I’m binging all your prep videos right now and they have been SO helpful for me!! I also am thankful you shared your 7yos age and that she’s in the early reader. Mine is the same age and is in early reader as well and sometimes I’m worried she’s behind a some in reading, even though I actually know she’s not. Super comforting and just overall a great video. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you! I was a ball of anxiety with my oldest (a struggling reader). I put way too much pressure on him and completely stressed him out (oh so many regrets), but I’ve definitely learned from the experience. Now I am more relaxed and don’t worry so much about what level my kids “should” be at but focus instead on little by little progress and building confidence and a love for learning!
Hi! We are new to homeschooling and to your channel! We are going to be adding in some Gather Round units this year as well! I love all your videos, and I love how you went child by child in this video. I really appreciate your prep videos; it really helped with my planning!!
Hello! I just found your channel and am thankful for this specific video since we are beginning our Gather Round journey with Oceans. I have printed the teacher's guide, but do not have a book list or supplies list anywhere. Has it been removed since this video aired?
Thank you for this. I've been on the fence with Gather Round for awhile, but my oldest is ready to do more now. I've been doing things with a more traditional curriculum, but would love to know more about how Gather Round stacks up next to say BJU press. Thoughts?
That’s difficult to answer because they are such different types of curriculum. Some kids and families thrive with traditional curriculum (like BJU) where as unit studies (like GR) come at things very differently. I would encourage you to look through or even try out one of the free sample weeks that Gather Round offers to see if it is a good fit for you and your kiddos.
I started oceans last week! It’s my first gather round unit. I have a 2 month old, 6 year and 9 year. We are using the same disk binding but with an instant ink subscription. For extras we are painting a zone “mural” that we will paste sea 🌊 animals on as we study them. I also did a sensory tray. I like the puzzle idea and I want to look at dollar stores for one. Have fun!
I'm excited to hear your feedback on the happy planner discs. I like the idea of them, but I'm not completely set on using them yet. We are rough on everything!
Sorry I forgot to put the link in the description. (It's there now whew). We bought this printer on sale last year and LOVE it amzn.to/2CtAyAp Our last brother printer lasted heavy use for 5 years! Definitely an investment, but so worth it!
We’re also doing the Oceans unit. Do you think the Watercolor with me would work ok with an artistic 16 year old who enjoys painting or is it too simplistic?
Wow love the Oceans unit study 🐋 Ezra’s activities are so neat. Saw 2 of your childhood books 📚🦑🐳 The beach trip with this study is awesome. Great video!

Wonderful review and great ideas and resources. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Currently sitting with my giant cup of coffee planning out our Oceans unit! This was so helpful. Thank you!
Yes coffee by the gallon please! Hope you all enjoy oceans
Love this so much! This is exactly the way I plan as well! I would love if you did one of these videos for every unit! ♥️
Thanks for the encouragement. We’re hoping to do videos like these for every unit we tackle this year.

Go to Gather 'Round's website and click on the "Unit Resources" tab. The Oceans book and supply lists should be there.

Wow a mural sounds so fun!

Yes that’s my concern too!
Great review. What is the printer that you mentioned in this video?

Everyday Homeschooler thank you so much

Yes I definitely think that book would work for a high schooler!
Wow love the Oceans unit study 🐋
