I've been working with children on the spectrum for a couple years now, and I have to say, nothing makes me happier than seeing parents who are so involved in their children's lives. God bless you and your family.
You are such a caring and thoughtful father. Abby is so lucky to have you. Also, I hope you know your witty humor and jokes really make your videos even more enjoyable!! Great job and I wish you the best.
This is an AWESOME video! Heck, I need a room like this in my house. I think everyone, autistic or not, would be entertained by that. She did an awesome job communicating in this video as well!
Adin's Music "Hi" and "bye" is prompted communication and I use the word communication lightly in that situation. It's basically no different than if I told her to put her hand on head. Asking for music was a genuine demand that she communicated on her own. I film on my iPhone 6s + and that's why she grabbed it at the end of the video. She knows I have music on it. Thanks for watching. I promise a communication video is coming soon.
This is awesome. Not for me, I hate bright colors and flashy lights...but what you do for her. I wish all parents of autistic children would try to understand and accomodate. So cool.
I started watching these videos on recommendation from my sister. I am hooked. Your parenting and dedication to Abee makes me cry. I am an Autism parent too and you give us all hope and good advice. God bless your family.
Im writing this in November of 2020 and she has grown so much and has changed a lot since this video. Watching her grow has been an amazing experience. I want to write you guys cause i think y'all could help me, y'all have helped me wuth videos already so i know y'all could help me more. I love all of you so much, thank you for everything you do.
I love her sensory room! Makes me want to turn my walk in closet into one! I have no windows in there and it's big! I could hide in there. Lol Seriously, love it! And Abbie's smile is so contagious, I just love her!
As an OT, I love love love to see how much support you provide for your daughter. It’s so nice when parents get it and do what they need to do as caregivers-provide care however it is needed so that your child may flourish and thrive. Shout out to all the awesome parents out there doing their research and going above and beyond to have their beautiful children’s needs met 💜
This video makes me so happy. I just came across your channel today. I run a group home for adults with varying mental and physical disabilities a lot of them don’t have families who care. This makes my heart so happy to see such a loving and dedicated family! I subscribed!
I discovered your channel a month or two ago and I’ve binged episode after episode ever since. your family is awesome! My youngest son (12) was diagnosed with ASD Level 1 (Aspergers) in June this year after living with just an ADHD diagnosis for the last five years. In my son’s room, I created an area in his dormer window nook with his stuffed animals, snow globes, a blanket and a big joe bean bag chair. He seemed to always be sitting in that nook of his room, so I wanted to make it cozier. I did this well before I knew he had autism. Turns out I created a sensory area for him without even realizing I was doing that. Your video made the connection for me. I’m feeling like a winning parent right now. Haha
THIS IS AWESOME!!! We are just learning about autism and SPD. We have a 4 yr old grandson that has SPD. These DIY projects like yours are a LIFE SAVER to us. THANK YOU and your Abby is just ADORABLE!
Red is also good at the end of the day because it doesn't inhibit melatonin production. That's why there's a 'night shift' on the iPhone that adds the red light to it, and on a Kindle fire there's a red light you can program on.
Tearing up watching your beautiful video and your lovely daughter, family and sensory room! Are precious, oldest of 6, 15 year old just got diagnosed with autism (although we knew she had it for years). We are about to make her sensory room so she will have place that is filled with joy and wonder rather than the stress that she goes through everyday just having such a challenging disorder. You gave us hope thank you so much
have i really been following you guys for almost 4 years, this is the first video i remember watching, this is crazy, shes grown up so much since then.
Thank you for making video! our son Matthew,4 also input seeker and would love that ball pit! thanks again and definitely appreciate the sense of humor!
i fully surport all your videos. my daughter may be autistic and shows so many of these signs ive seen in ur videos u are great parents and these videos ahow what it takes to do what u can for ur child which is beautiful. shes such a great kid.
I don't care for any one with autism but this whole video enthralled me. What ingenious solutions you're using to better Abbie's life. You seem like a great father. That room looks awesome. The Trump wall joke was hilarious.
Do you mean you have nobody in your life that's autistic, or you don't like autistic people? I assume the first, but I've met plenty of people who hate us.
My walk in closet is my sensory room as well! Mine is an underwater theme and I find it very calming and it also gives me good sensory input and helps me when I’m overwhelmed/overstimulated. I love your DIYS!
A friend of mine has a little boy who is also nonverbal he is the sweetest kid I truly believe we were put on this earth for a reason and see how people respond to us and myself also with autism
Love this room - I often think that it would be good for Jon but he is 15 now and engrossed in his laptop! Love your videos - keep up the good work... :) PS.... wouldn't mind this room for myself!
Michelle Hatcher Life Coaching I am the same way with my IPhone IPod touch and laptop I age Asperger's syndrome/autism idk what I would do with out those devices.
I am glad i found your video. Ur a wonderful family. Am a special educator and i find it very useful for all parents. I am motivated to work. Thanks a lot
I'm autistic and my mom at the very least has SPD and so we have so many projector lights. One of them is made for outside so the whole house gets bathed in this slowly twirling blue lights, like if you're underwater. There's another one though it has lasers and it it's super stripey and cool. Our whole house has been turned into a sensory room. We have stim toys everywhere, kinetic sand, hot wheels, everything. I love it.
She is amazing and beautiful. Great job and great sense of humor. I have an 9 year old non verbal son. I definitly relate to everything you have and do :)
I help at my school with children who have autism , Down syndrome and angelmans. We have an amazing sensory room with so many things for the kids to use and they help so much. Something that helps a lot is they have a essential oil scent release in the room, (you can find them at bed bath and beyond) and lavander always helps the kids to relax
Did Abbie always seem to understand language? My daughter is completely non verbal too but she has had the hardest time understanding words, she can imitate signs but if we said a word she would not know it to sign it on her own. If that makes sense. Shes 5 so I didn't know if it got better over time...
Christina Teresa Brown has she been able to work with a speech therapist? (I feel like they are more "communication" therapists in lots of instances like when you're trying to teach nonverbal methods of communication) I know some kids will pick it up better if you try and sign as much as possible while speaking, too... But it sounds like the primary challenge for you at the moment is teaching the connection between her requesting something, via sign or picture of it, etc, and understanding that the object is related to her action) Not sure if that made a ton of sense the way I said it... And I realize this is a year old so maybe she's got it figured out better now, you sound like a great parent who will help continue to support her! Hope you are all well! :)
I teach non-verbal students and the main thing I’ve learned is to teach concrete words with the object. So have a football, sign the word, then teach the verbalization. Afterwards, teach familiar phrases and questions. I want... football. The hardest part for me to teach is wait and no. But my students have made tremendous gains using this formula and consistency.
Hey I know I'm 4 years late but i would like to just say thank you for these diy's because i also have autism and anxiety and in constant need of fidgets. On my behalf of the autism community I would like to sincerely thank you!!
My mom is a special ed teacher and she has a sensory room with bean bags, blue string lights (that's I gave her☺️), those large blue gym mats, and different textured exercise balls (like one is smooth, another has blunt little spikes, etc). She also has one of those camera baby monitors and the viewfinder is set up at her desk. That's where the kids go if they throw tantrums or have meltdowns, the camera is to make sure they don't hurt themselves. I hang out in there after her school gets out because it's so cool and comfortable:)
Niecey Spina Well, if you click on the "bell" icon next to the subscribe button UA-cam will notify you every time we upload a video. So it will be just like having those neighbors that ring your door bell way to often. :) Thanks for subscribing!

