    I have those same exact tfs heads. What size aluminum rod is needed to insert in thermistor channel of exhaust ports, an where can I buy them, also I have wiseco flat tops, they need flycuts for intake because my came is .696 solid roller cam, how deep do you think I need to have new fly cut for clearance, or do I need to mock up motor for that determination, or is there a standard amount to be safe. I am considering these on 408 stroker. Drag race only, will these work well or do you feel they are better for a 306ci motor, any advice will be help full. 306 I run high RPM's the 408 will be under 7000, what do you think.thank you for any advice

    I have learned afr angle plugs more header friendly than brodix angle plugs. When i switch from afr comp 195 to dragon slayer 225 i also ended up switching headers

    First, I watch all your videos to the end. I’m wondering what Brodix would charge to duplicate your hand porting on their CNC once it was digitized. Maybe do a quicker program (big step, medium step?) and leave the valve job to you. I don’t know how much time it takes you to port out that 15 or 16 ccs of material per intake port, but there must be a more efficient way! Maybe core shift makes this a non-starter, but I’m just wondering. And we’d sure like to see dyno results some day! Thanks Eric!

      I have his IK 195 heads. 227/233 @50 cam. 486 HP at 6000 and 474 TQ at 4700. Dyno operator stopped at 6000. I doubt with the cam it would have gotten much more but I think the heads are definitely capable of quite a bit more.

    Huh. My set came 1204, and I opened it to 1205 to suit an existing manifold.
    I had to laugh about short attention span theater - its so true: people watch a bit, get the gist, then....squirrel! I noticed years ago how tv news behaves: a typical segment might be 30 seconds tops, while 2+ minutes was a huge segment of airtime. That conditioning has raised a generation of impairment perhaps Anyway... do your thing - it works.

    If you raise the runners, epoxy the floor but keep the port volume the same does that improve flow? I’ve seen pics of that being done on heads in super stock classes and it seems like there is room on those Brodix heads to do it. I’m sure it’s not as cost effective. Might as well go to a 18° head or better but I’m just trying to understand all the angles before I make a decision.

      @@Rob94hawk the issue you run into is that you spend dozens of hours trying to make something maybe as good as something that is available on the shelf. You can buy 18° heads and intake and with less money and time have something thats probably going to work better than a filled and raised 23° head. If you want to grow from there porting the 18° head is always and option after that.

    I ended up getting the IK 210 cnc'd version due to the straight plugs working with my swap headers. I figure they will work, not super concerned for max power, headers are too small for big power.

    Probably? But at what cost? I’m sure it cost more than a out the box 195 afr heads. Also how long would it take to get a set of ported brodix 180 vs just ordering a out the box afr 195?

    • @WeingartnerRacing
      @WeingartnerRacing  2 роки тому +1

      I mentioned the cost of the heads in the video. My ported ik is cheaper than the afr195 comp version and the same price as the street port version. It takes an extra 3months for me to do a set vs just ordering afr195.

    • @flinch622
      @flinch622 2 роки тому

      Maybe application is more important than cost [within reason]. There is nothing to really complain about with afr, but if you want to reach for more room to be application specific Brodix seems to leave space for the users know-how & creativity - I like that. I dont build nitrous motors but I am mindful of their peculiarity: because fuel chemistry is altered [to get more oxygen into the burn than however many grams of air came in with a charge] you effectively have two motors. There's compression size and then there is combustion size. For that reason, reaching for exhaust mods ekes out intake by just a hair but a builder will look at both, to make sure you don't ever find yourself coming up off bdc with too much residual pressue remaining on an exhaust stroke that kills power [or worse].

    Why not use the IK200 brodix head instead the iron killer 180 head? I use the IK200 heads on all scb builds except for the racing builds that are 400+ ci projects that do best with AFR 220 heads that flow 300+cfm.
