I didn't find any fault with Mr Ricky either except that if a man lets another man border in his home he should expect trouble because it's coming. I have no pity for Mrs Ricky what happened to her is just. Seems to me she tried to break all of the 10 commandments. My heart goes out to the boy who is dead but suffers no more and to the little girl who suffers evermore. Sad story.
I wonder what happened to her when she went to live in the foster home. Foster homes can be terrible for children too but it’s just better than her actual family situation! She’d be really elderly if still alive!
@@Luvtallhorses thank you for noticing. I do know the difference, however sometimes when typing on my phone I see what I think is the word I'm looking for. I'm curious though, what do you think about the story?
I'm so glad I found you. I was born way way later than when this happened but I love history of Kentucky I'm from Grant/ Harrison Counties love this story although it breaks my heart 💔
I knew not a thing about Appalachia when I visited, but the beauty of it, didn’t make it less creepy. I’ve always been sensitive to environments and I just wanted to experience what I was told was one of the most beautiful backdrops this country has. I’d already been to Utah and Joshua Tree, and the Dakotas. But, the eeriness of this area came through me in such a way that I HAD to research and it was scarier after then during. So much dark history. Such a large expanse of land and a lot of it is just dark. This story is just along the lines of all I have already read about this area.
Your charming cadence makes even a story as horrid as this palatable to listen to. Thanks for the way you present these cases. You’re a wonderful story teller.
Roy's father although he was found not guilty did not protect his son or daughter. He didnt show any emotion when he saw his son hanging from the tree. Disgraceful father!
Some people are just detached from life...I am not defending him, because he saw his son hanging from a tree and not a tear was shed, didn't even attempt to cut his own son down, and didn't say a word until asked, unfortunately some people never develop a bond with their children and he was apparently one of those people. I say this because I have an uncle who was this way, he was a workaholic, amazing provider for the family, they wanted for nothing, but never loving with my cousins. And came from the Appalachians....hmmmm
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and I'm so impressed! Terrifying and horrifying tale, but wonderfully told, effective editing, and earned my sub right away! Hope to see the channel grow, will check out some of your other videos now, thank you! I haven't been fortunate enough to visit the US yet, but I hope to one day. With affection from your cousins across the pond!
This is a new story to me. You did a wonderful job of telling it. Where did this happen? If it had been in my home area of Kentucky, most of the adults would have been talking about a sorry woman like that. Some of the women may have tried to run her off (in fear that she would steal their men).
I recently became a step mom to the son of the father of my 2 babies. And honestly I can't imagine hurting him period. It's kind of hard in the beginning because everything is so new and different. But honestly I am lucky and bless. he's a good kid. And he loves his baby sister and brother 💖🙏. I can't judge but I'll never hurt my babies regardless!! 😭

That is the saddest story of poor Roy. The black eyed beauty got just what she deserves. My thoughts are with the little girl. I will hope her life was happy after the life she was living 😢
Great story teller...that always help 😊
Thank you Deborah!
Thanks! Even though it was a very sad story.
Thank you so much, this story was hard for me to tell, but I can’t let this little boys story be forgotten, RIP Roy Rickey
@@TheAppalachianStoryteller ❤️
This stepmother deserved everything she got this is a heart breaking story!! Rest in peace sweet little Roy Ricky 💙🙏💙🙏 Thank you for sharing this story I live here in Ky 💙
Thank you, I did my best to make sure young Roy wasn't forgotten
You are the best storyteller!
Thank you!
Love your stories, this was a bit eerie for me as my grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather were all named James "jim" Handy
Thanks so much !
Heartbreaking yet terrifying story. Poor little boy. Wicked, wicked mother. 😢
💜
Wow J.D. Another really freaky story already ! It must be getting close to Halloween. Thanks for all you do 👍
Thank you ❤️
Glad to hear she didn't go peacefully in her sleep. But what happened to the boarder? He was still guilty of trying to cover it up. And didn't go through with testifying.
He got life in prison
Thank you for the answering my question. And as always, great storytelling.
I just tuned in to your channel and I'am "Staying" 👍
Welcome to the channel!
You have a talent JD.
The way you tell a story is like being there in person.
That, to me, is an unique talent!!!!
Thank you!!!
I just subscribed😊
Can’t wait to hear more of you telling these tales💕💜💕
Thank you so much Annmarie! When I write these stories I do my best to make you feel like you personally know all the people in the stories and are watching it unfold. Welcome to the channel!
Wow, that was an intense story… very well told!
thanks so much
Hey brother, Donnie turned me onto your channel. FYI. Figured anyone that he would recommend would be solid people. Those are missing in the world today. God bless.
Donnie is a great guy
New subscriber from bonnie Scotland. Fantastic stories - and i thought no one told stories better than the scots 😉😜
Welcome Margaret!
