His positioning is good and he seems to be be aware of his surroundings and looking for an escape plan. He could climb if he damage boosted more and learned the Super Jump technique as well which really does help. FeelBad that he's stuck because of throwers
Yeah I have the same I'm silver but I feel like I could be gold but I lose because of mostly throwers who leave the match and stuff and yeah like you said the super jump is really useful in comp
Amy de Boer I’ve played in gold, platinum, and diamond and it’s pretty much all the same. Throwers everywhere, people refusing to play shield, Moira’s that refuse to heal and go pure damage, etc. The only real difference that I’ve noticed is that as their rank increases, their egos do as well. Unless you think you could make it up to masters I’d recommend not getting your hopes up for climbing because it doesn’t get better.

DkHaku took me from season 4 to 10 to go from silver to high plat as a healer main 😬it’s easier after mid plat but it took a awful long time. Now I’m mid diamond and been having pretty good teammates recently. You can do it don’t give up on the game tho.
Welcome to playing Mercy more like haha. It’s VERY hard to carry as Mercy, especially since she doesn’t do the kind of healing that allows teammates to be bots and feed into tons of damage and since her pick potential is so low except for when in Valkyrie.
Man when i saw the over 20k healing i could feel the pain, i also like to play the healer and i just came to the conclusion that i have to play the dps to win no matter how much i heal dps players on my side just cannot win the game and i'm pretty sure dps gains better sr than a healer does that is why we have these in balanced games.

@@Tocinos A game can also be ruined with a win. I go into comp for a challenge and dare I say "competitive" teams. Steamrolling throwers is not my idea of fun.
and its not even that difficult to perform. I think I spent like 20 minutes practicing it and now I can whip it out in fights (not 100% success rate but still enough to get me out of clutch situations from time to time). Especailly having 900 hours on Mercy should be an indication to every intricacy of the hero being mastered. She as a hero is not hard to master, 100 hours should be plenty for everyone to reach this skill level. Everything else should go into pure game sense and team work skills etc.
This is a good idea but if it doesn't happen soon here is how i decide. I base it on comp and map... For maps with alot of highground... If your support... does your team have any vertical moving allies? if so... I'd so with a support that can also move vertically like bap, mercy. if not ana, moira. if your dps... i would pick a hero with vertical movement to get off angles like hanzo, junk, ashe, etc...(there's alot) if your tank... I would pick winston, d.va These are just the rules that i go by but rules are ment to be broken..im in low elo so no one knows how to take cover. so sometimes when i know that winston is the pick my team doesnt know how to stay alive without a shield. So its at your own discretion. For maps with less highground.... You can really play anyone... For maps with boop potential LUCIO, ORISA, PHARAH, ROADHOG (etc..)... you would be surprised how many people dont play these types of heroes on WELL... on WELL!! there is a giant hole just spartan there asses in there!! (sorry my toxic came out lol) I play support mainly in comp and how i choose my support is if on defense I always go mercy.. again im in low elo so mercy rez on defense can be soooooooo good and the sustain is pretty great too. On attack I go Ana because she can output alot of healing and she has a offensive ult soo attack duh lol BUUUT if the enemy team has massive flank and i cant seem to stay alive i swap to moira. If my team runs a lot of dps and i know they are gunna be scattered i run mercy. If my team is bunker comp I run mercy or bap. If you actually read this i hope it helps. I also hope for a video that you suggested to maybe update my rules a bit. If anyone has anything to add also is appreciated.
That question is a bit wrong let me clarify...there are optimal tanks per map but u may have people that dont play them the same goes for supports so u may do more harm on your team by playing the optimal picks....also ur dps can determine what is optimal, for example u have genji and tracer even if it is a rein zarya map like kings row it is better to have monkey dva with a zen to compliment ur dps....all in all work with what u play and what ur teamates play unless u are in like a group of flex people which is extremely rare
That kind of behaviour/attitude is part of why people say there is an ELO hell, Sty. Imagine getting teamed up with people like that over and over again, and then tell me "you just need to be good at your hero and you'll climb". That may have been the case at one point, but the lower levels have fewer players nowadays. You normally get teamed with throwers/leavers more often than "experts" seem to think. If you're on the losing team a majority of the time, it doesn't matter if you yourself are playing well. Hell, you could be playing at GM-level game as your character - if your team loses, it's still an SR drop. That's the problem with only having "win/lose" as a criterion for SR gain/loss. If there was a possibility to gain SR even at a loss, I think this game would have more players in competitive. You should gain more for a win, but it should be *_possible_* to at least not *_lose SR_* if you've played a great game but you still lost - even a big fat 0 would be better than a negative score after a crap game where you played well.
@@zenwickforever: I was low Masters last time I played comp. This isn't about me; I don't even play comp anymore. I have a bunch of friends and acquaintances who still play comp and are struggling with bad teams/throwers/leavers in Silver-Gold though. There is a lot more of that going on than when I was active in comp - I got out of there fairly easily, but guys I know that are pretty much around my level (custom games) are struggling to get anywhere. For every win they get, they get like 5-10 losses. When half your team throws/leaves, you yourself can play like a god and still lose - and then you get an SR loss.

