@@douglas3286 i would say on your own is better because it is more freedom to visit places than going on a tour. City centres have nightlife, for example I live Ho Chi Minh city. Hanoi, Haiphong, Nha Trang, Da Nang or just any of big cities. During day time, you can walk around the streets and try foods or something. Hope this helps you.

They're a socialist country which completely goes against the idea of charities and tips since a collectivised nation with workplace democracy should also be paying their workers more than enough to live. Whilst charities go against the idea of equality in communism, indicating there's an oppressed group (homeless, sweatshop workers, starving people etc) that you'd be donating to for assumed humanitarian aid. Aiding Vietnam for a developed future? That's what taxes are for lol

Through ups and downs especially the horrible lockdowns during the pandemic, you are still stuck with Vietnam, which is pretty amazing. Personally, I always believe Vietnam is a great country to live in. The cost of living is low, the inflation is low, the healthcare system is now much better, Vietnam is much more socially, politically and economically stable than many countries in the world particularly in Asia. Just look at the bloody mess in Thailand last week, the human trafficking problems in Cambodia and the current lockdowns in China! In other countries, the winter is coming up, and the natural gas prices are increasing - 6 times higher than last year! Wish I were there in Vietnam 😁

Hi :) I’d love to help you with your question
The central of Vietnam faces a huge problem of Annual floods. Idk why that’s the case, something with the geographic of course. I think I should learn more about the underlying cause later.
The North and the South almost never face this challenge. Whenever there’s flood in the centre, there will be long days of rain in the other 2 parts. At least that’s my experience living in the South.
However, we have the ‘metaphorical’ flood in the South 😅 to explain, the water drainage system isn’t advanced, plus people throw out trash on the streets, so there’s usually water all over the city and thus, traffic problems.
Just note that it’s not like that every day and it depends on the roads and the area in which you live. District 2 of Ho chi minh city is a popular area for expats but it’s also notorious for the flood 😂

Thank you for the excellent video, Ninja.
I've seen and heard people saying one of their main reasons for moving to Vietnam was the lower cost of living compared to their home country. However, I've also heard that nowadays prices have increased dramaticaly (the Ukrainian War notwithstanding) in a way that Hanoi and Saigon are no longer that much different in cost compared to other big European cities. Have you personally felt/witnessed this, Ninja?

Partly true. You must know that English centers in Vietnam are like business. They use white teachers as a marketing tool: charging higher fees, we're serious that we have only native English speakers.
If you speak English without an accent you still have chance to get a job as English teacher in Vietnam. You have to make video presentation or to come to face to face appointment to prove your unaccented pronunciation. I know a Filipino professor teaching Economics at a most privileged university in Hanoi. And another Filipino English teacher in Vietnam she makes $23 dollars per hour. She has video in UA-cam.

I just felt prices were inflated 2x 3x as soon as they saw me. At one point I did not even want to buy something if there was not a written price so I could be sure most people were getting about the same.

Also you must have 3 years of experience. in some countries that schools just say you were working 3 years but then you have to legalize it at the ministry of foreign affairs of the place you have worked. In my country is not easy to do that the supervisor of my school will check if I really worked.
