Just did this today and it worked. My only extra tips are use plenty of heat when getting the screen off that thin aluminum case. Use a knife or razor blade to cut under the screen through the glue all the way around. Obviously need a rag or gloves for this to hold it in place while cutting. And secondly, if the touchscreen doesn’t work when you put it all back together, go back and make sure your ribbon cables are perfectly in place. There’s 2 tiny tabs on each ribbon connector that need to lock in straight. Cheers and good luck
Why don't you add video of heating the screen and removal of the screen from the frame and attachment of the new screen? I love your video it would be so much more helpful to see you actually remove the old screen and attach the new one to the frame. Thank you for the video!
That's what I came here for. Anyone know if there's footage out there of that?
The screen on my 2015 Silverado LTZ had been randomly changing like it had a mind of its own. After ignoring it for about 2 years I just changed out the digitizer with one I bought from Amazon. All told it took me about an hour with the majority spent on removing the glass from the screen with a blow dryer. So far so good. Thanks for the video
So I bought one of the $35 touch screens of eBay. Took 30 mins from start to completely done. Fixed my problem.
thanks for your video! I replaced my ghosting touchscreen for $38 and it's working great. the block of wood tip was a great idea, as the original glass was hard to remove. thanks again!
I really appreciate the video!! After a year of frustration with radio problems, I went to a local audio shop. Holy crap a thousand dollars for a replacement. I found your video and an easy peasy fix that cost 50 bucks!!! To bad all the problems with GM vehicles couldn’t be fixed with a 50 dollar part.
Thanks so much for the video, I really appreciate it! Just finished up changing out the digitizer in my 2015 High Country. Works great with a digitizer I got from Amazon for $30 (with coupon) Relieved so much aggravation and heartache over my truck 😅 Much love from Waynesville, Ohio!
Even though it’s not exactly the tutorial you were giving you still showed us how to replace the digitizer as well as the screen and I was trying to figure out how to replace my digitizer for a minute but I’m happy you made this video because I’m definitely doing it myself now.
Saved $1,407 by following your video and installing the $35 screen that I purchased on Ebay. Thanks for the instructional video! My local Chevrolet dealer quoted $1,442 to replace "both" screens. Said the parts were about $800 of that price. The replacement took me 45 minutes so that is good rate for their labor. Those dealerships have a license to steal!
They'll charge you $4-500 to replace a door window motor. You can get a motor and regulator kit from an auto parts store for less than half that. I think Ebay has them for $50 even. Swapping out the regulator and motor takes about 30 minutes and a beer.
@@razorbackblood06Yup! Just replaced my passenger side rear window regulator. $40 something dollars from rockauto/amazon. Dealership wanted $500 lol. UA-cam has been a game changer for people that aren’t very mechanically inclined like myself.
Thanks, this saved me a ton of money. My local dealership wanted to charge me $900.00 for three parts, only needed one, and a reprogramming of the radio. My only problem was when I had to remove the screen from the glass. I ended up cutting it off with an exacto-knife because the heat gun/hairdryer wasn't working for me. Thanks again.
You’re welcome
By the way I would love to tell the dealership off that told you
You need to get the Display programed Anytime you replace just the display you don’t have to program it.
I love telling people off that try and get $$$ for doing nothing.

@@chcarstereo5575 what do you recommend for an aftermarket radio if this happens again and I choose not to buy another digitizer?
@@echo2105 I don’t install aftermarket anymore
Touchscreens are supposed to last about 5 to 10 years
This touchscreen for the Chevy
The manufactures just made a cheap Touchscreen that’s why it didn’t last.
You should be good for at least 5 to 10 years
@@chcarstereo5575 no problem. Thanks for helping others and myself with our radio issues.
The dealer most likely is replacing the entire screen assembly. GM does not support this type of repair at the Dealership level. And I guarantee the techs most likely aren’t aware of this ez repair. The parts department is probably crapping their pants. Now in 2024 the screen is on EBay for less than 20.00 shipped.
Thanks for the video! Changed mine out yesterday and works great again!
I really appreciate this video. I just installed my replacement screen this afternoon after putting up with a glitchy screen for two years. Everything operates as new on first try. Saved a bundle 👍
Thanks man I just fix mine just watching your video 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you! worked like a charm, fixed my issues.
Amazing video. Best one out there to get this job done. Using the block for support was a big help. Thank you
This video saved me $1k, thank you!!
Worked perfect! So Far!~
Thank You Sir! Air fryer did it fast for me.
Did I miss something? He's holding a heat gun and then cleaning and putting it back on control unit. Never saw the screen actually coming off or being glued back onto the frame piece.
Yeah we all missed it. Those seem like important steps. That’s like skipping the step where you turn on the stove in a recipe.
Thank you so much for the video! Ordered a touch screen digitizer, replaced it today. Works perfect!
If you are patient and handy it is super easy. If not I’d order the entire assembly.
From where did you ordered the digitizer or the screen?
This pisses me off. I've been frustrated with my screen for years now. Finally watched this video and ordered new screen and digitizer. Works great now!!

This one comes with the plastic pry tools. The video is super helpful. I used a razor blade, pry tool and hairdryer to remove the old screen. I did scrape off most of the old adhesive and wiped the frame with alcohol.
No more listening to whatever my dashboard demons choose for me!