The problem with gold is that for some reason, people just give up. They think it's a loss if you lose one fight and I don't understand why. Pros lose control all three time, but most toxic people don't care what the pros do, they don't watch videos like this because they think they are amazing.

They did this to make sure everyone load in at the same time, so people with a fast ssd can't just instalock every time and people with slower hard drives never get to pick at same time as everyone else. It's a cool feature, but yea for the first few games I too thought my game files were corrupted or some shit xD
Everyone who thinks elo hell isn't a thing should watch this video. This or something similar is happening in every second game in gold and silver. It is so annoying and the avoid list is way too short.
elo hell is in your brain nowhere else, what you experience in one game the enemy team you're up against will experience it in another game, if your better than the average guy in your rank you climb

Yup, that's not a problem with the game. That's the human factor. The game allows us to avoid these people (GIVE US MORE SLOTS, JEFF! ) afterwards and report them, but unfortunately there is no way of predicting that someone will be toxic before we get matched into a team with them...
@@cfclegend7509 they definitely can by making the report feature more aggressive. People purposely throwing the game should get banned for 24 hours first offense minimum. I mean the person is in game chat saying as much. People like this should be banned as fast as someone cheating imo. If people knew they could get banned they wouldn't mess about. A game like CSGO, if you do this enough you can get perma banned. Instead, throwers know they won't see consequences which is why throwing is a huge problem this game has. We still don't have enough "avoid" slots to make up for the lack of throwing bans either. I fill my avoids, and the very next game, find another thrower. They need to do something to fix this issue or at the very least do something to make people think twice about doing stuff like this

I once did an adventure and placed an new account in bronze here is what I discovered climbing up : Bronze / silver : they simply don't know they game , you see weird choice of characters and lot's torbs and bastions . didn't last there for too long a couple of games and game kicked me up . Gold : gold is a fun place and I noticed that they would try their best to play the perfect team comp , but'll you'll see a lot of players one tricking low skill base heroes like : JR , reaper .... . however they do notice if someone in their team is popping and switch to enable him/her. overall they seem to enjoy the game and play it for fun. However, the biggest problem I noticed is that they easily give up . If the enemy caps the second point on Hanamura for instance they assume the game is over and give up . Plat : OH MY , the OWL equivalent of ranked . every player here is a pro that is just " unlucky " . They believe hard counters is the only solution, if healer gets picked by a widow you'll no longer have a healer instead you'll get a Genji , who properly will die from the same widow . they switch to counter another player in the enemy rather than switching to counter the entire enemy composition . Lot's of DPS players that might flex for a small portion of the game and go back to dps when they die . In this rank I urge you to NOT play Zarya because if you hit the perfect grav you'll lose all your team Ults , everyone will hit Q. Diamond: this rank is quite unique. Players here are mechanically good players but they don't know how to play together . They love playing 2-2-2 and if they don't get that then it's an L . Nothing much I can say here as the games in this rank are so random , you'll get a T500 like game in one and a bronze game in the other . Master: I like to call this rank the cocky Diamonds they believe anyone below is trash , when in reality they are mechanically similar to diamonds. what you'll notice here is that you'll get more people who are willing to play their role and the games are less random. GM: never got to this rank really but i was close enough to play with and against them . I noticed here I see lot's of players triple stack and create their own team composition to accommodate their play style .for example you might see a DPS player , a mercy player pocketing their DPS and tank . and they don't care much about the rest as they will try to carry . Again never played with 6 GM's in one team to evaluate this rank, but what I can say here is any mistake you make it'll easy get punished. in the end rank doesn't matter , just play the game and have fun .
two days ago i got to Diamond (3077) with a 73% winrate with Lucio. Now my winrate dropped to 57% (2880). Got queued into a game with 4 dps that redused to Switch. Next Game another 4stack (3dps, 1 Hammond Main) in my team. I need more Player to avoid ffs. Anyways, i stopped queuing for a couple hours, my very First Game today was a quad dps game, im a onetricking lucio and got all the way to 3900 on my Main account. But i really feel all the plats and below complaining about the competitive Mode.
another big thing in plat and gold (especially on console!) : Be in the voicechat, theres No communication in those ranks, basically it is like whoever has the most people in the chat that are talking to each other are winning the game. I dont understand ehy people dont use the best way to communicate to each other. ( *Especially when you are in a f***ing group of two or three people.* )

