My tip for your pilot is to keep your empty cartridges (at least one) because the converter (a con 40) has less ink capacity than a cartridge. You can use a blunt tip syringe to refill the cartridge and get more longevity of your fill :)
Came here to say the same thing. Honestly, Pilot converters are finicky but the cartridges are easy to refill with a blunt tip syringe. Most of my Pilots have refilled cartridges in them. The only time I usually futz with a converter is if I’m using a glitter ink.
Most of the time my planner lives on my desk but it’s the accessories I struggle with just as you do 😂 I have learned to shop my pouch stash and I have really been positively influenced and inspired by your videos to not spend, use what I need and eliminate the extra. I feel so much better, so much more peaceful about things I have now ❤ Thanks for showing us a better way ❤ I hope you get over the nasty cold soon ❤
Kind of random, but the first time I flew solo internationally was on Emirates with a connection in Dubai. Emirates had a tiny merch stand in the terminal, so I figured I'd see if there was a neat commemorative souvenir. The only thing I actually liked was a cute kids' pencil pouch (lol), but I figured, eh what the hell...it might also be useful (this was before I started bullet journaling). A couple years later, I was journaling and paring down my supplies as much as possible, and this pouch ended up being the perfect size for what I needed. It still has some space so rooting around for a specific item is easy enough, and I can toss in a few extra supplies when I want. I'm really fond of it now, because not only has it been really useful to me, it also reminds me of a time I was super nervous about doing something on my own and got through it.
The only planner I take with me is the one I use for all of my medical appointments. The others stay at home (yes I like to use different planners for different things!)
Make yourself a washi card! My favorite sizes are now the old store keychain cards, since they’re so small and I can keep my favorite washi on hand, but everything lays flat. Great video!
If you want a cheaper version of the Vanishing Point you should look for the Majohn A1 (metal) or A2 (plastic). They are about $30-35 and there is also a clipless version if that's something you might want. The A2 is a perfect dupe and takes standard cartridges and converters.
So happy to see you getting into fountian pens! They are so much fun to play with. I love experimenting with different nibs. It's easy to collect different inks too. I only buy sample sizes because they are cheaper. I also don't want to buy a large bottle and not use it all. Things are expensive and I hate waste. My favorite resource for fountain pen info is Goulet Pens. Their UA-cam videos are very helpful! About the cultivate pouch, use some paint pens to decorate it! Make it your own and maybe you'll feel better about using it. To answer your question. I'm not really using my planner right now. I just had a baby and he's taking up all my time. I'm trying to embrace the chaos. Hopefully I can get back to planning sometime soon. I do write in his baby journal. Its a 5 year diary. I think it will make a nice keepsake for him when he's older.
Hope that congestion clears up soon and you feel better! I bought a black metal mesh desk organizer from WallyWorld. It's small, about 4 x 8". My markers ( Mildliners, Tombows and Pigma Microns) go in either end in the pen areas, a back slot holds my little scissors, three teensy slots in the front hold my few rolls of washies, and a small drawer below holds my white corrector tape and adhesive. I have some tweezers and a 6" ruler sitting in it too. I bought a wooden tray off Etsy to hold my Pilot G-2 gel pen along with my daily driver TWSBI eco. I don't take my planner out with me usually, but I keep a black Faber-Castell pen in the pen loop if needed. I don't have tons of supplies, so this organizer worked well and forced me to keep things minimal as I'm just starting out and the temptation to buy shit is ever present.
I have a tiny planner 3”x4” that is plastic coil bound that I have attached to a key chain clasp to hang from my purse that is almost as big. Also have a letter size planner for my business stuff with orders and expenses pages so I can keep track all year that usually stays on my desk or when I do a vendor booth set up I take with me.
I have a big chonky pouch from EC that you unzip and it has four small pouches that Velcro in. I like it because not only do I have those pouches stuffed full, but I also have 6 rolls of washi and four long post it note things. It has a handle to make carrying easier, but man is it chonky. I wonder if one of those planny packs would fit everything? It is a little smaller than the Cultivate and still has the strap to wrap around your planner.
I use Clinique makeup bags (I have a lot of those) to carry various planner goodies. I would be afraid that my ink cartridges might bust and make an ink mess in my bag. I would put those in a mini slim pouch also from Clinique
I have a mini happy planner and clip on pouch. It’s worked for years. I’m more of a color coding functional planner so pens are all I need. I am enjoying stickers some but don’t do that on the fly so the stickers are in a drawer.
I don't go anywhere (unless you count desk to couch/bed, which are all of 18" away from each other), BUT, I do have a journal separate from any planners or other books and I keep a specific pen in its pen loop within reach of when I'm in bed so that in theory I can journal before getting up. That does require waking up before I am pressed into service and must get up, which is happening less and less lately. Le sigh. Feel better soon!
My planner stays on my desk. My house is small, 1550 sq ft, so it works pretty well. I rarely take my planner anywhere, in fact I rarely go anywhere lol. If I were to take it somewhere I would prefer a tote with a handle that my supplies and planner would fit in. My planner is an 8.5”x11” Passion Planner - talk about chonky!!! I like negative space on the page tho so it suits me. I love your planner this year. You’re so creative in how to make it work for you. 😊😊
I still have a cultivate what matters pouch but it's completely full and super chonky. I have a little banded pen holder that looks like a black cat and is just big enough for my Metro, a Clena, a mechanical pencil and a skinny little Tombow eraser. That and my Weeks and a few other essentials just fit in my purse.
I never leave my house so everything is on my desk :) … oooh not completely true. When I go to a medical appt, i have a separate Med Journal I take with me to track and make notes, store any handouts, etc. but all i need is the journal and a pen. I’ve REALLY gone minimal this year. We’ll see how that works out for me as time goes!
My planner lives on my desk but I am often overwhelmed by the amount of choices. It might be nice to have a must have bag for those days that the rest hurts my brain haha.
I did not realize that ink came in cartridges! And the increase in price of the VanishingPoint pens is killing me. I may yet get the StormTrooper one, white with black accents. I just can never decide.
Ngl, if memory serves I was in your comment section defending planny packs not that long ago so I am laughing right now. I know you're in a no buy, but maybe your local buy/sell/trade people could help you out? Since you're not wild about where that pouch came from. Michael's has some nice, inexpensive versions of that, which also have a small zipper in the front in addition to the big zipper. Sorry, I just love planny packs, so I've tried a few different brands. Hope the cooties leave your household soon for good!
I am loving your doodles on the camel cover! I'm using the camel cover but I'm not a talented doodler unless you count basic stick figures and even those are questionable 😂
I think you should Cindyfy the CWM bag with Sharpie or something. Like symbolically drawing a 🍆 on their face. 😂 These days I am carrying my supplies in a purple Disney Princess pencil box with pen loops in it I found for ten bucks at Walmart. I passed my Animal Crossing pencil box my cat clawed up to my daughter who was very happy to have it (cat calling card included).
Carrying my planners and gear between my bedroom & living room is a nightmare!! 😂 I'd love to buy your double zip Pink pouch if you want to get rid of it!
I hope the crud leaves you soon. Everyone I know has some variation of it. It lasts, and lasts, goes away and returns.. it’s a bitch. I will follow your advice on the pouch declutter. Thanks for guidance.

