest assured that each topic is one that I really enjoy and want to get my opinion out about.
It's interesting, I recently pondered the nature of HxH's arc structure and storytelling techniques. The conclusion I came to takes roots in Togashi's "Yu Yu Hakusho". Originally, YYH was supposed to be episodic until Togashi's editor saw that no one liked that structure leading to the more linear story we got. My guess is that he decided to tackle the episodic idea in a very original way that took advantage of the unique existence of arcs in anime and manga. Personally, I found this very inspiring, it shows that no matter how long a genre or medium exists, you can always find new ways to write your stories.
When I finished watching the Chimera arc and seeing his own perspective to the ant king, I could see that Netero was a very power-hungry type of individual - I had wondered why was it Netero didn't want to try to be friendly to the Ant King, but he kept being playful but at the same time, condescending, showing his pride, self-confidence and ego taking higher priority in his thinking. He felt his way and decisions were for the best for him in the name of humanity, but above all, to test himself against stronger opponents, similar logic in character likely can reflect to Goku from DBZ where they'll do things that may not be in everyones' interest but it'll be based on pride or a selfish desire. Netero projected that the Ant King, even if he was wise, even if strong, even if merciful, should never be King and he perceived the scenario that the Ant King would face constant rebellion against humans that would never accept being ruled by something Non-Human, so he dared not give the Ant King even a chance to rule. That, and he understood the parallels of people that remind him of himself. The Ant King presented himself as a strong thinker and one who is rationalizing as a sentient creature - but he knew that one day the darker side of the Ant King would likely take over and become what causes the most problems. As Gon is the descent into losing his humanity, and the Ant King is the ascent to gaining humanity. Netero continued seeing that the 'Inner-animal' would be what comes out when the Ant King decides that he's tired of humans not accepting his rule, that his rational and 'Humanity' would be lost. Likewise, Netero himself understands what it means to rule and have a darker side and fights with the intent to kill, that he understands humanity is dualistic and full of unlimited potential that should not be subjected to being ruled by a being that likely would hamper that growth. With that in mind, as complex as Netero was, deep down he was a narcissistic old man who hated seeing anyone stronger than him who didn't sacrifice as much as he did to gain the power he had - as the Ant King theorized, to gain the powers that Netero had, he must've trained to the point of insanity to gain his power, what would you think of that kind of man, who then sees the Ant King who simply was 'born' with greatness? It greatly frustrates Netero, Netero just wants to no doubt put him in his place, but does so 'in the name of humanity' but also subtly, because it'd make him feel better. That's what I saw in Netero, he was a playful old man, and while it isn't fake, it was to hide that inner-bloodlust and thrill of fighting, winning, being the best. Time catches up to everyone and he'd be one who refuses to let old age stop him from feeling like he's on top.
This is a really, really flawed understanding of Netero and his character traits. You also contradict yourself multiple times, but the most egregious flaw is when you simplify him down to his narcissism.
I mean netero came in with an objective and even stated in the show that he cannot aim for peace with the king because he knows it’s not what he came to do. You just completely disregard the fact that they were fighting for humanity’s freedom
Not only that but his character represents the peak martial artist. He reached enlightenment by having a balance between good and evil and used both against the Ant King.
The most stupid take on Netero's objective ever. If I were you I would delete such crap comment. Pure dogshit, you missed the whole concept of the character.
A lot of people overlook the moment netero uses his en. It literally shows his resolve to the point that he built all of his power on gratitude and being at piece and that was the only time he showed any malice the whole series
omg yes! And when people are ranking their favorite anime and somehow HxH either doesn't make their list, or makes if below something like DBZ, the Tokyo Ghoul anime, SAO, etc.... like how the hell? lol
@@daveldasilva2645 People also too often use the logic "opinions can be criticized" as a way to completely ignore opinions entirely and act like their opinion is above others. The simple fact is, HxH is very well written yes, but that doesn't mean everyone has to like it equally. That's simply unrealistic and one cannot hope that to be the case. Give one shit for their opinions all day long, it doesn't put you on a higher pedestal than someone else. Why? Because, you are different people and like different things in different ways. Sooner or later it becomes you forcing your opinions down someone's throat which is far worse than someone putting a series that while not as well written, higher than HxH. There is nothing to criticize here. Someone likes something more than your favorite series, so what? What is there to criticize? The fact that they don't hold the same admiration for HxH as you do? That's not something to criticize. Not everything needs criticism. This isn't some opinions of the Hitler or some crazy crap like that. It's literally entertainment media and art. I like HxH. But it isn't my Number 1 favorite series despite being one of the best written I've read/watched. Why? Because, being well written =/= being always better. A series can have godly writing, but can just be boring to watch. It becomes a matter of what you look for and what you care about. I like DBS more than HxH. Why? Because I enjoyed Super more than HxH. So obviously DBS would be higher on my list than HxH. You may not like it, but that's your opinion, not mine. At the end of the day, it depends on subjectivity as HxH maybe objectively better written, but subjectively one can put it below other franchises due to their tastes, standards and enjoyment. This is the exact train of thought that kept me away from HxH for so long. I kept getting this "it's the best series in the world" stuff shoved down my throat and at every turn someone would always bring it up as this masterpiece (which writing wise it is). This lead to me finally watching the series recently and really not seeing it as the golden god of anime/manga I heard it was. It's a good series. But, for me it's by no means the best piece of entertainment I have seen. This isn't a series I would continuously go back to and watch (outside of reactions from UA-camrs) because while I liked it, it isn't the most entertaining thing for me to go through. That's just the fact of the matter for me here. HxH is a good series, but it's not MY #1 series because it didn't appeal to me as it did with others. Simple as that. The same goes for others.
