It's like this if we make too much sense it doesn't make sense to some people, hahaha! You did an excellent job to make it clear. It's a shame not everybody can write clear instructions but thank you for your service. Blessings to you and your loved ones.
Thank you! As a new knitter,I thought it was just me not understanding enough about knitting or following a pattern.....I was right to be confused all along tho, regardless of my knitting experience~!! Thanks,,I just had an "ahaaa" moment! 😄🥢🧶
Hi Edie, I'm not sure the slide at 2.46 is correct. Could just be me but should the second equivalent crochet instruction say 5 times? Thanks for the video. I guess many pattern writers don't understand the grammar of repeat. You explained it really well.
Oh, good catch! I'm not sure how I can go back and change that, but I'll see what I can do. Hopefully everybody will read this comment and see that the last instruction should say 5 times. (And I had someone besides me check it before I uploaded it. Boo!)
I need so help with some confusing pattern instructions it says 3 tr in next tr, 1 tr in the next 1 tr, miss 2 dbl tr rep from *to* of previous row 6 times, miss 1 tr, 1 tr in next 2 tr, 3 tr in next tr, 1 tr in the 4th ch of turning chain I don’t understand what rep from *to* of previous row 6 times means Please help me 😭😭 Your video was very helpful
Hi-I'm so glad you found the video helpful! Unfortunately, I'm not able to give individual help here. If you are interested in booking a one-on-one tutorial with me, you can schedule a time at www.edieeckman.com/ask-me-anything.
Depending on the pattern, you might be repeating from * to wherever for one set of repeats, from ** to wherever for another set, then from *** to wherever for a third set of repeats. It depends on the pattern. You'd have to show me an example.
The speed with which you demonstrate is perfect!
Thanks so much! I hope you'll follow me and subscribe to my newsletter! www.edieeckman.com/newsletter
What a wonderful explanation! I never really thought about that before. All pattern writers should read this.
Glad you found it helpful. Tell your friends, or share it with your favorite designers. ;-)
This is one reason why I prefer charts! (And pattern writers note: Nice tidy charts where it's clear where each stitch goes, not quick scribbles!)
Thank you for explaining repeats in the simplistic manner.
You are welcome!

Thanks! And you are so right: we can't please everyone, no matter how much we want to. There is always room for misunderstanding.

Why do I have one (*)
Then (***) than (*). I'm so confused
