Thanks for putting this all together for potential attendees. Hershey & Carlisle shows were both a part of my childhood and adolescence. You're exactly right...there's going to be rain...there will likely be mud. Hearing your account of the show takes me back. With everything you covered in mind, just about anyone is likely to have a positive experience at the show.

I went to Hershey last year for the first time and had a BLAST! We had just purchased a 1927 Buick a month or two before the show and we were blown away at how much cool stuff was at the show! This year we know more about the car and more focused one what parts we want and need! Great tips in the video and exactly on point! Bring lots of $$$$$$ and comfy shoes! Can't wait, we are going all but Friday this year..... Good luck at the show, we will stop by and say hello!

Matt--Great job! You were spot on with every tip. Bring a pen. Make sure your cell phone is completely charged and consider a portable charger. Most vendors will gladly hold an item you buy from them for a time if they are asked. Consider business cards to make contacts or leave a number. So true-many guys won't bring everything they have but they have it at home or know someone who has what you want. Don't forget to look inside a space or tent versus just walking by. Start the day with your hands empty, don't carry anything in since you will be carrying that all day. Buy retail items like chemicals and T-shirts last, on the way out, for the same reason.

Great tips Matt. I got into the Hershey game late, only been going for the last 8 years, but it is something I look forward to all year. I agree with everything you mentioned. Got to move fast, have quick eyes and if you see something you want, Buy It When You See It. I've had tons of "be backers" as I call them that him and haw and walk away saying "I'll be back." Well Arnold is the only one who comes back. All the be backers are never seen again. Can't wait until this year, I'll be there around noon on Tues with old Ford junk in OBC 41-43. Hope to catch up with you and Mike and grab one of those new hats. Also looking forward to picking up my fresh Kohler Kustom dropped Model A axle from Andy. Remember, "All Roads Lead to Hershey."

I have been vending and looking for parts for myself at Hershey since 1970 the year after my second tour in Vietnam. 2020 Hershey did not happen so this is a skip year. Hope we can get back on track for 2021. On reflection, I think I have experienced nearly all the items you pointed out. I couldn't have come up with a better list of suggestions. You hit on everything and did it well. Best advice was to "buy it" if the price is fair and reasonable. You're right. If after reflection, most likely it won't be there when you come back. The other really important ones was to bring plenty of cold hard cash. Rob the piggy bank before you start out so to speak. Driving that old Meat wagon over to Hershey must be a great adventure.
Your videos are well done and I have enjoyed viewing them. This instant one on a list of tips was the best thing for people to view in preparing for the Hershey experience. You have done a good and helpful service here. I hope to get over to your spaces and meet you this in 2021. Hoss's in Humelstown has a great buffet, also. If at the Carlisle meets then Hamilton Restaurant on High street a block from the courthouse and Hanover St. is excellent. Best wishes, Charlie in NC

I've went several, several times. All good tips. Can't go this year. When you spoke of the old stadium, I really started feeling bad because that is where I always stayed with "oz" OSBOURNE and his crew, which included dudes from that HAMB, and even guys featured on the Mad fabricators series, not to mention Speedy Bill from Speedway when he was still alive Always a good time, and a ton of parts. Love that place.

Next year we're going to Hershey I've been there once few times last time was in 1996. We're getting a almost brand new Mercedes Benz diesel van and so we're going to have to park it someplace I remember there's a campground behind the stadium that was many years ago there's probably still there but the other thing is that what a boat the truck stop on Highway 81 and 39 76 truck stop that's it is that still around?

Thanks for your list. I did not know about the Shady Maple. Thanks for that tip. Now, I am going to disagree with you a little. My first trip to Hershey was 1973. There were only 2 fields then. The Blue Field, which is now the amusement park and the White field or Airport across the highway. It took me all week to visit everyone of these swap spots. TWO FIELDS. Today Hershey is so massive no one can possibly do any justice to finding parts at every single swap spot. What I do now is to get the AACA catalog with all of the swappers listed by category and the maps of the fields. I study the vendors in my hotel room for my parts, e.g., Packard or Thunderbird or whatever. I then mark those swap spots on the maps. Then the next day I find those guys and see if they have what I want. A second thing that I have had great success with, is to make a sign that I hang over my shoulders, so that it shows front and back as I walk along. I list parts that I am looking for. It is amazing. A few years back I wanted parts for a '57 Dodge D500 Hemi engine. Couldn't find a thing, until a guy stopped me. He had bought a D500 new and had blown it up. He still had manifold and carbs, etc. But thanks for your videos. So nice to see that guys are doing their own work and getting dirt under their finger nails.

I went to the 1990 Hershey swap meet, it rained that year, I went into a vendor's tent not only to look around but to get out of the rain for a bit, they were selling auto literature. I was wearing a rain parka, shoes with mud over the top of them and there was a guy in the tent wearing a three piece suit completely dry no mud on his shoes. :-(

I saw yesterday on you tube "Hagerty" he goes around the country finding cool old stuff. Out in Mt. he came across a 39 ford truck chassis and from the video it looked real strait with motor and trans. Check it out you may be able to trade or buy the chassis from the gentleman? It was towards the end of the video. The name of the video was resurrecting's a Nash sedan delivery.

Do some really good videos I enjoy watching your videos even though I'm not into the street rods anymore I had a street rod for 40 years and I sold it 2 years ago. I became a cripple and so I needed a car with a wide door so I bought a 1984 Eldorado Biarritz convertible and done it's caused me a lot of grief over the last couple years but it seems to be a good car. I'm a member of the CLC and I want to get my car judged and the I think I need some parts for it. That's the reason why I thought do I go to Carlisle or do I go to Hershey? Thanks you did a great video I've got some information on here now and I will write a list thank you very much.

So we're thinking of going to Carlisle for fall follow me and then from there going to Hershey. Is there any campgrounds that are close to Carlisle for big like our- Mercedes-Benz? Do we have to register are electric scooters because I'm bringing my own two electric scooters. I'm from Canada.

Is there any Cadillac vendors that sell newer Cadillac items from saying 1979 through to 1990 Hershey? I am looking for a brand new red floor mat for my 84 Eldorado and I want the two rear ones too? You think it's possible to find it that they're or Carlisle?

Best places are the Stadium and the Giant Center which has clean bathrooms. There are port a potties scattered throughout but be aware some people rent their own for "private" space usage for the week and it may have a lock on it. Bring some handi wipes to clean your hands!
