Super helpful. One thing to note is that the orientation of the extractor can mess you up. I was having trouble and then I moved the exhaust brick to the right side and then got it first try twice in a row in combination with this explanation. Thanks!
@NameWanter I wasn't sure if it did. I always just do it however it automatically faces, and the second one is the same way because I just pull back. I'm so glad this was helpful ❤️

Finding the spot is a bit hard but is so worth it lol! Also to help a bit more to how to power up those: I have a base with 4 oil extractors, two big power generators and 5 Orserks (4 I think would do the job, but I have 1 extra in case they need to use the hot springs). This is enough to power the oil extractors all the time (they have nocturnal passive and work speed passives). So if you use only 2 extractors, I think if you use 2-3 Orserks and one big power generator, it should be enough.
@kimy770 we usually use one lg generator per extractor. I keep at least 2 extra electric pals for breaks, and mine also are nocturnal because those things go all night long. Literally editing a video of one of my little specialized bases with oil right now 😆 Just finished the part about the electricity requirements 😆
You probably have too many Orserks. I run 4 extractors on 2 generators with 2 Artisan/WS/Serious/Noctural 4 star orserks (one assigned to each). So working backwards: 4 star increases the work amount from 5x to 10x so each 4star orserk is worth 2 1-3 star Orserk. Serious (20) + Work Slave (30) + Artisan (50) increase an orserk's work amount by 100%, so each Orserk with passives is worth 2 without. Nocturnal is just more uptime. So a "Wild caught" Orserk is worth 1/4 of a "Perfect" orserk. a power generator only has 3 work slots, so you would need to bump up to an additional generator if you were running 4 extractors and "wild" orserks. If your looking for a stopgap for Breaks, I would upgrade your Helzepher Haulers to Helzepher Lux as they can jump in on occasion.
I generally place mine slightly counter clockwise from the spot you indicated. The big rock is 100% the place to start, but I try and get it all the way out so the center is on the tip of the big rock. sometimes you can get a couple extra pixels if you shift left and right (so that the tip is just in the oil), but the goal is to get the center of the extractor out as far from the center of the well as possible. if you don't understand the "Flower Petal" analogy, I use the oil pool in the center. The rock Left (counter clockwise) from the "Big rock" has a weird little L shaped extension of the oil pool and I just line myself up on that to start, then do the procedure as shown. BTW I'm expecting this video to blow up based on the thumbnail alone ;)

Meanwhile, i have 2 chests full of oil and have turned all but one of my oil bases off. Sooner or later you will reach a point you don't need it. instead I'm still farming mountains of Palidium. It takes way more Pal Metal than Plasteel to make stuff at endgame. Oh, and on a side note, i remember the first time I heard that definition of insanity quote. I was working tech support for a big fruit-themed tech company at the time. My first through was, "That sounds like what we call Troubleshooting."
I had to hold the trigger to angle the extractor in order to fit 2 on the same node. I couldn't get them to be flat like this. I might try again with this explanation.

There is a way easier way, Step one: find the centre Step two: only move the left joystick 🕹️ about one foundation space to the left of the oil spot Step three: build a wood box 🎁 Step four : use the alter align feature to place the first oil mine as close to the edge ass possible, then place the second ( take it slow about 20sec to on the first oil machine, wiggle like crazy for the second one.) Step five : if you have not immediately gotten the second oil snap, replace the chest very slightly, it may be not straight or centred. Note: I can get it in 2mins max, per spot, this work because your only messing with the accuracy of the place in one plain, if the chest is right, they will go down easy, and it's faster to test angles. Doing it with out a reference, requiring pixel perfect accuracy will take ten times as long, your welcome for saving you hours
@dvsgamer3003 actually I can do each set of 2 in 30 seconds or less once you know where to start, as shown in the video. Once you learn, it's MUCH easier to do it this way than to make and break things. I'm glad you found a way you prefer 🤷♀️
