Someone with experience, nasty, has strikeout stuff, won’t give up the home run ball as much, an innings eater, he won the cy young, and he wasn’t even guilty for anything and was completely cleared. He also said he would play for LEAGUE MINIMUM! That’s insane for a player like him
What a bonus this power is considering Romero only hit 4 homers in 30 games as a senior in high school...It's still likely in the best interest of many of these players to be in a place where they are about a tough an out as you can get before we start moving them up levels...Let them be an impossible out and more well rounded...Looks good right now though.

When Romero was drafted there was talk he was better than Mayers. The Red Sox have an over abundance of middle infielders that could be good major leaguers. The problem is everyone is bloxked. The AAA roster is full. And with the relievers coming back they are going to need room for the ones sent down. The AAA roster has 4 catchers at least one needs to be moved for Teele to get sent to AAA. There is also a logjam of Middle infielders so unless Westbrook is released, Meyer will not be up either. On second base they have Valdez and Grissom if Grissom Stays in AAA. So for people to move to AA, Worcester needs to clear some spots. I am not sure when they would do this. From the teams stand point, you do not want to release players who can help your competition. and at the same time, you want to move up players who deserve it. It is a really good problem to have. None of the top 5 prospects are rule 5 eligible so none will probably make it to the major league level till next season. The AA roster is also at its max. So you cannot promote anyone else till you move some of those prospects. Now that probably will not happen till the off season maybe September 1st. I think Romero is stuck there because of numbers. Is there a racking of minor league systems after the trade deadline? I bet even with all the trades the red sox will be near the top. Also, if the Red Sox continue to produce 2 to 3 new rookies every year, other teams will want the red sox minor leaguers. Look at all the Rookies the red sox put out the last 2 years. They could have 3 plus next year too. That is really impressive.