The irony of what Netero did in the end with the Miniature Rose is what I find actually fascinating about him. He poured his heart and soul to completely master what his body, mind and soul can do and beyond, yet he would at the end resort on something he even didn't create. That moment when Meruem was ended not because of Netero's strength alone, but his resolve. In the end, Netero decided to show what he is capable of, but he resorted on representing on what humanity, the thing he represents, can do as a collective. I really liked how you analyze and explore ideas about characters and situations in a very balanced fashion. You're not too flamboyant with your words just to show you know more than anyone, nor you're not pointing obvious thoughts that spoonfeed ideas. You do deserve a Patreon, too bad I'm poor to even contribute. But thank you for inspiring me to find the kind of videos I really want to make in the near future. Keep it up.
Totally agree on that point about Meruem and the Rose, very intriguing stuff. And thanks for the compliment! No worries about the Patreon at all, I totally understand.
So many of Netero's actions and emotions both surprised and drew me in to Hunter x Hunter in its entirety. Hearing how strong your passion for Hunter x Hunter is, is wonderful as well.
The kimera ants have a very Buddhist theme of death and reincarnation. It only makes sense that the vengeful yet loving hand of netero's bodhisattva comes down from the sky to take them out if this life and into the next one.
Great video. But as for the fight, I personally think that Netero was using one arm and one leg in order to challenge himself, not to train the boys. We saw in the Chimera Ant arc that he was searching for a long time for a worthy opponent. He just wanted to be challenged in some way, so he put limits on himself.
That's pretty similar to what I said, isn't it? While there may have been a slight inclination to help them, he limited himself because he loved winning and loved the challenge. I think I said something to that effect.
Actually, you did. I missed when you said that you "initially" thought it was to help them. Oops! My mistake. But a question for you that I'd like to hear your opinion on. You said that he was enjoying his victories against Gon and utterly destroying him, basically. What was your basis for that? I feel like, if anything, his actions against Meruem directly contradict that. He was basically issuing out a free beatdown, but instead of just continuing he baited Meruem into fighting back because he wants a true victory. I don't think Netero's the kind of dude who would get pleasure by whomping on a child that can't even use nen, even if he was only using one leg and one arm.
Jitszu You put it a bit harshly there. I'm not saying that Netero gets pleasure by whomping on a weak child. I just think that Netero enjoys winning, regardless of context. That aspect of him feeds into his pride in humanity's endurance and his bully-like tendencies. But above all, he loves opponents who are powerful and represent his passion for the craft of martial arts. And he respects it. In the end, I think that trumps everything and explains why he acted that way to Meruem. It's all about the duality for me.
I see Netero as a representation of human nature in Hunter x Hunter. Its beauty and its malice. It’s love and it’s cruelty. It’s capacity for selfish and ruthless actions for it own survival. As well as it’s appreciation for love. Netero in a way is as Aleczandxr said is a microcosm of the story’s thematic development. While he does some questionable actions like letting a psychopath like Hisoka continue to participate in the Hunter Exam, having Killiua face his evil brother and having the exam be a darwinist landscape in only whose with potential can survive. He definitely is not a noble man by any means, but he died for his people and is beloved by many characters in series including someone as vile as Pariston. It’s just that the people he is fighting for are the apart of a species that build unjust hierarchy, commit genocide and create weapons of mass destruction like the Poor Man’s Rose. In the incredible fight with Meruem, his dedication and passion for the martial arts is why Meruem has so much respect, being as important to Meruem’s transformation into a being with empathy towards others as his love for Komungi. Netero’s shocked expression upon seeing the Ant King carrying the injured blind girl show passion for someone he was oppress was proof that Netero was not a monster just a who in heinous actions Humanity created. Hunter x Hunter to me is (to quote George R.R. Martin) a story about the human heart in conflict with itself. Both Netero and Meruem are excellent characters grapple with their evil and their empathy and both two the many characters who this series so brilliant.