super jump: crouch and ga at the same time, jump when you slow down at the end and get pushed up slightly, if you do it right you will press space right before you get slowed and conserve the forward momentum that was transferred vertically by the height difference of crouching.
What I do is whenever I get to a certain amount of positive difference between wins and losses (usually 2 or 3 for me) I just say stop playing and have break do some study for a couple of hours while listening to good music and then come back with a refreshed mind. Ever since I started doing that, I've had higher than 50% win ratios for the last 3 seasons and I've even gone up from bronze to silver. This is in the OCE server which is notorious for its countless smurfs and derankers.
This happens all the time on console. So many smurfs its ridiculous. All with the same attitude as those two. "Imagine being stuck in gold LOL" "imagine tryharding." Its ridiculous.
I quit because of that. Most games in gold are decided by which team has the throwers on it. "But there are 6 trolls on the enemy team and 5 on your team!" Great, so the enemy is 54% likely to have the troll and you're supposed to grind and grind and win 4 games more out of 100 by not being a thrower yourself.
I watch a lot of Animetic streams (a very good mercy player) and he/she (I don't know the gender xD) usually Valk when the party get a pick to secure the fight, it's kind of similar of what you say about mercy Ulti because in most case here the fight was going on and Valk gave you a safe advantage, but I won't say "just use it when you get it" because it won't revert a 4vs6, maybe a 5vs6 expecially if it allows you to ress. Tip1. Btw you can actually superjump and practice with it in QP, after a couple of match you will be fine with it, and trust me, at gold level making you able to reach highgrounds even if your party decide to play in the low one, is a huge help against nasty flankers. (To do it watch a Hoshizora or Animetic video, searching "superjump mercy") Tip2. Now that you love superjump and you mastered it, STOP DOING IT RANDOMLY xD It will feed good snipers, it's how Sty said, because you can Guardian Angel you shouldn't always do it, tha same is for superjump, when you learn it it seems you will get a new ability for free, and trust me, it's not hard to do it.

score screen is also useful to know if the enemy has changed heroes at any point and time, it's not hidden except the 15 seconds after the first round starts, then it's unlocked for the entire game (at 16:16 he means Valkyrie, Guardian Angel is the Shift ability that launches yourself towards an allied player) [19:01 what the title entails]
Superjump is still there, I use it all the time. Very useful when they dont have snipers, to escape an ulting genji or just so they can't target you that easily

I haven't played Overwatch in almost a year, I was thinking about getting it again for my new PC. All I remember from Overwatch is blood boiling flamers, throwers, games being completely determined by whether or not your team is even slightly willing to cooperate or switch. Tanks blaming DPS, DPS blaming healers, that kind of thing. I'll take it this hasn't changed and has actually gotten worse? Is there any multiplayer FPS on the entire market that isn't ADS based that isn't completely ruined by the community or devs? Had to quit CSGO for similar reasons.
I was playing on a smurf with my friend in gold and what I noticed is that players trickle in a lot. They also don't know when to be aggressive and when to play passive. And most team fights one person dies before it even begans
21:40 Yes, GA Jumping generally refers to the horizontal Speed (GA then jump to person while HOLDING shift (can't have toggle GA), this can also be used for verticle height if the hero is on a higher level than you (ie, high ground, payload). While Superjump refers to Verticle distance and is done by being away from the target, GA + crouch (AT THE SAME TIME) while being on the same level as them and then jumping once you get close to them like GA Jumping.

21:39 It's the superjump and you do it by pressing crouch and GA at the same time, and when you see a dip when you're really close to your target press jump. It's a bit different on console but it's a neat little trick that's really effective against flankers and close ranged characters. And, to be clear, it's still in game.
Unless your blatantly throwing, you wont get banned on console. I once had a mercy who did nothing but try to resurrect in a terrible situation to look like they were trying to help but would never heal or damage boost. I reported them, every game I played with them and never got the message. I have reported every blatant thrower in my 2 years of playing Overwatch on console and maybe got 3 messages of something actually being done

super jump is actually very important and increases the skill ceiling of mercy by alot, i mean im in masters and dealing with tracer is not a problem anymore, since i superjump on the highground, or combining superjump with rez is also a nice technique
Yeah. The Mercy super jump (the one where you go vertically into the air) is still possible. You need to press crouch and 1 nanosecond later press guardian angel for it to work. If you press crouch and guardian angel at the same time it won’t work. If you press guardian angel to late after crouch it won’t work. There’s an incredibly short window that you need to press guardian angel in after crouch for it to work. It requires exact timing. Once you get to your guardian angel target you just press jump and you go straight up into the air. That last part doesn’t need good timing, it’s easy to pull off. You can tell when you’ve got the critical crouch - guardian angel part right because she’ll glide much lower to the ground then she normally does.
@@XgamerdaveX for pc if your crouch and GA are on the same device (keyboard or mouse) than they can be pressed at the exact same time and really no timing is needed so I have my crouch and GA on my mouse side buttons. i tried everything on console but the timing must be perfect! P.S. If you have crouch on the mouse and GA on the keyboard than timing does matter.
Francesca DeMarinis I have crouch bound to R3 for all heroes and for mercy i have guardian angel on default L1. I’ve found when I try to press them at the same time the super jump fails - the crouch gliding across the floor doesn’t happen. But if I press crouch then literally straight away press guardian angel (so almost at the same time but not quite) it works.
What Sty says about a vertical movement is called super jump and its really useful. You have to press GA and crouch exactly at the same time, keep the GA button pressed (you can hold crouch or not, it doesnt matter) and when you get close to your targeted ally Mercy will slide a little, right then hold spacebar. If you do it a bit eralier you can fly diagonally instead. Tip:do not use it very often if they have a good widow, ashe,... as the animation is predictable and you will get shot.
Super jump -> Crouch+GA at the same time, and Jump when Mercy does a little dip in flight near the GA target. If it's not working, try putting crouch and GA key binds on the same device to ensure timing. Warning: May be more dangerous than regular GA or bunny hop depending on enemy comp. (Snipers.)

