I bought a beautiful daily planner a week ago. It's gorgeous. Minimally faffy, colours I love, pocket, ruler, pen holder. Three days. That's how long it took me to realise that I need a weekly planner. I bought a really plain one, and I love it. It keeps me on track with my PhD, I'm not writing things in it every day unless I need to, and it actually takes stress out of my life, rather than bloody adding it in. 😊
If i'm on an island, I wouldn't need a planner. 😂 I'm still figuring out what I need vs don't need. Post it notes to put down a temporary schedule until I sort things out for the week. I have my mild liners and paper mate ink joy pens, for sure. I know Cindy doesn't like the frixion eraseable pens, but I make a lot of mistakes so I need that back up. Right now I have 2 happy planners, 1 classic for life/work stuff. The other is a big that i use for my budgeting. I just get the monthly inserts and use paper from my hp pad. (Budget mom budgeting). The discs do annoy me, though the metal ones are better, the paper doesnt catch. I like that I can add pages and make different sections with the disc type. Thank you Cindy for sharing!
Hey Cindy, your video about the planner supplies you can't live without was so relatable! It's interesting how our essential tools can evolve over time. I totally agree with the Google Calendar - it's a lifesaver for keeping track of everything. And your dot markers are the real MVPs, bringing a pop of color to your planner pages. Thanks for sharing your top picks! 📅🖊🌈
The family Google calendar is essential. Don't even have kids, just a hubby and sister, but it still keeps us on track. I've honestly ditched so much of the planner stuff this year. I'm down to a notebook, fountain pen of the moment (and ink), and a random highlighter. I'm using icon stickers cause I have them but I honestly don't think I'll buy more outside of the trash can and shot reminders. It's just to much to keep up with, lol
My 5 planner must haves: moleskin journal (that I use as a to-do list & check in through out the day), papermate Inkjoy 0.7 gel pens, my EC horizontal planner (one size smaller than the 7X9), highlighters, mechanical pencil (for stuff I wanna do that day, but if I don’t get around to it, I don’t wanna feel guilty or have to cross it out)
My planner must-haves are a uni-ball signo white pen, correction tape (any brand), glue tape runner, Optimus fine pens, metal washi cutter and precision cut scissors. I enjoy following you!
Google Calendar is an essential! Having family and home helps me to remember birthdays as well but we also use it for shows and concerts that get announced, especially the smaller metal shows cuz I'll forget about them and then get bummed when I miss out! It's also fun to look back and remember who we've seen before. Thank you for sharing!
5:33 I’ve been using the Zig Clean Color dot markers for 4+ years. They are a permanent part of my planner supplies. I use other brands too but zig are my favorite. They are my best man!
Ok, so : google calendar, a clairefontaine school notebook with some kind of grid (I live in France, so I grew up with them, you find them cheap at the supermarket here), mechanical pencil with eraser, ruler, and any good black gel pen with medium nib. And a room for myself with a desk.
If I was thrown onto a desert island, I could get by with what is in my planny pack that lives with my bullet journal. Three different colored mildliners that I rotate out on a quarterly basis, the gray mildliner, an assortment of black and colored pens, and my small metal ruler. The planny pack holds gel pens, but I do have a cheapo Papermate ballpoint pen that I keep with my bujo and use for almost everything that's not in my weekly layout.
I've been thinking about this --what I need -- this week in preparation for planner season, and I think I'm going back to my HB90 printable in my Circa planner, my fountain pens and inks of the month, and Washi tape for decoration because I like it to look pretty. I like my current MakseLife planner, but using it with my Circa is too much.
I need my planner (W222 this year. Preordered a Sterling Ink for next year). Said planner needs to have enough notes pages to hold dailies and collections. I do everything in my planner - goals, personal, work tasks (but not planning. I have a separate teacher planner for actual class plans) and journaling. I also need my pen (my fave is my Pilot decimo fountain pen). I then need either mild liners or dot markers. Finally I also need google cal because I have four kids and a husband to coordinate with. I have used stickers and like them but they are bonus.
Google calendar is definitely on my list too! Also my simplified weekly, a notepad/notebook for to do lists, black sharpie sgel pens, and I can’t decide on a fifth…post-it’s? Mildliners?