Oh man that was lovely. I've always had the sneaking suspicion that Netero was my favourite character, but could never seem to find many convincing reasons why other than "Meruem Fight" repeated sixteen times. This solves that problem and much more! That said, though... _Meruem Fight_. Holy shit I remember watching that thing over so many times trying to pick apart all of the tangled philosophical implications and mixed emotions. The problem was, there was just _so much_ being said in so little time that it meshed into the feeling of the arc absolutely beautifully, but still left me not knowing what to think or feel. With all the context you offer in this video, it's a lot easier to digest. I think you really put a finger on the crux of the issue when you mentioned Netero becoming antlike and Meruem becoming human. You have Netero, a character who superficially represents the pinnacle of human physical and spiritual attainment (at least, that's how I perceived him during the battle), pitted against a foe who, in turn, superficially represents the antithesis of humanity. Throughout the action of the fight, Netero only seems more and more saintly, until the final moments when- _Surprise!_ -he does a heel-face-turn and channels the most appalling aspects of humanity to achieve victory. It was a truly magnificent way to inflate the viewer's sense of morality before knocking them flat on their backs, where they would then be primed to swallow the whole great bittersweet, ambiguous pill of the arc's conclusion. As you said, Netero works so bloody well as a model for the whole arc.
Haha, to be fair, "Meruem Fight" is all you need to say as justification for Netero being your favourite. It's cool that the video made some of the subtleties easier to digest though, because the fight is beautiful if you just let it play without trying to focus on the little details. Obviously, in retrospective reflection I think that a lot can be analyzed that contributes to the narrative, and that's what I tried to help with here. And I really have nothing to add to that description of the thematic resonance of the battle. The gradual shift into the opposing ideals was just so gorgeously done, I can't say enough good about it. The Chimera Ant arc is filled to the brim with so much meaning, but I personally believe that this human-to-ant, ant-to-human aspect is possibly the best thematic idea that Togashi gave us throughout.
The first thing that came to mind when you mentioned Meruem’s enlightenment was the resemblance between Netero and a shepherd-like bodhisattva (one who aspires to delay buddhahood until all other sentient beings achieve buddhahood.) We can picture Meruem as a sentient being who achieves buddhahood after the fight against Netero. And Netero can be seen as a shepherd-like bodhisattva, this is due to the fact that all his life Netero has been waiting for someone worthy enough to fight against (he delays his death until achieving this goal of his). And after fighting against that person Netero finally fulfills his role as a shepherd by helping Meruem achieving buddhahood and therefore rises into the heavens as a sentient being. Later on Meruem joins him after achieving full buddhahood thanks to Netero. I think I read somewhere that people who achieve buddhahood become sentient beings that don’t go through rebirth and also that they rise into the heavens as they achieve buddhahood. I may be wrong though, correct me if I am.
Solid work you got here. Also love the subs/community you got, almost no hate just appreciation. Noticed that you took the time to reply to these doods, keep it up and best of luck to your Patreon. Again, top tier content right here encouraging you to support this channel guys
Thanks, the community really is great to me so I do try to respond to the majority of comments. The Patreon is more of just an extra little thing but it would be helpful nonetheless. Anyways, much appreciated again. Thanks for the support!
Your analysis on various characters are very in-depth. It's great that you can spend nearly half an hour talking and yet I don't get bored or tired listening part-way through. Keep up the good work. You earned yourself a sub and a like.
I have listened to the whole OST from that probably about 30 times. Edit: I just checked iTunes to make sure I wasn't exaggerating, and its current play count is at 40.
Purely Presbyterian I'll definitely be doing something on it because I loved it so much. It'll be more along the lines of an analytical review than any character analysis, seeing as I'm no Rurouni Kenshin lore expert.
:3 Its just very satisfying to get what one asks for and have it exceed expectations. While regretfully I cannot participate in your patreon, you have a loyal subscriber!
I doubt many people would agree with me but I would really like to hear your overall opinion of Knov as a character. I know that I probably stand almost completely alone by saying that he is my favorite side character in HxH but I just loved the struggle he had and that despite getting completely broken by Poufs En due to being completely unshielded against Nen to avoid detection he was still able to face his trauma enough to come through to save the lives of Shoot and Morel who would most certainly have died otherwise. It always hurts me when I hear or read people talking about how "he got what he deserved" or something along those lines when he completely broke down because he was so harsh on Killua in their first meeting. We never saw him apologize to Gon and Killua directly but through his inner monologue we saw him greatly appreciate and admire their mental fortitude at which point I thought apologies to be completely unnecessary because it probably didn't even bother Killua that much so why should it bother us. He also acknowledged Gon before Morel and was one of the most worried about how Gon will respond to Kites fate at the hands of Pitou - proven by him monitoring the boys days before they confronted them about Kite to get a grasp of their mental health. The only thing that makes me even more angry than hearing people say that he got what he deserved is people making fun of him because of his mental breakdown. When I saw some people laughing when Knov made his entrance to save Morel. When he asked if Knuckle wanted to come with him because their mission was finished and Knuckle denied and he only said: "You're strong" to him with an empty and broken gaze I literally burst out: "No, you're strong!" to my screen. It's hard to keep on fighting despite all odds but coming back after getting psychologically crippled once only to save your comrades takes another form of strength that most people sadly don't know to appreciate... Even though I already wrote way more than I actually wanted to it was all to express my fondness of his character. I would just love it if you would make a character analysis about him. It probably wouldn't be as long as Neteros or Hisokas so maybe it will even be a little less work for you but I really want to hear your thoughts on the guy sometime in the future. :)
Well I'm glad to see that you're so passionate about Knov! Believe it or not I've already done an analysis of him (and Shoot together in one video). Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/z3PUtjt1eac/v-deo.html The audio isn't great because this is one of my earliest videos, but my opinion on him hasn't changed. He's extremely underrated as a character. Hope that video is some of what you're looking for.