Finally someone who coaches mercy and talks about the ga mechanics. Good job sty, surprisingly almost no one does it. Also the super jump is still possible and I believe at this point it can be consideted a basic technique that every mercy player who wants to get better just has to know. It's just so usefull, especially if you master it.
The biggest thing that Valkyrie does for you vs. a Genji ult is the one thing they didn't do: It allows you to gain height so Genji can't kill you while you're healing unless he uses a dash. In most cases you can get high enough his dash can't even reach you. This wasn't mentioned in the video but it's a good way to use Valk. The Mercy high jump is still possible and useful for getting into defensive positions.
The mercy jump is Ctrl+Shift (at the same time) and when guardian angel ends you must just press space (but you have to hold ctrl during the whole guardian angel)

Every person that tries to throw on me gets instantly reported and ill try my hardest to even more to contribute to my team though I much highly rather prefer to play for the enjoyment not the stinky sweatyness of toxicly competitive people I get qeued with. Honestly, I don’t know how you can be surprised to see this duo act the way they do. It has been discussed a lot. From my experience, this kind of things happen every 3-4 games in high plat and below. Add to that people who leave every 3 or so games, people who refuse to work as a team, people who troll in voice chat, people who are toxic in chat, people who literally stop mid fight to type something, people who go afk mid match, people who are forced to play characters/roles they’ve never attempted, skill of everyone and, in some cases, tiredness after a long day, no voice comms or someone’s dog alway barking, people who can not grind for tens/hundreds of hours just to overcome and offset said issues and you get a slight glimpse into why people complain about Elo hell.
The mercy vertical jump or "super" jump that's what I call it. It's still a thing. I do it through out most of my games to get high ground and to rez so it's harder for the enemies to shoot me.
I’d say Lucio is easier to one trick than Zen. With Dive, you can keep up with your team and top people off while disrupting the enemies’ position. With anti Dive, you are why the McCree and other supports can keep up with the Dive tanks. With Bunker, you have the defensive ult and can back out of EMPs to come in and save when they try to ult combo. Goats is obvious, and in a messy teamfight, you can be slippery as FUCK - wallriding across the top of a point, providing over 250 healing per second and get a shitload of Ult charge for multiple sound barriers. The only comps Lucio doesn’t REALLY work for are double sniper and 3-4 DPS comps.
Super jump is absolutely useful in any rank! Every mercy player should know how to do it. It increases your mobility and survivability and allows you to take advantageous positions that you would otherwise need a teammate to fly to. It’s easy to do (crouch+GA, then jump just before you arrive @target). Just need to be careful and use it much more sparingly if the enemy team has hitscan.
One thing you probably should mention to this mercy is that she over flies her GA, she needs to learn to cancel GA at the right time so she doesn't fly ahead of her ally and straight into the enemy or into open line of fire. This comes in handy to make risky dives to save teammates while not putting yourself in danger.
Really good solid Mercy play, but it is true, they probably have to switch to other supports and just hard carry more in order to get out of their rank. Hope they'll make it soon! C:

But I can't really hear the voice chat of the team. You go quite a few times so we can try to hear them talk, but even then I can't make it out. Maybe it is a problem on the end of the person who sent you the videofile, i don't know. But I thought you should know, we can't really make out the voice chat audio very clearly.
21:48 You need hold guardian angel on for it to work, not the default toggle toggle. Basically you get as close to an ally as you can while still being able to guardian angel, then you press crouch and guardian angel simultaneously and hold them both until the point where you start to slow down from reaching your target, then you press jump and release crouch and guardian angel, and if you time it right, you'll go up into the air. It takes practice and the height varies based on jump timing and how close you were to the ally when you pressed guardian angel. It's very difficult to do on a moving ally, you're much better trying it on someone standing still.
Yes you can still do the Mercy superjump. It's easier than you think. You basically have to hit Guardian Angel and Crouch at the same time. Then you will fly lower to the ground. Then when you are almost at the target, press jump. Similar timing to pressing jump to fly past an ally.
17:50, so I think he could've just GA to the Moira, and before even landing, canceling it with the Ult, and that would make his GA's cooldown reset and he could fly back to the Dva since the Genji had already used his dash, maybe? Idk
At 26:33 the mei put deliberately a wall between the hammond and his escape route. Im a hammond main and this happend in this elo. That mei is a trower and make it impossible for the tanks to play. A mei who is not trowing would put that wall down if he saw the hammond was closed off. Block the escape from hammond and the hammond will die 90% of the time.
This literally happens ALL THE TIME. People throw aggressively which causes the team to tilt. Then they split from each other and you get caught in the middle. Sorry man. Feels bad.
I love how Sty is talking about ult tracking, even if you do this gold is such a .... hole that it becomes demotivating to play because it isnt just solo performance but team performance that determines if you win or lose
Everyone always says to work on yourself and you will climb, but when i watch guide videos and people talking about skill level in every rank, i apparently should be high platinum minimum. But its impossible to win when our moira keeps trying to 1v6, and our ashe is constantly staggered, while the dps arent getting picks or even attempting to peel. Not to mention how many times i watch a Reinhardt initiate a team fight when we only have 3 or 4 people actually ready
The mercy jump is still very possible, and It makes it easy to get up to a safe spot, or get away from enemies. They don't really expect a super jump. I think he was doing pretty pretty OK in this game play and I think he just doesn't really dmg boost too often.
The Mercy super jump you mention is not even that difficult. You press GA and crouch at the same time, and when the GA animation is ending, hit jump and you launch into the air. PS. I'm pretty sure you see super jump as a bug but it is clearly a feature so of course it is still possible to do.
every time I look around for teammates to heal I always die to the enemy team from whoever I was healing running away with their speediness in less than a second so I have to have a tea party with the enemy team and my little pew pew gun
some kindly suggestions from another support main: since mercy doesn't need to face the person you are healing all the time and that causes tunnel vision sometimes, you should force yourself to look around more. and COMMUNICATION is a key to climb especially as a support main like Mercy. much more important than u think. cuz your healing is rather easier than others like ana, you should look around and always know the positions and health of your teammates and be alerted about possible enemy flank and know who is ur best GA target brings up the score screen more often and ult track, if u can call out when your teammates are standing too closely while enemy reaper has his ult ready. that could be huge help. or remind your pharah of enemy mccree and soldier ults if she's flying too high in the air not corner cutting etc.