Abigail is such a sweetheart! 😊😍😍💕💕💕 That little space is so cool!!! I love all the different colours and lights, I'm on the spectrum myself I would absolutely love my.own sensory room too 😀💖
If your son also has a need to chew, you should get him some chewies! You can get them from Stimtastic or chewigem (just put country you're from for chewigem to get the right website). I'm autistic and chewis help me so much to calm down during/before/after a meltdown or just to calm down in general. They are also textured so you can get all kinds of sensory integration. I really, really suggest them if your son enjoys to chew!
I've been working with children on the spectrum for a couple years now, and I have to say, nothing makes me happier than seeing parents who are so involved in their children's lives. God bless you and your family.
She is so cute and beautiful!! Y'all have great personalities!
Can we see the sensory room again since its almost a whole year later?
You are such a caring and thoughtful father. Abby is so lucky to have you. Also, I hope you know your witty humor and jokes really make your videos even more enjoyable!! Great job and I wish you the best.

Adin's Music good idea I have done my own Sensory Room. I have made a Underwater Sea Creatures Sensory Room by using item that we throw out.
No I don't like small places or the sound of the light.

I was thinking the same thing...
This is awesome. Not for me, I hate bright colors and flashy lights...but what you do for her. I wish all parents of autistic children would try to understand and accomodate. So cool.
Autistic Tic same, I like dark and cold spaces lol
Could do it with much softer lighting

I dont know why these old videos are coming up but im LOVING THEM!!! I can see the progress in Abbie and in your video skills too, 💖🙏
You do so much for Abigail. Makes me wonder what parents did for kids like Abigail many years ago when info and items like this wasn't available.
KW they institutionalized them
I started watching these videos on recommendation from my sister. I am hooked. Your parenting and dedication to Abee makes me cry. I am an Autism parent too and you give us all hope and good advice. God bless your family.

It's beautiful the way she shows she loves the room!! She seems she's a kind of proud of having it. It's really cute.
Thank you so much. I have a spare room that I'm changing to a sensory room for my son. This was a huge help thank you.