LOL that is quite embarrassing for me... I just saw that I actually commented under that video about Knov and Shoot from you so that means I must have seen it already. I hope I'm not getting alzheimer or something. Well I suppose that means I can at least watch it again for the first time. Sorry about that but thanks for the extremely quick response and for reading my thoughts about him anyway. ^^
if I could I would support you on patreon :) but awesome vid make sure to keep rolling out great vids like this one and you've got yourself a pretty big channel.
This video was awesome just like other vids of yours! I love the way you passionately and intelligently analyse anime/manga in a way that allows other passionate and intelligent fans to see what deep understanding and emotional experiences might have been missed! Pure Genius!
Love your work! I would argue that Netero's nature is kind at its core but the world and all he has endured taught him that weakness has a price humans must pay. Also I would love a look at the relationship between Hisoka and Ilumi. They are, if I may uses a DND reference, an interesting look on the relationship between chaotic evil and lawful evil
Thanks! I don't necessarily disagree; I never really stated what I think his core is, I don't think. While he is all about the dichotomy, I do think his core would be more based in love and gratitude than the darkness, as established through the symbolism associated with him.
i find this character to be so facinating... his whole paradoxical representation of the imperfect perfection of humanity is really something so well executed that i find it hard to believe that someone was actually able to write such a complex character on purpose... but that just proves how much of a master togashi is... little things i just noticed watching your video... based on what we know of netero seeing how he only gave one chance to leorio on the hunter exam tournament because he might of deemed him weak compared to the others.. and then leorio almost becoming the next chairman after him... seems like to perfect to be coincidence... another is the 10000 daily punches is symbolism to the 10000 hr rule to basically mastering anything...
HxH is an anime that follows a 'classic' structure in its story. There's nothing particularly unique about it on the surface--the same tropes and cliches we typically see in shounen anime are all present in HxH. And yet, within a standard framework, HxH produces some very unique elements and characters, and an overall extraordinary story. IMO, that requires a lot of skill from a writer.
It's a tremendous skill, for sure. Seems like a well-developed and characterized but standard shounen and defies expectations through the finer details. It's a really special trait that Togashi has.
TBH, i'm sad its over because the show was so fun and intriguing. Now I gotta get into the manga. I was having a great time, a big problem I have with anime nowadays is I find myself falling asleep as I usually watch anime before I go to bed, but I can assure you there was never I moment where I nearly fell asleep while watching HxH, sure there were some heavy dialogue moments, but even then they never made me tired or bored. I was always so interested in what was happening I found it hard to stop myself from watching more episodes before going to bed. Also, while others think the Chimera Ant arc drags on for too long, which I can agree with albeit only slightly, I FUCKING LOVED IT. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN ARC IVE WATCHED THAT I WAS SO DAMN INTRIGUED AND INTERESTED IN. I loved how the guards were presented as if they'd just be one dimensional bad guys and then turning out to be extremely deep and well-realized characters. I loved how I thought Komugi would just be some useless person for the king to fall in love with to make us relate to the king and then how the show flipped that expectation on me. Hell, I feel without Komugi they may not have won. I love how the Chimera Ants like Meleoron and Welfin looked as if they'd just be pointless characters and then again FLIPPED IT ON MY HEAD, hell, when they started giving Welfin backstory I doubted I'd end up liking him but again, FLIPPED ON MY HEAD. This show does a great job with characters and I fucking love it! I got into HxH simply because I wanted to watch all the Top Rated Anime from MAL top-down just to see why these shows were so popular and I'm glad HxH was high up there because it deserves to be. The characters are astounding and the settings are amazing and thats what really defined the series for me, helps that the animation was stunning and the music was overall really good! Gon is so lovable but what really gets me about him, is that while hes presented as slow from time to time (That fucking math scene with Knuckle cracked me up) he actually thinks and learns through these battles. Killua making a friend and then becoming so strong he finally breaks free of his brother's hold over him by himself and having a friend he likes so much like Gon to inspire him was one of my favorite scenes from the show in itself other than Komugi and the King's final game. Kurapika being so determined and hellbent while also having an extremely sad backstory but still being an upbeat dude made me so happy. Leorio was also extremely helpful and while he may be the weakest, I can say without a doubt that he isnt worthless (Also thanks for knocking the fuck out of Gon's father). I don't want to destroy youtube's chat box so i'll end it there but I really had trouble finding a character I thought was a waste or just pointless, this show just did everything so well, its crazy! I had so much fun with this series that I just didnt want it to go, I wanted more silly and serious moments with Killua and Gon like with the Heavens Arena arc, I wanted more Kura, Leo, Gon, and Killua in a group just doing shit together because they were so playful and interesting.(hell, the only negative I can call out about HxH was how they dont get that much screen time after the chimera ant arc) I wanted more of the Phantom Troupe just being badasses, I wanted more Greed Island Shenanigans. I want MORE HxH, this is honestly the best show i've watched in a long time and I demand another adaptation with even more shenanigans!