His positioning is good and he seems to be be aware of his surroundings and looking for an escape plan. He could climb if he damage boosted more and learned the Super Jump technique as well which really does help. FeelBad that he's stuck because of throwers

Amy de Boer I’ve played in gold, platinum, and diamond and it’s pretty much all the same. Throwers everywhere, people refusing to play shield, Moira’s that refuse to heal and go pure damage, etc. The only real difference that I’ve noticed is that as their rank increases, their egos do as well. Unless you think you could make it up to masters I’d recommend not getting your hopes up for climbing because it doesn’t get better.

DkHaku took me from season 4 to 10 to go from silver to high plat as a healer main 😬it’s easier after mid plat but it took a awful long time. Now I’m mid diamond and been having pretty good teammates recently. You can do it don’t give up on the game tho.
Welcome to playing Mercy more like haha. It’s VERY hard to carry as Mercy, especially since she doesn’t do the kind of healing that allows teammates to be bots and feed into tons of damage and since her pick potential is so low except for when in Valkyrie.

Yep It's like having a pharah basically or a hard to use Winston jump.
and its not even that difficult to perform. I think I spent like 20 minutes practicing it and now I can whip it out in fights (not 100% success rate but still enough to get me out of clutch situations from time to time). Especailly having 900 hours on Mercy should be an indication to every intricacy of the hero being mastered. She as a hero is not hard to master, 100 hours should be plenty for everyone to reach this skill level. Everything else should go into pure game sense and team work skills etc.

These are just the rules that i go by but rules are ment to be broken..im in low elo so no one knows how to take cover. so sometimes when i know that winston is the pick my team doesnt know how to stay alive without a shield. So its at your own discretion.

LUCIO, ORISA, PHARAH, ROADHOG (etc..)... you would be surprised how many people dont play these types of heroes on WELL... on WELL!! there is a giant hole just spartan there asses in there!! (sorry my toxic came out lol)
I play support mainly in comp and how i choose my support is
if on defense I always go mercy.. again im in low elo so mercy rez on defense can be soooooooo good and the sustain is pretty great too.
On attack I go Ana because she can output alot of healing and she has a offensive ult soo attack duh lol
BUUUT if the enemy team has massive flank and i cant seem to stay alive i swap to moira. If my team runs a lot of dps and i know they are gunna be scattered i run mercy. If my team is bunker comp I run mercy or bap.

That question is a bit wrong let me clarify...there are optimal tanks per map but u may have people that dont play them the same goes for supports so u may do more harm on your team by playing the optimal picks....also ur dps can determine what is optimal, for example u have genji and tracer even if it is a rein zarya map like kings row it is better to have monkey dva with a zen to compliment ur dps....all in all work with what u play and what ur teamates play unless u are in like a group of flex people which is extremely rare

That kind of behaviour/attitude is part of why people say there is an ELO hell, Sty.
Imagine getting teamed up with people like that over and over again, and then tell me "you just need to be good at your hero and you'll climb".
That may have been the case at one point, but the lower levels have fewer players nowadays. You normally get teamed with throwers/leavers more often than "experts" seem to think. If you're on the losing team a majority of the time, it doesn't matter if you yourself are playing well.
Hell, you could be playing at GM-level game as your character - if your team loses, it's still an SR drop. That's the problem with only having "win/lose" as a criterion for SR gain/loss. If there was a possibility to gain SR even at a loss, I think this game would have more players in competitive. You should gain more for a win, but it should be *_possible_* to at least not *_lose SR_* if you've played a great game but you still lost - even a big fat 0 would be better than a negative score after a crap game where you played well.

I have a bunch of friends and acquaintances who still play comp and are struggling with bad teams/throwers/leavers in Silver-Gold though. There is a lot more of that going on than when I was active in comp - I got out of there fairly easily, but guys I know that are pretty much around my level (custom games) are struggling to get anywhere. For every win they get, they get like 5-10 losses. When half your team throws/leaves, you yourself can play like a god and still lose - and then you get an SR loss.

The problem with gold is that for some reason, people just give up. They think it's a loss if you lose one fight and I don't understand why. Pros lose control all three time, but most toxic people don't care what the pros do, they don't watch videos like this because they think they are amazing.