You guys are awesome! Great to see the whole family helping, melts my heart!
Wow you have all come so far. I watch you almost every night when I come home from work. Love all of your videos and loving family. :)
Love the colors of the hallway(?) With the pastels, it's so pretty
It looks so relaxing, thanks for the tips on the light colors, good to know!

Wowww in 2 years, you guys went from 213 subs to 200,000 that’s crazy awesome!! I subbed a few months ago but now I’m catching up on old vlogs!!
I just love that little chick. She's just precious.

You are such a great dad! And your dad jokes get me every time 😂😂
I wish I would have found you last year, I'm sure a room like this would have helped my daughter to calm down when she would get upset.
Hey I know I'm 4 years late but i would like to just say thank you for these diy's because i also have autism and anxiety and in constant need of fidgets. On my behalf of the autism community I would like to sincerely thank you!!
I love her little room ☺❤
Over 129k in two years!?!? Wow! You guys really deserve it.
This means I was one of your first subscribers. I remember when this posted.
Wish I had parents as good as you ! Her little stimming at the end was so cute
You guys are a great family and you and your wife are amazing parents
New sub., ur a great dad! Many father's don't do this for children without autism, to see ur love and dedication is awesome GREAT JOB BY GREAT DAD!!
Thank you, and thanks for subscribing.
I made a sensory tube once! I still have it.
I wish I had a sensory room. Or even just the ball pit.
My mom is a special ed teacher and she has a sensory room with bean bags, blue string lights (that's I gave her☺️), those large blue gym mats, and different textured exercise balls (like one is smooth, another has blunt little spikes, etc). Thanks so much for sharing. Your family is adorable.
This is unreal! You guys are absolutely amazing ❤️ makes my heart happy
she's so cute and I love you and your family!
this space is beautiful.you have done an awesome job.
Amazing ❤️
aww when you only had 200 subs!
love what you did within the space! so creative
That was nice. I'm sure you've refurbished it by now, everyone should have a ball pit in their home. 👍
There's not much parents on youtube that are respectful of autistic kids. You actually do it for educational purposes and I find your videos are very helpful even for an autistic person like myself. So thank you for being respectful and informative.
I do like how the room turned out. I didn't think about the blanket over the light. I'll have to use that when I get my own home. Might I suggest putting foam padding up to provide soundproofing?
How is Abby doing? I have SPD and I watch your videos and you have inspired me. Thank you for making such good videos.
What an awesome little room for an awesome little girl :) Shows you and your family love Abbie very much.
I'd love my own little space like that. My dream house will have a cosy sunken bed type sleeping area with speakers that will get quieter then stop after I'm asleep. And definitely at least one of those cool lights with the remote control that I've thought about buying in stores. Oh, and a ball pit obviously!
Have you ever watched the videos that Mr Chris produces, Special Books by Special Kids (aka SBSK)? He's always having wonderful conversations with young people and adults with a diagnosis, whether it's autism or cerebral palsy or something you've never heard of.
Cee Kay I have seen his work. He is actually a teacher in our area. A local awareness hero.
Wow, that's so cool that you know him! He's on tour now, in Australia at the moment. I think it'd be fun to meet him if he ever visits my country.
LOVE that
I know it's a year later, but have you seen the episode where Chris interviews these guys? I think it's so ironic you asked that and now they have a video together.
This is insanely sweet! I'm currently doing a paper on sensory rooms for my Uncommon Topics essay and I just recently learned about them. I'm learning a lot about autism from channels like this in preparation so I have multiple real life sources.
Sounds great! I get a lot of comments from students that choose to do projects related to autism. Warms my hears.
Abigail is such a sweetheart! 😊😍😍💕💕💕
That little space is so cool!!! I love all the different colours and lights, I'm on the spectrum myself I would absolutely love my.own sensory room too 😀💖
This is really cool. You guys are so creative with what you come up with. I hope everything keeps going good.
How cool Abbies room
shes adorable, thanks for the great idea
OMG
A 3 anos atrás voces tavam com 213 inscritos, hoje dia 11 de novembro ja tem 121 MIL , parabéns
I totally need a sensory room. Love it.
Love the lights
What kind of music does she prefer? Or just any music?
Love the ball pit! Great idea!!
You are amazing...and blessed.
Your sons trump impression is amazing lol
Swiss Rich smart kid, not bad looking either....lol
Love it! We are getting ready to make one for our Katie in a small under the stairs closet in our new house. Got a lot of great ideas on here!! 💜💜💜💜
I made my 9 year old son, who is also nonverbal autistic, a sensory board. It is really neat and he loves it.
You have beautiful daughter. You are such caring father too. :)
lalamaxforevermax Thanks so much!
She is so cute! U r so lucky to have her❤️