Ryoma Hoshi Awesome to hear that you liked it! I loved all the characters and definitely would've liked to see the main four together more as well, but oh well. I was super sad when it ended too, but at least we have the manga. Which moves at a snail's pace.
Do you like One Piece? P.S. I think what you described of Netero is a common trait among Enhancers they do whats best for them and while not completely Amoral they have their own sense of Justice or morals that makes them strange to other people just like Gon, Youpi, Uvogin, Palm and other Enhancers basically what they view as right is right and what is wrong is wrong...
I don't really like One Piece. Dropped the anime a while ago. I may read the manga one day, but that's probably a long way off. And that's a very good point. I generally tend to overlook Hisoka's personality analysis based on Nen types when thinking about this series. Thanks for bringing it up!
ThePyrotroll I disagree I think that Hunter x Hunter is objectively the best anime ever made. epic soundtrack, awesome action, no filler, epic voice acting, consistent good animation
Major foreshadowing from the Gon vs Netero Ball scene where the chairman would only use one arm and one leg, which incidentally happened vs Meruem too
Yep, very cool.
WOAHHHH
mindblown
OH SHIT
vx Ponix, Jesus Christ this show continues to surprise me years later...😲
The Darkest shit he did was definitely not telling Knov and Morel he was dropping the Dragon Dive on the castle and nearly literally killing everyone
Ikr lol
Yup
Netero’s Mind:
*haha friendly fire is on. what if i use my ult on the entire party?*
Nah. He had nuke implanting in his body. Had Meruem not request to move out, the casualty would be massive. Netero gave no shite.
To deceive your enemies you must also deceive your allies.
When meruem observed how insane netereo truly was in order to achieve such a power is one of my favourite scenes in anime period. It was at that point he realised that he wasn't fighting a human but instead was fighting a monster.

Thanks for the complaint!
If only meruem lived for a year,he would have dominated humans.netero lived 120+ years old and barely beat a 6 months old or less Meruem
Wait why?
@@myoldchannel0meruem and netero are two sides of the same coin
@@brokenntv9030You didnt answer the question
@@myoldchannel0Because Netero isnt your actual good wise guy that you see in most animes. His intention was to eradicate Meruem by any means, not to resonate him or trying to understand him. That makes him the bad guy in this situation, even tho he ironically does it to "save humanity"
@@filazkeita2272 i did
The most telling moment is his final, legandary words. "Meruem, you know nothing, of humanities infinite potential for malice/evolution". So much depth in that *1* sentence! If I was going to suggest a video you might not already have planned, I'd be ecstatic for a video on that line or just the rose in general.
Vlady S
There is never "enough" hunter x Hunter analysis sir
Hahaha. Like Vlady says, I put a ton of emphasis on that to the point where I was worried that I overstated it. I'll keep it in mind though!
that was honestly the rawest line in the entire series. i'd never felt as much pride and disgust simultaneously at humanity, because like...what a human thing. for all the chimera ants talked about evolution and how quickly they did, that was something they could never match - our capability for destroying ourselves.
"Humanity will evolve to survive. They are Winners."
I dont know, i dont know.
I mean, have you seen the newest video of 'Some More News'?
The 1 about Humanity running out of Water thx to Stupidity?
I have a bias to Netero because he laughs and acts like my grandpa
To maintain your sanity, make sure to never play any ball-related games with your grandpa.
Lol it doesnt help that he prays at every moment too haha
As long as he doesn't summons a gigantic golden Buddha statue you are safe.
statue or not he's dangerous af.
as long as he is not too old it`s ok, because if his heart stops beating...
I wonder what he truely thought of ging. someone who is strong but seems to seek answers and adventure over strength.
If you compare Neteros face from the exam arc to when he fights Meruem, it becomes much more defined and darker
So needless to say I've gained some major respect for you, and I hope to see you achieve some big things :)
And above all else you've gained yourself a new fan, and my support if you ever need anything!