They did this to make sure everyone load in at the same time, so people with a fast ssd can't just instalock every time and people with slower hard drives never get to pick at same time as everyone else. I mean the person is in game chat saying as much. People like this should be banned as fast as someone cheating imo. If people knew they could get banned they wouldn't mess about. A game like CSGO, if you do this enough you can get perma banned. Instead, throwers know they won't see consequences which is why throwing is a huge problem this game has. We still don't have enough "avoid" slots to make up for the lack of throwing bans either. I fill my avoids, and the very next game, find another thrower. They need to do something to fix this issue or at the very least do something to make people think twice about doing stuff like this

I once did an adventure and placed an new account in bronze here is what I discovered climbing up :
Bronze / silver : they simply don't know they game , you see weird choice of characters and lot's torbs and bastions . didn't last there for too long a couple of games and game kicked me up .
Gold : gold is a fun place and I noticed that they would try their best to play the perfect team comp , but'll you'll see a lot of players one tricking low skill base heroes like : JR , reaper .... . however they do notice if someone in their team is popping and switch to enable him/her. overall they seem to enjoy the game and play it for fun.
However, the biggest problem I noticed is that they easily give up . If the enemy caps the second point on Hanamura for instance they assume the game is over and give up .
Plat : OH MY , the OWL equivalent of ranked . every player here is a pro that is just " unlucky " . They believe hard counters is the only solution, if healer gets picked by a widow you'll no longer have a healer instead you'll get a Genji , who properly will die from the same widow . they switch to counter another player in the enemy rather than switching to counter the entire enemy composition . Lot's of DPS players that might flex for a small portion of the game and go back to dps when they die . In this rank I urge you to NOT play Zarya because if you hit the perfect grav you'll lose all your team Ults , everyone will hit Q.
Diamond: this rank is quite unique. Players here are mechanically good players but they don't know how to play together . They love playing 2-2-2 and if they don't get that then it's an L . Nothing much I can say here as the games in this rank are so random , you'll get a T500 like game in one and a bronze game in the other .
Master: I like to call this rank the cocky Diamonds they believe anyone below is trash , when in reality they are mechanically similar to diamonds. what you'll notice here is that you'll get more people who are willing to play their role and the games are less random.
GM: never got to this rank really but i was close enough to play with and against them . I noticed here I see lot's of players triple stack and create their own team composition to accommodate their
play style .for example you might see a DPS player , a mercy player pocketing their DPS and tank . and they don't care much about the rest as they will try to carry . Again never played with 6 GM's in one team to evaluate this rank, but what I can say here is any mistake you make it'll easy get punished.
in the end rank doesn't matter , just play the game and have fun .
two days ago i got to Diamond (3077) with a 73% winrate with Lucio. Now my winrate dropped to 57% (2880). Got queued into a game with 4 dps that redused to Switch. Next Game another 4stack (3dps, 1 Hammond Main) in my team. I need more Player to avoid ffs. Anyways, i stopped queuing for a couple hours, my very First Game today was a quad dps game, im a onetricking lucio and got all the way to 3900 on my Main account. But i really feel all the plats and below complaining about the competitive Mode.
another big thing in plat and gold (especially on console!) : Be in the voicechat, theres No communication in those ranks, basically it is like whoever has the most people in the chat that are talking to each other are winning the game. I dont understand ehy people dont use the best way to communicate to each other. ( *Especially when you are in a f***ing group of two or three people.* )

What I do is whenever I get to a certain amount of positive difference between wins and losses (usually 2 or 3 for me) I just say stop playing and have break do some study for a couple of hours while listening to good music and then come back with a refreshed mind. Ever since I started doing that, I've had higher than 50% win ratios for the last 3 seasons and I've even gone up from bronze to silver. This is in the OCE server which is notorious for its countless smurfs and derankers.
This happens all the time on console. So many smurfs its ridiculous. All with the same attitude as those two. "Imagine being stuck in gold LOL" "imagine tryharding." Its ridiculous.

I quit because of that. Most games in gold are decided by which team has the throwers on it. "But there are 6 trolls on the enemy team and 5 on your team!" Great, so the enemy is 54% likely to have the troll and you're supposed to grind and grind and win 4 games more out of 100 by not being a thrower yourself.
21:55 As a Bronze Mercy I find Superjump very useful and basically mandatory, because you can't rely on your teammates to protect you. They never do.

I watch a lot of Animetic streams (a very good mercy player) and he/she (I don't know the gender xD) usually Valk when the party get a pick to secure the fight, it's kind of similar of what you say about mercy Ulti because in most case here the fight was going on and Valk gave you a safe advantage, but I won't say "just use it when you get it" because it won't revert a 4vs6, maybe a 5vs6 expecially if it allows you to ress.
Tip1. Btw you can actually superjump and practice with it in QP, after a couple of match you will be fine with it, and trust me, at gold level making you able to reach highgrounds even if your party decide to play in the low one, is a huge help against nasty flankers. (To do it watch a Hoshizora or Animetic video, searching "superjump mercy")
Tip2. Now that you love superjump and you mastered it, STOP DOING IT RANDOMLY xD
It will feed good snipers, it's how Sty said, because you can Guardian Angel you shouldn't always do it, tha same is for superjump, when you learn it it seems you will get a new ability for free, and trust me, it's not hard to do it.

