I've been repairing for over 20 years. It's running too slow. Tape deck usually needs new drive belts and a pinch roller to correct most playback issues. The belt(s) and pinch roller should be replaced every 15 years. Could also be the idiler located on the secondary circuit board. It's usually easy to adjust that to where it will play at normal speed.
The tape deck motor speed adjustment is off. Very simple to adjust back to normal. Take a jeweler’s flathead screwdriver and turn speed adjustment module a bit til it sounds normal. Belts are fine if the take up reel spins fine (which it seems to be there)
Usually when it’s bad drive belts there’s either bad warble/wow & flutter (stretched/warped belt, besides the dented pinch roller that is) or again, no movement or having issues moving on the take-up reel due to lack of torque on the belt.
@@SockDaBestMonki Best way to adjust the speed, if you don’t have a 3 kHz test tone tape and guitar tuner or tone analyzer app on your phone. Get a prerecorded music tape you know well or have a digital copy of. Play it in Teddy and adjust the speed control module until it sounds normal or it matches the digital recording again. After that, pop a Teddy tape in and it ‘should’ sound & animate the way it’s supposed to

My teddy Sushi, is a gen 2 teddy (shown in my vids) He has 4 cassetes: teddy ruxpins birthday (the one i use the most) the airship (corrupted and chewed, seeking replacement casette) all about bears (used once for testing) and the mudblubs (or whatever its called, ive never used it yet) My teddy himself's eyes dont work and his voice is a little warped, do you know why that is? Not to mention hes really temperamental I still absolutely love him and i doint care he doesn't work the best, in my eyes, hes beautiful
He needs a new drive belt for sure! Make that two drive belts....... Wow! You might need some new servo motors, sometimes they get messed up and move incorrectly, I bought a set Off of eBay and would not move correctly, The seller listed them as working, If I can recall. They would randomly buzz, or occasionally, move when they weren't even supposed to, or even move all the freaking time, Even when the toy Wasn't even talking, So I took some motors out of a non working one, and they worked flawlessly!
It actually turns out his drive belts are perfectly fine! I've taken him apart just the other day and the issue is really the speed adjustment/ variable resistor. The adjuster keyhole peice fell completely out of him when I removed the back assembly 😭 so I'll need to be looking for a replacement once I can get measurements lol. As for the servos, they work beautifully as far as I can tell! There doesn't seem to be any oxidation and they move very smoothly. I think the animation style in the airship paired with his slow playback made them look stiff lol. You can see them moving more normally at 9:25
If the servo motors are buzzing or twitching you may need to clean out the potentiometers! The guy in this video shows/explains how to clean them ua-cam.com/video/89DggHCyVVc/v-deo.html
BANDIT YOUR A FELLOW BLUEY FAN!! Im gettung a teddy ruxpin soon so im existed about that :D There are risks on buying them, they normally have issues but you gatta remember, hes 40 years old
Nice! I still have a generation one teddy ruxpin, But it has problems where the Head frame where the the jaws go in, is cracked and broken, And the top jaw won't make contact with the top servo, And the bottom part of the mouth is loose, I'm going to mark the servos as I take them out so I don't have to unplug everything, because every time I take the Freaking things back off, His sound goes very quiet, He actually has a lot of audio problems where the sound goes fuzzy, and I have to press the back on him very tight, or slam the Cassette door shut, I still have no idea what's wrong.
Broken head frames are always frustrating argh :(( I've had a couple where I've just held them together using duct tape haha. And gen 1 cassette doors are always super finicky.. my only advice would be try loosening/tightening the screw metal bracket at the back of the cassette player ? No clue what could be wrong with yours specifically but my other gen 1 was only playing when the door was open, and adjusting the screw fixed it. What happens is there's a switch inside the cassette player that's allows power to the player when the door is shut, but it gets misaligned in some way.. some of them have a spring that can be bent in and out of shape, but others don't. ua-cam.com/video/MgQ78PX4ink/v-deo.html this video explains how to adjust the spring, but mind didn't have one 😅 but tightening that metal bracket seemed to do the trick
@@electronicgore8646 I have since found a new one. At an antique store! he's also a Gen One, I got all of his Servos working and now I'm just working on restoring him completely, But unfortunately, his cassette player has started to get scratches in it, Partially due to the fact that the tiny metal piece that sits on the bottom of the tape, I don't know what you call it, Is always bent and I always have to bend it back and sometimes I have trouble putting the tape in because of it. And sometimes the tape fights me and because of it. It's left scratches in his tape deck, Ugghhhh! How do you get the scratches out question mark because my father tried getting the scratches out of my old one but kind of took away the silver color a bit, because he used a weird tool that Spun, I don't know what it was called because I'm an idiot...... The one that I have he sounds like he’s from the 80s and his original tape. He’s working super good but his motors in his face doesn’t look too good. I don’t think we can’t repair him.
Ok way off topic but like I skinned my broken FURBY and spun his motor to fix him, then his motor started smoking and it smelt really bad and I freaked out and rippled his batteries out, do u know what's wrong with him?

@@SockDaBestMonki Same solution I mentioned here for when it’s slow. Do exactly what I mentioned to fix the speed here. Hope this helps.
