    I watched this when it first came out and in all of the comment blogs it said the reason Hyrum was a missionary for so long was because he and Rebecca (Isaiah's wife) had gotten caught making-out. So he had a longer road to prove that he was worthy of a marriage. I don't know if it is true but when you see him and Kelly interacting in the kitchen he tells her she isn't his first kiss and she says she had heard that it definitely seems like that could be the case.

    I always wondered how the girl could differentiate a revelation from a crush. Cuz crushes feel REAL. Of course, it needs to be approved, but I also wonder what criteria the brethren use if they disapprove a marriage.

      Based on how these communities function, I'd think they'd give anything they can think of as rationale. They have all the power, so it's not like the women would likely fight it.

      Well, taking care doesn't mean breast feeding them all. Daycare centers take care of dozens at a time, and like daycares, plural families have help.

    • @cherylcrozier-garcia8862
      @cherylcrozier-garcia8862 2 місяці тому

      @@shirlzitting647 We don't know how she's feeding those kids. She might not be breastfeeding them all, but bottle babies take just as much attention as those on the breast at mealtimes, and how many preschool aged children can actually finish a meal completely unaided? In my state, licensed family day care providers can only take in two unrelated children, specifically because we know keiki need the focus and attention of their elders to grow up healthy. I doubt there is a licensed preschool or day care center out there who has a child to adult ratio of 9 :1. No one adult can properly care for that many children. At best, that level of adult supervision is no more than warehousing or herd management. Rose is undoubtedly a loving; attentive mother but she is unfairly burdened and she and those kids deserve better.

    • @jewelgazer
      @jewelgazer 2 місяці тому

      I think the young toddlers and preschoolers kindof run wild because there is no way adults can keep up with that sort of parent to child ratio.

    As usual, I love you guys and your take(s) on things, but I do disagree on one thing: life (and parenthood!) is OFTEN a sacrifice and a 'dying to oneself' because of a greater good...think of all who have profoundly disabled children or those who suffer from infertility or a horrific health diagnosis or the death of a spouse or child...the list goes on and on. Heartbreak, yes, absolutely, but SO MUCH GOOD can come of sacrifice. I don't necessarily think you need to pity people who have a 'hard' life, you know? There is still joy to be had. :)

    Ive been thinking a lot and have meant to comment but ive been backwatching all your old videos, i do have an insight as someone from the UK, more rural area of Wales in the valleys, as someone who has not seen any ‘high demand religion’ or as i would say cult, is it because of your guys’ history being in one that you dont like to use the word, for me watching you can tell the discomfort from the both of you when that word is used yet for me it wouldnt take me a second to see the lds and flds as cults as ive never experienced a religion that is so high demanding to the point it can cause real trauma and affect people so much, which has been the case for many who are exmo and exflds. Melissa, you say its a buzzword that people use but the way i see it and im sure many do, if it walks and talks like a duck, its a duck. Just wanted to say aswell that i love you both and your videos im bingeing them as well speak just a thought ive been having and needed to jot down somewhere 😂

    • @shirlzitting647
      @shirlzitting647 2 місяці тому

      A duck? Well, that's why some call them quacks. A religion only becomes traumatic and cultish when its leader catches a revelation bug that unjustly traumatizes people, rather than giving them a chance to grow and develop. Then it becomes a culture cut short: Cult.

    I am 50. When I was a kid there were commercials telling people to call this number to get their free New Testament and free Book of Mormon, OR to ask your Mormon neighbor. And there is the choir. I am too old for all this identifying as someone else nonsense and constant rebranding, the also changed the text size on the name tags.. so I will say Mormon. COJCLDS just does not roll off the tongue and besides in another decade or so they will rebrand again.

    Emma and kids went back east. The sons continued the Latter Day movement and never had polygamy. She said it didn’t happen. It’s all on BY and I don’t know who died and left him be in charge… he blamed it on the dead guy. No legal widow or legitimate son to back up that story. Just saying.. and it ended soon anyway.