Hi, I was just watching your video. My screen has a crack in it and does not work properly. So where do I get just that part? Does the new one have adhesive to attach to the metal frame? Thanks,
Craig
Thank you for this video. This video totally helped me replace my cracked screen. The only part really missing was how to attach the new glass screen to the old metal frame. I used some double sided sticky tape. The kind that’s about 2/16 thick and is sorta spongey. I trimmed it to about 3/16 wide and laid a strip around the entire frame.
I appreciate the video. But what about all of those air bubbles you had when you were reassembling everything? Do they just go away?
if I hardly use my touch screen - will it last longer and not exhibit the problems others have? Mine is a 2018 and still works well.
Thanks, very helpful!
CHINGON BRO¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
I have a 2015 chevy silverado and experiencing a lit of the same issues everyone is. Changing stations, middle and right side of screen unresponsive etc. If i relace the whole part and it doeant work, can i return the item? 375$ is a lot of money taking a chance on somwthing that may or may not work. Thanks
What is the difference in the touch screen digitizer that is linked here for $375 and the numerous ones I found on ebay for less than $50????? Serious question, not being smart.
It looks like one is the just a digitizer (touchscreen) with LCD screen and the other is the whole assembly. The 50$ dollar ones on ebay or more like 35$ is what I just paid to replace mine is just the Digitizer touchscreen with nothing else
Is there video of removing the metal frame and reattaching it to the new screen? That's the part I was waiting for.
Which side of a new screen am I supposed to put it back on the metal frame?
Do you have to glue the new one in
Just dod this, video was solid. Question is, if that didnt fix the touch screen, i assume just a bad screen entirely?
I got a 2014 chevy silverado lt crew cab 4wd my touch screen has a crack in it will this work
What did you do with the heat gun????
I guess we'll never know. Kin of an important step!!!
Will this fix the ghost clicking issue I have with my screen. Also the center of my screen is unresponsive to touch
So the orange color ribbon cable that is attached to the clear piece is missing from my touch screen . What is it's function?
Do you have to reprogram the radio after change the screen?
Did you just clean it? Or did you replace it. I am have issues.
Amigo no se vio como pegaste el nuevo táctil se usa algún pegamento???
Are the gold screws holding the screen in place a star or flat head screw ?
T15 torx (star drive)
The digitizers are about $12 on ebay. That seems to be the defective part on all of these models. If you need the screen + digitizer it's $60 to $70. You'd think that General Motors would've done a recall on these for the vehicle owners. This goes bad in nearly every single vehicle.
so we dont need an adhesive for the screen ?
Where can I find a new digitizer? The screen is completely shattered along with the digitizer. Any links or info much appreciated.

My touch screen doesn’t work will have to replace the entire screen or just replace the digitizer
What are we using to glue the new digitizer onto the frame?
This works good you can get it at Walmart

Did you put a new digitizer screen on the radio head? or did you clean it the digitizer screen? Why the heating gun? I have a 2017 silverado. Part of the screen does not sense my touch
Same problem. Mine also will randomly click on things when nothing is touching it.
Hi the touchscreen on most gm trucks go bad.
You will need to replace the touchscreen
The reason why I was using a heat gun was to remove the old Touchscreen
You can also use a hairdryer if you don’t have a heat gun.

@@chcarstereo5575 How did you get your new screen onto that metal frame? I’m repairing a 2017 Silverado screen . I have the new digitizer but need to remove the old one off that frame. It looks like in the video you did that part, but it also looks like the new digitizer you put back on already had the frame on it? The digitizer i got off eBay didn’t come with the frame.
@@bobmiller45 yeah, he skipped that part. i am getting ready to install a new touchscreen and was curious as well.
The issue that I am having with my 2015 Duramax 2500 is that on the right half of the screen I have no touch response. I do however have touch response on the left half of the screen. Will this product fix my issue???

I replaced my touch screen using this method however only 2 days later there is a rainbow effect coming from the bottom right of the screen. Any idea of what that could be?
Who did you buy the screen from
Did you remove the plastic
Does the replacement screen need to be programmed?
No programming
Where else can you get the lcd touchscreen beside eBay or dealership?

@@chcarstereo5575That’s for the whole part, do you have just the screen?
Great video but replacing just the digitizer did not work for me. Had to replace the assembly for it to finally be fixed. Got the assembly from OPURADIO as in another video. Good Luck.
Can you share info please. Replacing just the touch screen didn’t work for me either.
Has anyone had the same problem after changing out the screen or digitizer? Or did I just happen to buy a bad screen?
That glass is NOT easy to separate from the metal bracket. Pain in the ass!!
Well, it works. But the touchscreen isn’t working properly. I did everything as depicted. Any ideas why?
You bought a cheep touchscreen
You get what you pay for
Are Touchscreen’s cost $200
We check every screen before we ship them out
Any idea why my display screen is now blank after I reinstalled it in the truck? I can tell the touchscreen is now working, but now the screen is blank?
Check the ribbon cable make sure the ribbon cables are straight
Also, check the mini USB that plugs into the back of the radio
If That’s not plugged in all the way of you will not see a picture
@@chcarstereo5575 I'm having this same black screen problem. Should the metal shroud surrounding the mini-usb female connector on the screen side poke through the plastic, or should it sit right behind the plastic? My USB plug seems to click into place, but I cant tell if it's seated or not.
I got the same problem did you figure it out
When I go in reverse my camera show tho
What is the Part Number for the touch Screen?

Replaced the touch screen and now nothing on the screen works. Before just part of the touch screen worked. Mostly worked at outside edges.
Never mind. Just reinserted my cables and now it works great. Thanks 👍
Hi you either have a bad touchscreen
Or the ribbon cable is not connected properly it needs to be straight
I followed all these steps, still no touch response! I’m at lost
Did you figure it out?

All these guys say the same thing at the end, "it's as easy as that". But both videos I've seen so far, they skip details. One guy says there are a few more screws on yours, as this one I slapped together to make the video. I appreciate their efforts, but skip the easy at the end part cause' you all are skipping the little details.........
Hi I know the video sucks
Something happened when i was recording
I need to make another video