Aleczandxr you’re going to make it big, you already have a new subscriber👍🏿 Thank you for putting in that work👌🏿
2Spooky oh its 2Spooky
It was a fight collectivism vs individualism; internal validation of individual vs external validation of collective (ants); that's why Netero said you are dangerous. To gain external validation from everyone you need to enslave everyone; because there always people that don't validate you external
Both of ya'll make 🔥
I've gotta say, the way you start off videos with a broader topic and transition to the character at hand has really gotten very good. I thought Id mention it because its something that can be overlooked
Well thanks very much for that, I really appreciate it :)
Aleczandxr i think the most simple way to describe netero is that hes just a more battle hungry version of goku or any of those battle hungry shonen protag
you haven't seen dragonball super recently? goku is putting universes at risk just to get a good fight
Yeah and everyone is starting to hate Goku and call him evil straight to his face and he doesn't seem to care at all as long as he gets to fight.
SinPunisher zeno was gonna destroy those universes anyways goku gave them a chance
25 minutes on one of my favourite anime characters ever. Love you.
Awww shucks.

Rest in Peace my dear grandfather Netero
I just noticed from the description that you finally have a Patreon. About fucking time. As soon as my finances improve a little I'm supporting the hell out of you, you deserve it my man.
Thanks so much, it means everything. But don't pledge if your finances aren't healthy! I get on fine and you already do more than enough by supporting and commenting all the time. :)

Aleczandxr np your the best, lol I just saw leorio.do his legendary punch on ging, it's to funny!!! also are they going to continue episodes?
"For the colony, if you will."
Mind blown
You deserve a comment after all this time
For me Netero's use of the bomb.wasn't an act of altruism.
Brilliant.
Very cool, thanks for that.
What's this samurai name?
There is a book called "Metu Neter" which means "Word of God" in the Kemetic (ancient Egypt) language. Once I knew about Neteru I made the connection to that book. Also, the names of the Royal Guards comes from Egyptian deities.
Yea the moment I heard Neferpitou, instantly reminded me of Nefertiti. Which is why I looked up their names after.
Isaac Netero, to Meruem[1]
When? When did I start waiting for my opponent to make the first move? When, indeed? It became a routine. The loser held out his hands in gratitude for the lesson and I graciously accepted without skipping a beat. As if that was what I wanted!! That's not how it should be!! For so long, I sought the height of perfection. I dreamed of giving my heart and soul to battle an unstoppable adversary!! I'm a lucky man. I'm thankful for everything that led me to this point...that led me to you!!
That quote encapsulates the man.

Badass
One thing I noticed: after using Zero Hand, Netero lowers his right hand toward the earth-- a gesture representing Buddha's awakening with the earth as his witness.
Netero can't die of age so understandably he gets board of life
His life is a tragedy as he trained for ultimate power but never could use it. He trained to protect friends and family but will out live them all and sea them die.
To him death is a joke he lives to test his power against strong people and that's why he suicid bombs meruem he does it because his one dream has been forfilled and his life is complete
Michael Goldsmith He could age to a point were his life would have ended, it's just that his ten allowed him to live longer
Jo Jo honestly, I'm not sure he would have died if he had met more half decent opponents during his life, as that would have led him to better maintain his nen. The only reason he got so physically old is because he rarely used his full power. As with muscles and intelligence: use it or lose it.
Sometimes I get board of life too
Netero's goal isfinding an opponet of his strength but also, evolve humanity, force the species and the hunter association to situations where they have to evolve or survive

I figured you'd been waiting for this, hahaha.
Loved the vid as always man, also double thumbs up for Witcher ost in the background:)
+Aleczandxr hey thanks as always but there is one thing.
when i read the manga netero said "king of ants ,meruem! YOU STILL HAVEN'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING !
dont understimate the limitless potential of human malice!" before exploding.
in the anime subs of different groups he says "dont underestimate the limitless potential of human evolution!"
i read somewhere that in japanese it means the same !
when i was watching that scene i expecte him to say the "malice" line as it was more fitting ,
what are your thoughts on this matter?
c@mbaz It's one of those HxH debates that I don't really tend to take a side on because either fits imo. Evolution fits the theme of the Chimera Ant arc better while Malice is more telling of Meruem's perspectives. Either way it's a great line for me.
+Aleczandxr thanks for the fast reply .
i think malice was way more fitting ,i didnt know about the debate throug.
And your description of Netero is spot on, truly a one-of-a-kind character. Beautiful in a lot of ways, just like you said.
Zeno: should we check if any friendlies are down there?
Netero: just summon the fucking dragon
Neteros character mirrors the character of the series huh? So the series is dead? xD Just joking I hope it´s not.

