- I had SUCH an amazing time traveling to Leeds, England for the first with my friend Dominique to explore her hometown. I felt so welcomed and I can't wait to visit again! Is Leeds on your list of England cities to visit? PS. I'm officially obsessed with the Leeds/Yorkshire accent lol.

Leeds is a very underrated city, many people only hear of london, manchester and birmingham but leeds is actually the 3rd largest stand alone city in england, it just does not get as much coverage although with ch4 headquarters in the city now as well as new government departments in the city this should change. It has such a great city centre with beautiful old architecture spanning many streets together with a vast amount of new modern skyscraper tall buildings currently going up, its also one of the fastest growing city centres in europe with cranes up all over the city
This really makes me wanna travel to Leeds one day. I’m living my dream to travel the UK through you. Keep it up hahaha

Paige.....you make me want to visit England....it's been too long! Moved to Atlanta 20 odd years ago and have not been back. Watching your videos as you travel to different towns/cities and really enjoying how engaging and informative they are. I was listening to Dom and realized her accent sounded like someone I knew.....Mel B aka Scary Spice who's also from Leeds.
I'm from Georgia too. I'm in Atlanta alot. I started wanting to visit Leeds after I followed this lady from Leeds living in Atlanta with triplets. Don't think she has a page anymore. Anyway, she visited Leeds and it seemed really cool. Yorkshire has alot of interesting history as well.
Loved this vlog! Wow, There is so much (Caribbean) culture in Leeds! You have been in the UK for a shorter time than me but have explored more of it! Dom’s family was so welcoming and it was cute how her younger cousins wanted to hang out with all of you. 😊
Leeds is a really diverse city....So many different cultures mingling in together ,making it a vibrant happy place .I try to get a train into Leeds city at least once a,month x

As I was about to comment on it, I see you mentioned it in your description LOL. But as an American also, I have been picking up more and more on the different accents. Like you can tell when someone is from an area further up north from London.

Leeds got its name from an ancient forest called Leodis that once stood in its place I believe? I don't believe it existed in the Viking age anyway, places in Leeds like Morley did though. Wakefield was the seat of Viking power for the west riding. As the Vikings would have said "Jorvik vestr þriðjungur". The university of Leeds wanted to collaborate with the council to create the world's first self repairing city using robotics and drones. Apparently around 4 and a half thousand jobs in advanced manufacturing are soon coming to Leeds, that's on top of the tens of thousands of jobs being created by these developments.. It's a great international city, and is a "Brain gain" city, it's GDP grew 40% in under ten years, and it's city centre is set to double in size over the next few years and an urban park is coming to central Leeds, it also has boat taxis that were imported from Holland. It's an outward looking city made up of people from across the world. The dialect is WR Yorkshire dialect, it has over a thousands words of Viking origin (Specifically old East Norse, "Ey Up" cf "Sey Upp" Swedish, and it actually means "look up" in both Swedish and Yorkshire dialect but most people think it means "hello") And there's words ike "Mun" that means "Must" in dialect, in old Norse it's "Munu" meaning "Will"

The Leed’s accent sounds like a Scottish and British accent mix. Dominique’s boyfriend is such a comedian. I like the look of Leeds, England. @Murial James I think you are thinking of your own insular country folk. Great Britain is relatively compact with an extensive road and rail network and us locals get around alot to visit various parts of it on a very regular basis. For example my wife and I have just walked the 180 mile national trail of the Thames Path in 13 days for our summer holiday . So your perception is wrong and all Paige is doing is adapting to local culture.
England is about the size of our state of Georgia so excuse us for being "insular" compared to you. We have a very good highway (Interstate system) here but the country is just so damn huge you really need to fly alot to see it all. Anyway, would love to visit England and see Leeds and alot more of it outside just London.
gacaptain - you are more than welcome to visit and I can heartily recommend London for the historical sights and architecture. Then Yorkshire and Leeds for the same, plus wonderful scenery. I was a little tetchy on comments on us locals travelling extensively in our own country, without any perception on reality.

I cannot wait for Africa to go back to normal and open up like the first world. Everytime I watch such vlogs, it breaks my heart a little that we still stuck in curfews, interzonal lockdowns, 0 entertainment, super low vaccination rate and so on, while the rest of the world has gone back normal.

aside: the stairs of the Courthouse is where my brother in law got married. And the Courthouse has an amazing concert venue inside it, and I saw one of the best concerts I've ever been to there! Also, I work across the street from there! :D

I always recommend living as close to school as possible but it definitely would be cheaper to live elsewhere and commute. That definitely has to be a personal decision based on your own finances. 💕

So much more to see though, Royal Armouries, Leeds Dock, Kirskall Abbey & Museum (11th century). Massive parks like Roundhay, with tropical World, Harewood House, Temple Newsam. Its also got a great nightlife!!

The statue outside of the art gallery is by Henry Moore and is called Mother and Child... Yorkshire Sculpture Park has many of his other pieces set in beautiful landscape.
Did you know that the guy who 1st found carbon dioxide (soda bubbles) was born near Leeds and went to the Leeds University, he was one of many people from that era who had connection to Leeds and West Yorkshire... We're not all about whippets and Yorkshire pudding lmao 😂 ❤️

Sorry 😢 about uk 🇬🇧 summer Paige just one of dose summers ~ if you came to London in 2018 very hot 🥵 summer during June July and an August really hated because sun very strong wasn’t humid very dry and very hot and autumn was beautiful too ~ and look at summer of 2021 I think we had two very short heat waves but whole summer cool and pleasant and intense rainfalls plague the summer too

I live 10 miles from Leeds ....20 mins travel by train. A diverse ,lively city .there's plenty to do for all ages .The food and drink scene is second to none .Come and see for yourself - us " Yorkshire folk are very welcoming " 💋
