Price is competitive (not only with other tube pedals but boutique overdrives). Seems like a great pedal for single channel amps. Wouldn't be surprised if folks paired this with power amps (like the SD Power Stage).
Would love to see two of these, stacked together: one as the basic slight gain/overdrive/pushed sound then the other driving it (as needed) into *more* gain/drive/sustain/thickness!!!
The Santa Ana Overdrive in front of this is GLORIOUS!!!!! I run it into a 70's Musicmaster Bass Amp and the result makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time.
i really wonder why these pedals are much more expensive in the US than here in europe, it has always been the other way around with US based companies 🤷♂
Tube-powered overdrives have been around for decades but this one sounds as good as or better than any I've heard yet. I'd take this over the legendary Butler and it's a lot easier to find.
Would love to side by side this with a Tube Driver. Also would be fun to play with different tubes, see which sounds best. Edit: Just kidding, guess it's only a specific tube that works.
I know this is an old video but could you explain perhaps how this pedal differs from the Santa Ana overdrive that fender released they seem very similar. It says that this is a distortion pedal and yet I don't really see it that way it sounds more like an overdrive
Hey, Tuna. There are similarities between the two pedals with the high voltage tube. The MTG has a deeper feature set with the tight and mid controls and selectable boost. It doesn't have the fuzzy top end of the BKTD and is in the "amp in a box" realm, compared to the BKTD. Very touch sensitive with more sag. It's a great pedal of it's own regard. Whether it's a replacement or not is up to your ears to decide. We have a 30-day evaluation period, so you can try it in your own rig with no obligation. why speaking sooooo much about how this&that sounds!!!! lets hear..., theres is a guitar...why not use it.(is there a reason?).. to let us hear the sound (not your voice)would be much better....
How would this work if I used it to replace my Fulltone ocd? I normally use my ocd as a boost on my rockerverb dirty channel, have gain 1/8th of the way up and the level maxed
Hi, Ethan, Thanks for your question! The cool thing about the Fender MTG is the variety of options to dial in the tone. Both gain and tone. And a switchable boost on top of that. You may find that the sound closest to the OCD requires the boost engaged. You still have another totally viable sound without the boost engaged that is totally useful. Or you'll dial in a tone without the boost and then you have another option to get higher gain. It's really a matter of experimenting. Please contact me direct if I don't understand or haven't fully answered your question. Stay well! Its not much so an distortion but a slightly overdriven tube amp sound.. Not so much a death metal distortion... wtf.. it says distortion not overdrive. I want gain and saturation ...and lots of it.
@Sweetwater Will you guys STOP MIKING AMPS SO CLOSE! Everything sounds deader than a damn dental booth! I KNOW you have EEEEEEVERYTHING available to make perfect recordings in nice natural environments LIKE HOW WE HEAR AN AMP IN OUR HOMES AND/OR ON STAGE....hell, even in the studio...where 'dead sound' is not the order of the day.

What I was thinking!

Damn it hit like first few seconds in love that sound!
My only complaint is that these demos aren’t versatile enough. Would like to hear it with different genres of playing
would need other players besides an old rocker
@@bluejohn57 that’s pretty rude to say
I wouldn’t need this pedal if I played on this awesome amp !
Awesome playing as always Don!!

Less expensive in Japan as well. Strange.
Excellent Video, Brilliant Pedal! 👍👍👍.
Take care Don♥️🎸👍.

Wow this pedal sounds really good.
please do a demo of this pedal using different guitars and amps
Good sounding pedal, at least with that setup. You would really have to test it in your setup to make final call.
Love that guitar!
Is that also a good one for the Marshall amp? Great tone man
why in the world you didn't showcase the boost functionality??

Did they demo the boost side?

Not much of a problem since the 6205 is basically an EL84 the size of a grain of rice.

I wonder how this compares to the BK Butler Tube Driver. I'm looking for a replacement.

@@sweetwater thanks for the info robert. if you guys did a comparison video, i guarantee you that pink floyd nuts like me will eat it up.
How would this pedal sound with the new Fender Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb amps.....
Where is the battery department it says is there? Is it?
Would've been nice to hear the pedal.
Can I use this to get a Tweed Keef Richards tone?
Anybody tried it as an alternative preamp for a Hot Rod DeLuxe?
As nice as that 64 deluxe is, wish they had used a cleaner fender like the 68 deluxe for contrast.