One thing I can't live without is my Tombow N95, the lightest cool gray one. It's the perfect highlight shade for me, it highlights enough so it stands out but isn't in your face bright. I could live without all the other Tombows except that one 😂
Just curious why you chose to use Google calendar instead of Apple calendar? They do the same things (sharing, color coding, etc.) and I know you're an iPhone/Mac user. I'm honestly curious because I work with clients to help them organize their digital life and Google's privacy policies worry me. But I want to understand better why some people chose Google when they use an iPhone.
I can tell you why I do. I have Apple everything for my personal use and a Microsoft laptop for work. But my kids, who are both school-aged use Chromebook’s for all their school work and assignments including the calendar so when they share appointments- it’s via Google so it makes it easier for them. 17:18 17:18
A notebook (preferably dot) as my bujo/planner, felt tip pen (02-05), mild liners, Google/Outlook calendar. I need a ruler too, though I guess I could find any straight edge. This deployment, that's most of what I've used. I brought some stickers and washi tape, but I haven't used it much. But I still definitely need my notebook if I want to be functional at all. I use Google calendar for personal stuff and my work Outlook/TEAMs calendar for work shit. I can't have teams on my phone any more, so if I really had to, I could transfer most work meeting times to my Google calendar. But I need TEAMs to work in general...
I'm an Apple girl, but the calendar is essentially the same as Google nowadays. I have the same Makselife, and while I'm not as consistent with it as I'd like, I'm getting much more use out of it than I have similar things in years past. I love the same dot markers but even more than that would be my set of super fine Pilot Juice Up pens in .4 - I have some Uni-ball .38s and Pilot .3s incoming so we'll see if they get usurped. I just can't with a bold pen anymore, I'm not sure why. A journal for brain-dumping all the things that aren't tied to goals or days but keep bouncing around my head. I love a good Archer & Olive journal, but pretty much any kind of notebook will do. The Sarah Cray floral A5 A&O is what I'm using right now and it's gorgeous. And five...music. A good playlist, influenced by all the important people and events of my life, good and long so I don't get repeats often. Headphones or a speaker depending on whether I care that I'm bothering other people in my house. The only time the music is off is if I'm on a live call or watching a video. (Arwen)
Random request. Can you do a tutorial on using gesso? I must be missing something, because I can't get it to give definition when using it with a stencil.
I don't know a good place to ask this, but my girlfriend is a juvenile court judge, and age has toys and books for younger children but she mentioned wanting planners for tweens and teens, and I wonder if anyone knows of planner company who do in-kind donations.
Charlotte....no, but hobby lobby, michaels, walmart all have clearance planners several times a year. The planners are $3 to $4 at times. That with some washi and stickers from dollar tree will go a long way. Don't forget regular school supplies, like colored pencils, with a 50 cent composition notebook is the go-to for a lot of youtubers.

*raises hand* I would love mellow colors for my Google Calendar!
Yes, me too ! How come mine are so flashy ?!
Seconded! It looks so calm compared to my calendar.
Me too, please! I figured out how to add color by trial and error but HEX codes would be the shit!
I should add, my current Google colors are NOT relaxing but more "Get this shit done so I don't have to look at the monstrosity of color anymore".

I cannot live without my google calendar! I use it for everything… it’s like a pre-plan before I get to my planner.
Random request. Can you do a tutorial on using gesso? I must be missing something, because I can't get it to give definition when using it with a stencil.
You want to use a heavy body gesso or modeling paste!
There’s been so many planners I’ve turned down because of the coil situation. That thing is getting chunky!
Thinking about your stickers, why don’t you make a video making a few sticker kits with all your rainbow stickers to use them.
I get serious sticker envy when I see her collection, but I have decided to use up my hp stickers before adopting a new system.

@@thurst3224 Thank you! This is so helpful!
I can get by with my Weeks and a pen. If I get five I'm bringing along a pencil, a highlighter, and maybe a second pen?
My brain doesn't like digital.
