I just bought the new Bretonian the old world army set and it’s the first time I’ve ever built a miniature army. This 10 year old video was super helpful in figuring out what all the extra bits and bobs were for and what you do with them. Thanks person from the past!
That’s terrific! I hope all the little bits bring you as much joy to paint as they did with me. Enjoy the Bretonnian army! Some of my best memories were of painting the noble knights.
I LOVE Bretonnia... they are what got me into Warhammer back in 5th edition. During the weekend I'll post a short video of the Tae-style Ogres I'm working on. Looking forward to see your archers painted!
HOLY COW! I never thought about that! Thanks for the input! Now I wish I hadn't chopped the little flag off. Hahaha, I wish I hadn't used the flag standard now, it doesn't make sense that they'd have a giant standard flapping around where everyone around them could get arrows caught up in it!
Proppa peasants! I like that GW included stakes into the sprues! It was cool to see some terrain bits included in an infantry kit. I love the little dog. I'm going to call him Le Fou!
ha! I think the dog follows Friar fatty pants around hoping for scraps. The friar's range attacks are him throwing food at the enemy and the small, but vicious dog running forward and attacking.
i have painted these and they are so amusing. Propa peasants. Those stakes are a bugger to paint well despite being lumps of wood. The command sprue is the same as for men-at-arms The dog would be a hunting dog or trained to fetch arrows(heel fido)
Hi! have you seen my how to paint lizardmen Skink and Saurus Old Blood videos? I've tried to be as true to what I think the GW color scheme is with those two. Thanks for watching!
On an off-chance, do you happen to know the GW paint scheme for lizardmen, the classic ice blue style, ive spent ages googling it but ive only found alternatives. Also, great vid, good quality camera is a godsend.
Why would you want a little flag on your helmet? Think windsock ... if you're about to loose a big hail of arrows at your enemy, you want to have some idea as to wind direction and speed, so that you can cater ... not everyone would have a standard, which you probably wouldn't want flapping around in the face of the guys next to/behind you, when they're firing arrows around the place ...

I KNOW!!! Those extra bits are the best!
Such simple models, but with lotsa character and tons of painting opportunities ~
Thanks! I hadn't noticed when I first got into the hobby, how amazing these models are. So weak on the battlefield, but so characterful to paint!
Never heard of that before! Thanks for the info

Yes! Someone suggested that in my local store, but I haven't figured out a way to do it effectively yet!
Ahhh, thanks for clarifying! I love the extra bits on it.
Thanks for the lead! I'm going to check him out now!
No idea yet haha! Micro fibre wire, maybe, but I'm not really sure!
The bird head on a stick is probably what's called a 'Crow's Beak', it is a medieval hammer that is used to penetrate armor.

hahaha, its always fun going back to your first kits when you're more experienced as a painter =D

I like the idea of a cool standard top, don't know why they'd choose a bird head on a stick.

Bretonnia's a beautiful army! Where's that Ogre video! hahaha, hope you're able to join in the challenge!

hehehe a TREE stump!
Bowmen doesn't need to stay as close and have certain formations, since they won't fight
Out of curiosity, what do you plan on using for bowstrings?
GROSS! But totally true haha! I'm going to call him Handsome Dan.
Does the friar feed the dog or does the dog take food when the friar isn't looking?
Thought about using hair?
Sure Tae, sure...
Tae, a what stump? I'm not sure I heard you right. lol
yes the command sprue looks the same as M@a :D
The guy with the "Darkman mask" probably lost his nose to frostbite, leprosy, rats, or somesuch ...
Too bad not all of warhammer model kits came with extras like the Bretonnian Bowmen.
Pretty sure its just a standard top
