    I desperately want to keep a plain shrimp tank. I recently got a preggo shrimp from petco and she laid. 2 of the babies are very active and they are in a small container until my goldfish tank is cycled and I can move them to another fish’s old tank. @@LilPondDragon you need a good sized population (50 to 100+) before adding even a peaceful betta. They'll eat the babies and leave the adults alone, but they still might go on a rampage someday. Ahh man. I'm doing chemical engineering at uni and for a round of exams to procrastinate I made a very heavily planted shrimp tank. And it's just steadily growing. It's a 20L nano tank. And it started off as basic. Buuuut as time progresses you get more and more stuff. Now I have a CO2 system and last night (while trying to rationalize my choices) was doing differential equations to find when is the ideal time for water changes. It's a great hobby and watching the shrimp is so calming and meditative.

    When you did the trimming and replanting did you just plant what you trimmed off? And if so does that only work for certain plants?

    Makes me feel better I'm not the only one that experienced S. Repens melting... ,>.>,

    I had the same thing happen to my S.repens and I have no idea why. I assumed my water was too hard or something along those lines. My crypts on the other hand are loving life

    Cool little tank! Probably better off using an odd number of stones though.

    I don’t think you gave your Repens enough light, in my experience I’ve never been able to grow it in low light, but as soon as I moved it to a tank with higher lighting it took off and looked really good.

      Yea my repens all lost their leaves and died and it was probably because of lower light or not enough nutrients

    3:21 I just did a 3 gallon shrimp tank, and while filling it up 50% of the plants floated. It drives me NUTS. I also hate it when a plant has barely any roots, and when I try to plant it, it will just float and the only way to keep it down is put a little bit of the substrate on the leaves, and then just looks terrible!

    ;-; I had a red cherry shrimp tank once
    I also had crystal black shrimp
    They did really good for a few months and then suddenly they all died. The only thing I can think that did it was the fertilizer I started using for the plants. It was supposed to be shrimp safe but idk. Maybe one day I will try again because they are really the neatest little things. My favorite tank I ever had. They are so fun to watch and they used to sit on my hand while I did water changes ;-;

    what chemicals to use for the water? just the usual water conditioner? i worry any melt from my tank plants might cause a big ammonia spike and kill the skrimps when i add them :(
