    Something I've noticed. Why are there so few homes with Solar panels in these communities? Do the HOAs have heavy restrictions on how they can be installed?

      No I don't think HOA's have much to do with it. From what i've experienced it comes down to the cost or investment into the panels. To see the return on your investment for Solar Panels it takes a solid 10-15 years of living there.

      Really it has to do with cost. Not everyone wants to put down around 45k for the purchase and installation of solar panels, those who do often times get a loan, with a relatively high interest rate, which is around 5-6 percent. Until the solar panels are paid off, they are a liability and not an asset that is factored in the value of the home. If someone sells a house with solar panels that are not paid off, the seller either needs the buyer to assume the loan, or agree to pay off the loan with the proceeds of the sale. Once the panels are paid off, then it will increase the home value. To me,it’s worth it. It means I can run basically anything in my house without restriction, and my bill is only $18 per month. I don’t have any high-draw power tools, and my system is sized correctly for our home. As far as the HOA, Triple Creek does have guidelines that we need to review, and panels like these would likely require approval.
