Fishing a Finesse Jig in December

  • For me historically, it’s that time of year where the bass will start to position more so on the bottom and the jig bite can be really fantastic. Today we test out that theory on a cold foggy winter day in California.

When you’ve got that many spots round, I’d switch to the 6” or the 68 special hudd. Little easier for them to smash and they will come unglued sometimes. Another great vid

WOW! What a great day out. It was nice to sit down after work & watch. I made it out yesterday temps never made it to the 60’s & was hazy all day. It was like a ghost town out at our local lake I threw a bunch of stuff at them & didn’t even get one bit. I’m glad I got to watch you have a great day out there. Beautiful fish very healthy looking. Thanks for the views.

New to bass fishing 1984, I pitch a jig next to a log and a fish bites, I set the hook and the fish jumped out of the water and over the log, easy 11 or 12 lb bass, then she opened her mouth and was gone. Some-times, when we set the hook on a big fish, we only pull the jig against the inside of its mouth before the hook can penetrate...

We love sideview and down imaging! The difference comes after seeing them on traditional sonar.. While old school you would traditionally blind cast at areas you think the fish are, livescope/ffs users are identifying the exact location and casting at the fish.

One thing I’ve realised with Livescope, is that the fish are following nearly every cast. Definitely following it down and looking at it, it’s the getting them to commit that is the challenge.

It's pretty typical this time of year really. Unless the waters rises drastically or turns muddy brown it's easy. The fish do the same thing on the same spots year after year. I hadn't been to berryessa in a long time. Went out around Thanksgiving and crushed them with the same techniques and spots I'd fish on other large lakes.
