May I add the first primer card makes it annoying to pay them sooner then later. I had to call in the number and input my info to the bot on the phone for them to receive the payment sooner then waiting a week or so for it to show up on the app. So paying with a debit card only available on the phone and inputting all my info gets annoying every time.

These kind of cards are insanely predatory like you mentioned. It's so unfortunate that they even exist. Folks that apply for them probably shouldn't have credit cards to begin with.

I completely agree. Hopefully calling them out will help people avoid them, but their aggressive marketing techniques still fool folks unfortunately.

I carried a balance on credit one for 7 years. I finally got wise paid off everything and build my credit to just under 800, now I never carry a balance, never pay for first class vacations, I have two first class trips scheduled in 2025 all on points. I have 7 credit cards. And I do pay fees on my Amex Platinum, Chase Reserve, Amex Hilton and a few others, but where else can you get a $7,000.00 first class one way flight on a good airline for 80.000 points? No more stress fighting the crowds, with clear, TSA Precheck and Global Entry along with lounge access. Oh and lay down seats too.

As a non american, i find it baffling how americans got gaslit into accepting such a system.
The sheer lunacy of "having to build credit" or "having to rebuild credit" or "having to average credit card ages"
It's all so incredibly predatory and americans talk about it like it's completely normal.

I’m big on Disney Parks and I think the Disney Visa is about as bad as a Walt Disney World churro. (DisneyLAND churros are pretty great and fresh on average. Disney WORLD churros are stale and bad and only there to trick people who have heard that “Disneyland Churros are great!” And they don’t understand there’s a difference.) But if you have a Chase checking account you can get a Disney Visa Debit card for access to the special events and photo ops in the parks only available for Disney Visa holders.

Mine has a €30/y cost, 10% annual intrest, £2500 limit, and a 180 day purchase insurance.

@@jomahawk7488the fact you are so successfully disciplined is why not using a credit card is a dumb move. You’re throwing away money. That sounds like a scam line, but it’s true. And it’s ONLY true if you have very good financial discipline. I use my credit card for everything. Literally everything. And pay it off every Monday. And earn 1-4% sometimes more, on everyday expenses I have to make in life. I never carry a balance. Never pay even a cent in interest. Sure, the 1-4% is nothing compared to a CD or investments. But it is the easiest return you’ll get on spending money you’re already spending. Seriously, if you’re as well disciplined as you say; get a credit card and pay it off every week or every paycheck. Just do NOT use it for things you wouldn’t already be buying. Don’t EVER use it to get cash. And don’t ever carry a balance. And you’ll come out ahead.