Despite the sad and horrifying story, I loved your narration. Thank you for all of your hard work
Thank you so much, Mary. It is a tragic story, but one that definitely needs to be remembered.
Thanks! Great story. ❤
Thank you Aquahoma, it is most certainly a tragic story, but one that needs to be remembered. Rest In Peace Roy Rickey. You are not forgotten
You sure are a terrific storyteller JD, I could listen to you all day.
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words and support!
Ok WOW, I wasn't expecting that ending. 😮 Great Story and Narration.
Thank you very much!
Fantastic storytelling have listened to quite a few of your stories . Best wishes from Scotland 🏴
Thank you ! and greetings from the hills of East Tennessee
Wow!! Watched last night with my son. Very sad what that little boy went through😔 Thanks for sharing😊
Thank you so much and Rest In Peace young man, I did my best to make sure your story wasn't forgotten
Sir I must say you tell a highly interesting story. Each and every on has been excellent.
I do my best to bring the characters to life and make the viewer feel like they are in the story
Sad story.
Well said James
I wonder what happened to her when she went to live in the foster home. Foster homes can be terrible for children too but it’s just better than her actual family situation! She’d be really elderly if still alive!
@@oooh19 not sure she went to a foster home, but one thing is certain. She would have been truly traumatized.
Board not border
@@Luvtallhorses thank you for noticing. I do know the difference, however sometimes when typing on my phone I see what I think is the word I'm looking for. I'm curious though, what do you think about the story?
I'm so glad I found you. I was born way way later than when this happened but I love history of Kentucky I'm from Grant/ Harrison Counties love this story although it breaks my heart 💔
Welcome my friend
Fantastic episode! One of the best yet!
Thank you ❤️
😮 WoW just WoW !!
A really really dark story, things like this let me know that evil in this world is real.
The crowd was there after the fact. Just where that same crowd when Ricky Roy needed them when he was Living?!!!
💜
They obviously didn’t know what happened behind closed doors
That was awesome!!! We've been captivated by many of your videos and now we're hooked. My favorite so far was the Appalachias Rambo...
Thanks Jack, so glad to have you here brother!
That’s tragic , sad and horrifying. People do some rather terrifying things to their children, these are people who don’t deserve to be parents.
agreed
I knew not a thing about Appalachia when I visited, but the beauty of it, didn’t make it less creepy. I’ve always been sensitive to environments and I just wanted to experience what I was told was one of the most beautiful backdrops this country has. I’d already been to Utah and Joshua Tree, and the Dakotas. But, the eeriness of this area came through me in such a way that I HAD to research and it was scarier after then during. So much dark history. Such a large expanse of land and a lot of it is just dark. This story is just along the lines of all I have already read about this area.
Thanks for sharing
My goodness the stepmother is exactly like Leticia Stauch!
💜
Holy Hell! The last few minutes were really intense! Great job!
Thanks so much John!
Your charming cadence makes even a story as horrid as this palatable to listen to. Thanks for the way you present these cases. You’re a wonderful story teller.
Thank you so much!
Oh this was a good one!
Thank you Sharon!
Wow! What a story!
Thank you!
Thank you Tammy!
Roy's father although he was found not guilty did not protect his son or daughter.
He didnt show any emotion when he saw his son hanging from the tree.
Disgraceful father!
agreed
Some people are just detached from life...I am not defending him, because he saw his son hanging from a tree and not a tear was shed, didn't even attempt to cut his own son down, and didn't say a word until asked, unfortunately some people never develop a bond with their children and he was apparently one of those people. I say this because I have an uncle who was this way, he was a workaholic, amazing provider for the family, they wanted for nothing, but never loving with my cousins. And came from the Appalachians....hmmmm
Enjoyed, incredible story, Thanks for sharing jd
A bit of lost history brought back to life
You are a fabulous storyteller.
That m you Maria!
Poor little Roy. What little life he got to live was such a sad one. RIP ❤
RIP ❤️
I love theese stories!!
Thank you!
Poor kid. I don't know how people can be so cruel. But some of them are.
There is real evil in this world
This is the first video of yours I've seen, and I'm so impressed!
Thank you and welcome to the channel! Greetings from East Tennessee
This is a new story to me. You did a wonderful job of telling it. Where did this happen? If it had been in my home area of Kentucky, most of the adults would have been talking about a sorry woman like that. Some of the women may have tried to run her off (in fear that she would steal their men).
It happened in Carter County Kentucky
You are a very eloquent and articulate story teller!! Fabulous tale, but poor little boy! God bless him! ❤
Thank you so much ❤️
@TheAppalachianStoryteller Delighted to get a reply!! You are so welcome! Bless you! ❤️
Excellent story, well told. Thank you.
Peace and roses,
Deb the TN Scary Lady
Thank you Deb!
Amen
Love your stories.
Thank you so much!
Excellent story teller!
Thank you!
