Hi, nice video. Frenchman’s creek is one of my favourite spots. I love camping there. Thought you might find it fun to know, if you weren’t already aware, that Kylie Minogue frolicked on the same tree that you climbed on to get the nice shot. It was in one of her music videos!
My lifelong dream to go to Cornwall has been thwarted by COVID-19, and by the time travel is once again possible...well, I may be to old to go and explore properly, so I decided to try to find a virtual walking option. I’m truly enjoying these short videos, and I’m ‘out-lifted’ away from my living room into the living Cornwall. Thank you! Well done!
Not bad £4.10 for all day, I can live with that. Loved the white cottages, so traditional and British and looked like rodadendrums still out. I like Cornishman Creek the best not so such about the swathbuckerling French pirate mind 😱. Prefect view over the Creek and a couple of ciders to boot, what a great day out. A definite 10 from me, cheers Alan
Thank you very much, both of you. I'm just catching up with your videos now and you're giving me so many ideas for painting in watercolour. Will probably watch them all in time. Stay safe.
Really beautiful walk - such a peaceful and tranquil part of Cornwall, looked like the perfect day. You possibly know that the element Titanium was discovered in Manaccan by the local vicar William Gregor in 1791 - the ore he found was called manaccanite.
Wow- That's really interesting! What would we do today without titanium! All I know about Manaccan is that there is a really old fig tree in the churchyard, and that Andrew lost at cricket! We haven't visited for many years, Sarah :)
What a beautifully shot video, you can certainly see all the time and effort you must spend to get it just right, love all the jokes and silly stuff as well, just so funny!!! Only been to Helford once and it was really rainy but still very pretty, must go back on a sunny day, a cider in that pub sounds perfect at the end of a lovely walk, just what we do sometimes as well. I've never read Frenchman's Creek but really want to read it now. thanks Bets
Well worth a read - very reminiscent of a bygone era! I picked up an old copy in a second hand book store, so no modern edits! We take a lot of time to shoot the video - about 4 hours. I think its worth making the best video we can as it will be on UA-cam for a long time!! Sarah :)
Well it certainly shows, all your videos are really entertaining and very well edited, really impressive. You should get an award from the Cornwall Tourist Board for promoting it so well. Will be looking out for an old copy of the book as I would prefer to read one without modern edits as well. Thanks Bets
This brings back happy memories of this part of Cornwall. I would love to have done your walks when I was younger so I love seeing them now. Have a wonderful weekend. Greetings, Julie.
Hi Sarah & Andrew, what an absolutely fabulous walk and video. Andrew's happy cows! Think he needs to work on his swashbuckling (along with his pole-dancing!). Curious as to what he was doing under the old ship - was he after the propeller to take to the scrappie? The cottages are so quaint and the entire area looks so peaceful and idyllic, and the view from the Shipwright's Arms is stunning. We will definitely have to include this in our plans for next year. Have a good weekend.
Hi Diana, I thought the cottage names were so unusual and interesting! Andrew was actually filming the following shot, so I had to include in the edit ;) The pub looked stunning. We were there at 3 in the afternoon and people were still ordering food that looked and smelt amazing! Sarah :)
Wow! Wow! & Wow! Glorious scenery and wonderful weather, what more could you want? Super filming as usual, we have been away so I have missed you both. Well done guys.
Speaking polish and buckle swashing, got to love it. Hey, you found Black Beards boat. Just a little patch work and you should be able to sail away in it. Love outtakes of videos, but one question, wheres the ice cream shop????????
I was going to kayak that creek this year but never got around to it,maybe next year. That is a beautiful part of home, dad's folks originally came from around Mawgan and Manaccan. Enjoyed that walk you two.The pub looked a beaut.
Lovely to see another video, and the two of you :) What a beautiful area! I love that you film the small details as well as the bigger picture. They gives even more life to the videos. Looking forward to walking there in 2020 ;-) All the best, Torunn.
