I love Ola Belle Reed's claw hammer style on this song. She's the artist that really caught my attention and the reason I purchased my first banjo to learn to play like her. It's really cool to see it played in this two finger up picking style here as well. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic 👌 I heard Robert Plants Saving Grace play this. Loved it so I bought a banjo. Played guitar for years, but this type of music and sound gets my bones.
Claire Marsden Looks like an up picking style that’s popularized by people like Pete Seeger, and most anyone who’s played Little Birdie. I think Clifton goes into detail on it on one of his videos abt Little Birdie.
At 03:45 I start in with what's called up-picking, up-stroke or (erroneously) "Seeger style." Many old dance pieces like Little Birdie are best played using an up-stroke style like this.

Thank you for the video. That sounded great. The angle of the camera was so good, seeing what both your hands were doing.

Great stuff, thank you Mr Hicks 👍
Great video of a great song. What tuning are you in?
Nice picking !...
Ola Belle Campbell Reed grew up as a neighbor of my father. (I'm kind of old!) (More dynamite stuff, always!)
Does anyone know where I can find tabs for this?
I think that's the first time I've seen you playing a resonator banjo. I was thinking you didn't play them on principle, or something.
I like them. Definitely best for band or street performance. The can be difficult to sing over is all.
🖤
Sorry I'm new to this what was the last style you played?

Hii i see that you have a patreon but do you teach 1 on 1 lessons?
Actually would you possibly be able to give the time eg 2min in I start playing X style?

Interesting picking technique; no picks either.
Prefer the up-picking and wish you'd sung this one; picking is naked without words , or at least some vocalisation, doesn’t need to make sense.