I haven't played Overwatch in almost a year, I was thinking about getting it again for my new PC. All I remember from Overwatch is blood boiling flamers, throwers, games being completely determined by whether or not your team is even slightly willing to cooperate or switch. Tanks blaming DPS, DPS blaming healers, that kind of thing. I'll take it this hasn't changed and has actually gotten worse? Is there any multiplayer FPS on the entire market that isn't ADS based that isn't completely ruined by the community or devs? Had to quit CSGO for similar reasons.

I was playing on a smurf with my friend in gold and what I noticed is that players trickle in a lot. They also don't know when to be aggressive and when to play passive. And most team fights one person dies before it even begans
21:40 Yes, GA Jumping generally refers to the horizontal Speed (GA then jump to person while HOLDING shift (can't have toggle GA), this can also be used for verticle height if the hero is on a higher level than you (ie, high ground, payload).
While Superjump refers to Verticle distance and is done by being away from the target, GA + crouch (AT THE SAME TIME) while being on the same level as them and then jumping once you get close to them like GA Jumping.

chloroform no developer cares about console. Plenty of people get reported in rainbow too and afaik nobody gets banned.
I've had responses to reports for console. Not very frequent though.
Unless your blatantly throwing, you wont get banned on console. I once had a mercy who did nothing but try to resurrect in a terrible situation to look like they were trying to help but would never heal or damage boost. I reported them, every game I played with them and never got the message.
I have reported every blatant thrower in my 2 years of playing Overwatch on console and maybe got 3 messages of something actually being done

super jump is actually very important and increases the skill ceiling of mercy by alot, i mean im in masters and dealing with tracer is not a problem anymore, since i superjump on the highground, or combining superjump with rez is also a nice technique

Yeah. The Mercy super jump (the one where you go vertically into the air) is still possible. You need to press crouch and 1 nanosecond later press guardian angel for it to work. If you press crouch and guardian angel at the same time it won’t work. If you press guardian angel to late after crouch it won’t work. There’s an incredibly short window that you need to press guardian angel in after crouch for it to work. It requires exact timing. Once you get to your guardian angel target you just press jump and you go straight up into the air. That last part doesn’t need good timing, it’s easy to pull off.
You can tell when you’ve got the critical crouch - guardian angel part right because she’ll glide much lower to the ground then she normally does.
Do you play on console or pc? Cause on pc there is a trick to get it to work every time.

@@XgamerdaveX for pc if your crouch and GA are on the same device (keyboard or mouse) than they can be pressed at the exact same time and really no timing is needed so I have my crouch and GA on my mouse side buttons. i tried everything on console but the timing must be perfect!
P.S. If you have crouch on the mouse and GA on the keyboard than timing does matter.
Francesca DeMarinis I have crouch bound to R3 for all heroes and for mercy i have guardian angel on default L1. I’ve found when I try to press them at the same time the super jump fails - the crouch gliding across the floor doesn’t happen. But if I press crouch then literally straight away press guardian angel (so almost at the same time but not quite) it works.

What Sty says about a vertical movement is called super jump and its really useful. You have to press GA and crouch exactly at the same time, keep the GA button pressed (you can hold crouch or not, it doesnt matter) and when you get close to your targeted ally Mercy will slide a little, right then hold spacebar. If you do it a bit eralier you can fly diagonally instead.
Tip:do not use it very often if they have a good widow, ashe,... as the animation is predictable and you will get shot.

Super jump -> Crouch+GA at the same time, and Jump when Mercy does a little dip in flight near the GA target.
If it's not working, try putting crouch and GA key binds on the same device to ensure timing.
Warning: May be more dangerous than regular GA or bunny hop depending on enemy comp. (Snipers.)

Finally someone who coaches mercy and talks about the ga mechanics. Good job sty, surprisingly almost no one does it. Also the super jump is still possible and I believe at this point it can be consideted a basic technique that every mercy player who wants to get better just has to know. It's just so usefull, especially if you master it.

The biggest thing that Valkyrie does for you vs. a Genji ult is the one thing they didn't do: It allows you to gain height so Genji can't kill you while you're healing unless he uses a dash. In most cases you can get high enough his dash can't even reach you. This wasn't mentioned in the video but it's a good way to use Valk. The Mercy high jump is still possible and useful for getting into defensive positions.

The mercy jump is Ctrl+Shift (at the same time) and when guardian angel ends you must just press space (but you have to hold ctrl during the whole guardian angel)

Every person that tries to throw on me gets instantly reported and ill try my hardest to even more to contribute to my team though I much highly rather prefer to play for the enjoyment not the stinky sweatyness of toxicly competitive people I get qeued with. Honestly, I don’t know how you can be surprised to see this duo act the way they do. It has been discussed a lot. From my experience, this kind of things happen every 3-4 games in high plat and below. Add to that people who leave every 3 or so games, people who refuse to work as a team, people who troll in voice chat, people who are toxic in chat, people who literally stop mid fight to type something, people who go afk mid match, people who are forced to play characters/roles they’ve never attempted, skill of everyone and, in some cases, tiredness after a long day, no voice comms or someone’s dog alway barking, people who can not grind for tens/hundreds of hours just to overcome and offset said issues and you get a slight glimpse into why people complain about Elo hell.
Super jumps can determine if you survive for a push or not. They are important for any Mercy main to know, not in just T500.
The Mercy needed to damage boost a bit more but other than that they played well.