I think gon takes netero spot and killua takes zenos
Will continue June 26th... they say
Leon M not only is it dead, but it killed itself to prove a point. (I think the author is acting sick to say fuck you to the manga overlords that press mangaka to write themselves to death)
wait and see?
WTF. The manga can very well go for more than 10 VOLUMES.
Dude you put me in tears explaining this series.

That means so much, I'm so glad my passion shines through.
I promise I won't mention Chrollo anymore, especially when you're providing such interesting and well presented content. As you've said before, just let his analysis come naturally to you. Don't worry about a schedule.
Thanks for understanding. I really want to do that one properly.
Got to love chrollo, want to see fetian thou
Netero's whole existence was poetry. May he rest in power and love.
These videos are always so insightful. Very true Netero died like and ant would and Meruem died like a human.
Thank you. And yeah, that dovetail in the character arcs given initial expectations was so beautiful to me.

Thank you very much Marc, I should thank you for watching. I'm happy that I can captivate you with these videos and maybe help you learn something new or different from before.
I can relate to trying to recommend this series to others and not really knowing what to say.. It's a fucking great show, just watch it
There's a friend I'm trying to convince to watch the show, and I think that instead of trying to explain it and making an ass out of myself and the anime, I'm just gonna link him to Super Eyepatch Wolf's 40 minute video explaining the exact same thing. He does a much better job than I could.
The only problem is that the "Why You Should Watch" video is, itself, the length of two episodes of the actual series, so all we need now is a "Why You Should Watch Why You Should Watch Hunter x Hunter" video to link first.
Funnily enough, SEW's video is actually one of the things that inspired me to watch HxH in the first place.
Aleczandxr I would never have even batted an eye at the series without seeing his video first. You could say it got me into anime in the first place.
I kinda want to know what would happen if netero decided to reason with meruem
Spectacular.. just spectacular.
Thank you so much for your insights and the illumination they bring to these characters and their concepts.
Considering that the video is 25 minutes, and so much is covered, it'll have to do with saying: yes, I think you did the topic justice.
TheAwesomoe Agreed
Phew. Thanks so much. Netero is a really important character to me so I was a bit nervous.
You know my favorite scene from HxH is when Netero points over to where Pitou is to Gon, that smug smirk lmao
That's incredibly kind of you to say. Thanks so much for the support :)
so happy to see your channel back
I love how that when i searched up an analysis i still see this as the top result. I saulte you, my friend.
Your analysis videos of Hunter x hunter always bring a smile to my heart
This comment brought a smile to my heart.
You're my favorite analyzer on youtube!
That's an honour, thank you!
Some call the hunter exam cruel...
*I call it natural selection.*
Totally trippy that I ended up watching this exactly one year after it was released! Congrats on how much your Patreon has grown in the past year. :D
Thank you! It's been a hell of a year since this!
Man seriously, you do probably the best, most thoughtful and reflective vids regarding anime on youtube! Thank you
Thanks so much for the kind words, and for supporting the channel :)
I hope the channel grows and same for the patreon!
Thanks very much!
So, Netero = Badass?
Wiped Ceiling Like near every character in hxh
That's the TL;DR of it, yeah.
Wiped Ceiling he's cool, but killua is the best.
spartan kitty games Couldn't beat Netero in a fight, but I do agree with you.
A lot of people overlook the moment netero uses his en. It literally shows his resolve to the point that he built all of his power on gratitude and being at piece and that was the only time he showed any malice the whole series
I enjoyed the video. Good work on the video.
I hate it when they compare HxH to other shounen with shallow story and characters.
omg yes! And when people are ranking their favorite anime and somehow HxH either doesn't make their list, or makes if below something like DBZ, the Tokyo Ghoul anime, SAO, etc.... like how the hell? lol
HxH is a very unique shounen series. It's not overwhelming. No words can express my awe to Togashi.
I would say that since the chimera ant arc HxH is more like a seinen now than shounen.
Imp Perfect
It's almost like people have different tastes. Crazy huh?
Who went outside and killed an ant without dying just to flex on Netero
So many of Netero's actions and emotions both surprised and drew me in to Hunter x Hunter in its entirety. Hearing how strong your passion for Hunter x Hunter is, is wonderful as well.
It's hard to not be passionate about HxH, tbh.
The kimera ants have a very Buddhist theme of death and reincarnation. It only makes sense that the vengeful yet loving hand of netero's bodhisattva comes down from the sky to take them out if this life and into the next one.
The video essay is a growing trend. I am watching as many of these as I can before I start trying to make my own.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks!
I don't
think Netero's the kind of dude who would get pleasure by whomping on a child that can't even use nen, even if he was only using one leg and one arm.
The Chimera Ant arc is filled to the brim with so much meaning, but I personally believe that this human-to-ant, ant-to-human aspect is possibly the best thematic idea that Togashi gave us throughout.
beautiful video as always! liked right away
Thank you!