I absolutely agree with this comment, it works really well for me as well.
Third-ing this comment. I kinda hate the Con-40

I need to do that, I am forever futzing with that stupid converter and it's making me a lot less likely to use my Metro.
Haha, I was just coming to comment this myself :-)

I use a felt purse organizer pouch for my supplies!! It works well, lots of pockets and doesn't fall over!!
Hope that congestion clears up soon and you feel better!

where is the pink bag from?
Feel Better Cindy! I had it over a month.
Do you have any of the EC or Simplified pouches?
If you do decide to use the converter, look up how to fill using a syringe. I love my VP pen but it is a pain to fill! Syringe is much easier!

I keep my planner on my desk but I have everyday tasks at my phone is todo app.
I miss you Cindy. I hope that you are doing ok. Sending you and your family thoughts of strength and well wishes.
I love your version of a Hannah Louise Poston declutter ;) hope you're feeling better too!
Finding the perfect pencil pouch is always my biggest issue when I want to take planning supplies on the go. Why is the washi always the problem?! 😂
My planner lives on my desk but I am often overwhelmed by the amount of choices. It might be nice to have a must have bag for those days that the rest hurts my brain haha.

Glad you chose Jodi's pouch.....if you had used the CWM one, you would have to say your disclaimer about the company every time it is seen, so......
oops, I spoke too soon.
Just buy a syringe and refill your cartridges. Don't even bother with the converter. It's a p. I. T. A. Imo.
I think you should Cindyfy the CWM bag with Sharpie or something. Sitting here with the same blotting paper and the same Vanishing Point :) And also a Sterling Ink, but not the same one.
Carrying my planners and gear between my bedroom & living room is a nightmare!! 😂
I'd love to buy your double zip Pink pouch if you want to get rid of it!
I was coming here to say I love the pink bag!! Does she say what kind it is? I want a Delphonics one from JetPens and that looks similar!!
💜💜