The mercy vertical jump or "super" jump that's what I call it. It's still a thing. I do it through out most of my games to get high ground and to rez so it's harder for the enemies to shoot me.
I’d say Lucio is easier to one trick than Zen. With Dive, you can keep up with your team and top people off while disrupting the enemies’ position. With anti Dive, you are why the McCree and other supports can keep up with the Dive tanks. With Bunker, you have the defensive ult and can back out of EMPs to come in and save when they try to ult combo. Goats is obvious, and in a messy teamfight, you can be slippery as FUCK - wallriding across the top of a point, providing over 250 healing per second and get a shitload of Ult charge for multiple sound barriers. The only comps Lucio doesn’t REALLY work for are double sniper and 3-4 DPS comps.
Super jump is absolutely useful in any rank! Every mercy player should know how to do it. It increases your mobility and survivability and allows you to take advantageous positions that you would otherwise need a teammate to fly to. It’s easy to do (crouch+GA, then jump just before you arrive @target). Just need to be careful and use it much more sparingly if the enemy team has hitscan.
One thing you probably should mention to this mercy is that she over flies her GA, she needs to learn to cancel GA at the right time so she doesn't fly ahead of her ally and straight into the enemy or into open line of fire. This comes in handy to make risky dives to save teammates while not putting yourself in danger.
Really good solid Mercy play, but it is true, they probably have to switch to other supports and just hard carry more in order to get out of their rank. Hope they'll make it soon! C:

But I can't really hear the voice chat of the team. You go quite a few times so we can try to hear them talk, but even then I can't make it out. Maybe it is a problem on the end of the person who sent you the videofile, i don't know. But I thought you should know, we can't really make out the voice chat audio very clearly.

21:48 You need hold guardian angel on for it to work, not the default toggle toggle. Basically you get as close to an ally as you can while still being able to guardian angel, then you press crouch and guardian angel simultaneously and hold them both until the point where you start to slow down from reaching your target, then you press jump and release crouch and guardian angel, and if you time it right, you'll go up into the air. It takes practice and the height varies based on jump timing and how close you were to the ally when you pressed guardian angel. It's very difficult to do on a moving ally, you're much better trying it on someone standing still.

Yes you can still do the Mercy superjump. It's easier than you think. You basically have to hit Guardian Angel and Crouch at the same time. Then you will fly lower to the ground. Then when you are almost at the target, press jump. Similar timing to pressing jump to fly past an ally.
17:50, so I think he could've just GA to the Moira, and before even landing, canceling it with the Ult, and that would make his GA's cooldown reset and he could fly back to the Dva since the Genji had already used his dash, maybe? Idk
At 26:33 the mei put deliberately a wall between the hammond and his escape route. Im a hammond main and this happend in this elo. That mei is a trower and make it impossible for the tanks to play. A mei who is not trowing would put that wall down if he saw the hammond was closed off. Block the escape from hammond and the hammond will die 90% of the time.
superjump and jumping for momentum is something i've done as mercy even when i was in super low ranks. it's very helpful :')
This literally happens ALL THE TIME. People throw aggressively which causes the team to tilt. Then they split from each other and you get caught in the middle. Sorry man. Feels bad.
I love how Sty is talking about ult tracking, even if you do this gold is such a .... hole that it becomes demotivating to play because it isnt just solo performance but team performance that determines if you win or lose
Everyone always says to work on yourself and you will climb, but when i watch guide videos and people talking about skill level in every rank, i apparently should be high platinum minimum. But its impossible to win when our moira keeps trying to 1v6, and our ashe is constantly staggered, while the dps arent getting picks or even attempting to peel. Not to mention how many times i watch a Reinhardt initiate a team fight when we only have 3 or 4 people actually ready
The mercy jump is still very possible, and It makes it easy to get up to a safe spot, or get away from enemies. They don't really expect a super jump. I think he was doing pretty pretty OK in this game play and I think he just doesn't really dmg boost too often.

The Mercy super jump you mention is not even that difficult. You press GA and crouch at the same time, and when the GA animation is ending, hit jump and you launch into the air. PS. I'm pretty sure you see super jump as a bug but it is clearly a feature so of course it is still possible to do.
every time I look around for teammates to heal I always die to the enemy team from whoever I was healing running away with their speediness in less than a second so I have to have a tea party with the enemy team and my little pew pew gun
some kindly suggestions from another support main:
since mercy doesn't need to face the person you are healing all the time and that causes tunnel vision sometimes, you should force yourself to look around more.
and COMMUNICATION is a key to climb especially as a support main like Mercy. much more important than u think.
cuz your healing is rather easier than others like ana, you should look around and always know the positions and health of your teammates and be alerted about possible enemy flank and know who is ur best GA target
brings up the score screen more often and ult track, if u can call out when your teammates are standing too closely while enemy reaper has his ult ready. that could be huge help. or remind your pharah of enemy mccree and soldier ults if she's flying too high in the air not corner cutting
etc.
