That porridge was the first thing I ate when I got to hanoi. I didn’t know what I was ordering but I ate every spoonful while the locals stared at me in disbelief that a foreigner was eating porridge. 😅
just cant beat having a local tour you around to the best spots. cheap and the best. cannot beat vietnams fresh food

I grew up in Hanoi, living in Texas for the moment... I always pull and stretch the sticky rice patties so that the sausage is completely covered 😉
It is amazing to see an American who could enjoy sticky rice but, at the same time, you enjoy bún đậu mắm tôm as well, so, what can I say! 😂
It’s cold in Hanoi now, try the Cháo sườn in Đồng Xuân market, they only sell at night. If it is the weekend, you can enjoy the night market also
You maybe knew this but mắm ruốc in Saigon is fermented shrimp paste but in Hanoi we call it mắm tôm. Ruốc like Lylla said is meat floss or chà bông

I love bánh dày so much! When I would visit my grandparents over the summer, my grandmother (bà nội) would make these for me all the time. Didn't matter what time of year.

Yo Bro, if you are near, please go to Hang Be market, find the Tố Lan chicken store. They got the best fried bird (pigeon if i not wrong) and mung bean sticky rice. They only do take away but they are some of the best. Try it sometime. I would also recommend the grill quail bird on Tạ Hiện street (like 900m from Hàng Bè), they was really good on the back old day, im not so sure it’s still good for now, cause the last time i eat there was like 15 years ago

This snack can be found in the south because it's a quick meal, and is sold everywhere in town " Tiem Cha " . Cha is different from sausages and hotdogs . Because of the different cooking processes. Cha is made up from pork or cows, meats are grounded, and mixed with spicy ingredients, and then is packed and moulded in the pattern before going to the streaming process. Ok !

How is hanoi weather in february? I have been there in january when its cold (which i like!😅) but a little moist with mostly cloudy days
Supposedly cold, but it should be cold now and that wasn’t the case when I was there haha
In Feb, still cold, drizzly, humid, foggy, grey sky. Not an ideal weather to travel in the North.