Hi Sarah! I am well, thank you :) Hoping the same for you. I will certainly have that in mind and check out these converted barns and ask encounterwalkingholidays.com if that is an option for our walk. Helford will be one of our overnight stops anyway :) Torunn :)
A little secret: summer may crop up again in January/February if our walks are called off due to inclement weather - and who doesn't love a drop of Cornish sunshine in the middle of a gloomy winter? Sarah :)
I always love your videos but this one made my day. I have been meaning to ask you to visit Kestle Barton. We stayed there last year and loved it. We were there in the fall and it is nice to see it in summer. Thanks so much for this trip down memory lane. I loved the sound effects for Andrew's joke. Too funny. I had no idea he was taking such risks to get these great shots for us, thanks Andrew! I have two questions--what are the tallest trees you can see when you were enjoying your drink at the Shipwrights Arms and what were the gorgeous flowers at 8:20?
Hi Lori, At 8:20, that would be a Buddliea or 'Butterfly bush'. They grow very easily in our climate, attracting lots and lots of butterflies! Limited colour palette, mainly mauves and pinks. The tall trees are a kind of pine tree, not sure which variety! Kestle Barton looks lovely, if completely different from the first time we walked here. it was still a working farm, with lots of cow poo in the yard - the children did not like it! Sarah :)
@@CornishWalkingTrails Oh I can only imagine that the kids weren't thrilled with a stinky Kestle Barton. It is lovely now, a gallery instead of cows. Thank you for the info on the flowers, love them.
HiSarah and Andrew, Happy Friday😁 Thank You sooo much for this peaceful ,easygoing video, just the thing to start the weekend off right after an extremely crazy week🤪 what a beautiful location and the abandoned boat really did add a little something extra to the location! Of course,Andrew’s impression of a French Swashbuckler was spot on,I definitely think he has a future in the theater, lol . Just great footage as always, I hope you have something fun or relaxing planned for the weekend!! My son has a flag football game on Sunday so Saturday is our only “free” day ,hopefully it is pretty relaxing !! Sending all my best,Lori
Hi Lori, We have annual leave this week and it has started well, with some gloriously warm autumn sunshine! Although the forecast is not so good, we are planning some filming days - fingers crossed! We want to get some woodland to capture some of the autumnal reds, scarlets, russets and oranges, Sarah :)
Just another comment that may or may not interest you and Andrew. In 1957, my mother and her cousin, visiting from New Zealand, tipped out of a dinghy while disembarking from a yacht in Port Navas Creek. This was off the Helford River almost opposite where your lovely video of Frenchman's Creek was taken. My mother's movie camera is still there in the creek somewhere!
What a fantastic tale! We walked there earlier this year - more deteriorating boats but none as characterful as the one in Frenchman's Creek, and certainly no cameras! We filmed it and intend saving it in case the weather is too inclement to film in Jan/Feb - a drop of Cornish Sunshine during winter - although you will be in summer!?! Sarah ;)
Cornish Walking Trails So sad you didn't spot Mum's camera. We still haven't seen the films she took in Pot Navas. I will be looking forward to your filming there.
Loved intrepid Andrew giving us such a great perspective on Frenchman's Creek. I don't think though that the cows were happy to see him. It looked to me like they were laughing at the fact he doesn't have a tail.
Hmmmm....Andrew....swashbuckling is definitely not your forte!!.....but your jokes are still as good as ever! Nice spot for a cider!! Thanks for a lovely days' walk!!..... glad Andrew didn't go out 'that bit further'.....could have been the filming of 'disaster creek' instead!! 👍😀
@@CornishWalkingTrails Sounds like a plan!!...love a good disaster!! And 'universal' car etiquette... Muddy dogs??....absolutely allowed! Muddy Andrews???....absolutely not!! 😁😁

pleins de bons souvenirs me reviennent en mémoire ,un endroit vraiment magique j'aimerais bien y retourner mais pour malheureusement pas pour 2021.
Keep posting guys this is so relaxing and getting people through lockdown like me it's brilliant to see more of my county
Hi there! We have plenty to choose from, about 200 although I think the older ones are a bit ropey!! Sarah :)