Love that you picked the Rurouni Kenshin soundtrack it's breathtaking
There is some thing really fun about doing a heart hand sign thing while having a nuke attached to your heart
The first thing that came to mind when you mentioned Meruem’s enlightenment was the resemblance between Netero and a shepherd-like bodhisattva (one who aspires to delay buddhahood until all other sentient beings achieve buddhahood.)
We can picture Meruem as a sentient being who achieves buddhahood after the fight against Netero.

That's very nice to hear, thanks for the compliment. And I'm happy you enjoy the channel :)
I love listening to these videos always so nostalgic
To be honest, considering how fast characters train and improve, going to exam without skill is a suicide
That Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal OST tho 😍🔥
I recently saw that and was blown away. Had to include something from it.
I have listened to the whole OST from that probably about 30 times. Edit: I just checked iTunes to make sure I wasn't exaggerating, and its current play count is at 40.
Would love to see some videos on Trust & Betrayal.
Purely Presbyterian I'll definitely be doing something on it because I loved it so much. It'll be more along the lines of an analytical review than any character analysis, seeing as I'm no Rurouni Kenshin lore expert.
thank god your videos are back up, I was worried I wouldnt ever be able to watch them again.
Thank you! I've waited for this forever! You still do fantastic stuff-
Thanks for checking it out!
I'm glad you got around to making it, it feels awesome to finally see something like this. ^^
Excellent job.
Wow, great that you enjoyed it so much. Thanks very much again :)
:3
Its just very satisfying to get what one asks for and have it exceed expectations. While regretfully I cannot participate in your patreon, you have a loyal subscriber!
Collin Thompson no worries at all, the Patreon is just extra and not needed. Just the fact that you comment and watch the videos is more than enough.
spectacular video as usual ! For the next one how about a breakdown of Gons journey from a light hearted to a more dark and mature theme.
Thank you! And I'm saving a Gon video for later, maybe in a few months.
Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/z3PUtjt1eac/v-deo.html
The audio isn't great because this is one of my earliest videos, but my opinion on him hasn't changed.
No worries my friend, the sentiment is appreciated. Just your support is more than enough. :)
This video was awesome just like other vids of yours! I love the way you passionately and intelligently analyse anime/manga in a way that allows other passionate and intelligent fans to see what deep understanding and emotional experiences might have been missed! Pure Genius!
Thanks so very much my friend :) The support is appreciated!
You just made me want to read the manga! Thank you and your amazing effort in this video!
Thank YOU for checking it out! As for the manga, do it! It's quality is easily up to par with the anime.
Netero is one of my favorite Characters in all anime.
Damn this is basically a 10/10 essay on Hunter x Hunter bwhahaha
i find this character to be so facinating... his whole paradoxical representation of the imperfect perfection of humanity is really something so well executed that i find it hard to believe that someone was actually able to write such a complex character on purpose... but that just proves how much of a master togashi is... little things i just noticed watching your video... based on what we know of netero seeing how he only gave one chance to leorio on the hunter exam tournament because he might of deemed him weak compared to the others.. and then leorio almost becoming the next chairman after him... seems like to perfect to be coincidence... another is the 10000 daily punches is symbolism to the 10000 hr rule to basically mastering anything...
This was extremely good! I always feel intellectual when watching your videos

Purely Presbyterian Watch/read Rurouni Kenshin but skip the filler if you watch the anime.
It's a tremendous skill, for sure. Seems like a well-developed and characterized but standard shounen and defies expectations through the finer details. It's a really special trait that Togashi has.
Aleczandxr *ToGODshi
*Togashi-atus, author of Hiatus x Hiatus 😭
"Trust me it's awesome" everyone used that lmao
Just in time! I just finished the series yesterday! :D
Cool. What'd you think of the series as a whole?
Oh well, having a manga that moves at a snails pace is still better than nothing.
Jeez, how will they even end a manga like Hunter x Hunter?
Ryoma Hoshi you truly enjoyed it didn't ya . That was a hell of a read .
man I really respect you for making these awesome videos
Glad you like them!
Really great video, brother. I think you did Netero more than justice. Thanks for the content
Thanks very much for watching. Very glad you liked it.
10/10 i literly have nothing to say

@@johnvonshepard9373 Hahahaah bro you are hilarious.Good joke.Im on the floor actually.
I want him to make a video on the Roger's era!
Aleczandxr The anime is ass. The manga is awesome however.
ThePyrotroll Interesting, I'll keep that in mind!
ThePyrotroll I disagree I think that Hunter x Hunter is objectively the best anime ever made. epic soundtrack, awesome action, no filler, epic voice acting, consistent good animation
You supply a wonderful perspective on the Hunter X Hunter series. I look forward to viewing more. Thank you. I'll gladly donate to your fund
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Thank you for making these wonderful analyses and for reminding us everytime how amazing this anime is!
No worries at all, the series deserves it! Thanks for watching!
