I’m not a fan of the design of your guitar, but that’s not relevant to my comments, just personal preference. However, the quality of your workmanship is simply outstanding! The finish is exquisite, and the materials used beautiful. What ever the results of the competition you are a very serious, highly skilled luthier , deserving a gold medal in any arena. Magnificent.
Hi Alan, Thank you very much for your honest opinion and kind words. Luckily for the world tastes differ, which is a good thing. I think you might like my single cut model instead.
The competition may ultimately been won by something more edgy, Daniel, but I doubt there will be any entries that are better built than yours. Stunning work, once again.
Hi Angus, Thank you very much! I'm afraid you're right. It's often the case with these kind of competitions. If only the viewers and the judges were able to actually see and touch the instruments. If I make it to the top ten by popular vote I'm more than happy. I'm so curious about how my build would be judged by the 'experts'.

True craftsmanship mate. With the finish on it it almost looks edible like a piece of caramel and chocolate candy. I think I learned something about the finishing too. what you are calling light coats looked heavy to me so that makes my finishing coats micro thin. I still have more to do so I may go a touch heavier then I have been as its not shining up like I see others with as many coats. Probably because I put too little on.
Hi Borgonian Evolution, Thank you very much. That was exactly how I intended it to look. The heaviness of the coats is something you have to develop a feel for and is different with every guitar as the wood soaks up the finish at different rates. I put on just enough for the oil to leave a very thin film on top of the wood to wipe off. Also the type of oil play a huge part in how much you can put on. A penetrating oil can be applied much heavier that a building oil for example. I usually start on the heavy side and with each coat I apply less as the wood gets saturated.
I was privileged to visit your workshop on an earlier occasion. Just want to tell the world Daniël, that your builds not only look astonishing with the hard wax/oil finish, but also feel very comfortable. Keep up the good work, hope you win the competition.
Superb instrument. Stunning ! Congratulations on your mastery of the manufacturing process and your knowledge of wood (I don't care about competition though, to me you're a winner). I can't wait to hear it!
Hi Eric, Although I don't consider myself a master, thank you very much for the compliments. To hear it you have to be a little more patient I'm afraid. There's 2 more episodes to go, but I intend to make it worth the wait...
You just gained a subscriber! I’ve been mulling over this idea for a long time!! I would’ve preferred a 3x3 headstock personally. At this point you’ve got my vote! Good luck!!
Hio Coen, Heel erg bedankt!
Looking good! Love the Fishman fluences in there. On another note, just received my Unquendor shirt! Please add zipless hoodies! I want 5 haha. Cheers Daniel. Always great content.

Hi Bonehead Guitars, Thank you very much. Your builds are also coming along nicely isn't it? I'm terribly sorry for not having the time to watch much of your videos myself.
Hi Tuxuu, Good question... I want to be absolutely sure a player can't lose the cover plate on stage. The plate realistically only needs to come off once or twice a year so in my opinion undoing a couple of screws isn't that much of an issue. And I don't know how I feel about putting strong magnets near the electronics of a guitar. Some go overboard with shielding and such to prevent electro magnetic interference and yet put very strong magnets inside or near the cavity. I haven't tested this yet, but for some reason this feels off to me. Might be worth a little research.
