A little history. Before we had bubble floats, we used a 6 in piece of broom handle with screw eyes and wire leader then the McDonald's straw. It had to be a McDonald straw. We painted the broom handle all kinds of craze colors and patterns.
Hi Brad. It’s Scotty out here in Colorado. I use a bubble rig quite often. Usually with an artificial fly, for lake trout. Not sure what type bubble you use, but the ones I use, you can fill half with water. Gives you the ability to cast a country mile.
We threw bubbles all week when we were there in July. It’s a great way to fish and the blowups are awesome. Lime green was the best color straw for us by far.
Still a tried and true technique with the straw rig. Way back to the '80s for us. You should make a broomstick lure for King and Blues. So much fun! Good Tackle Tuesday information as usual, Brad! Cheers!
We're going to be down the week of Thanksgiving, I've never fished that late in the year down there. Would love to see a tackle Tuesday on surf fishing for that time of year. And as always love the videos.
Brad: terrific stuff! I was wondering why you the treble hook and straw (?) ~ I thought to myself "What bait is he going to put on a treble hook that he COULDN'T put on a single hook?!" but then it dawned on me when you described how you fished this set-up, that essentially you have a different version of a popping cork!
This is great! I can't wait to try this for pier fishing. I didn't get if you use the bubble with or without water. I guess it depends wieght you want?
I like the tackle Tuesday helps me learn knew stuff. Its tuff to learn anything from those other clowns you hang with but I love em anyway. Feed me all the knowledge
Thanks for the insight Brad. Would love to know how to keep the Catfish of my bait on the bottom of Smokehouse Bay, Marco Island Florida for my young son! Thanks man
Curious if it would work along a shallow seawall - murky, less then 4 feet deep. We have tried fresh bait, artificial and got nothing you can see them darting from schools but not break the surface.
@@deftink0236 - family vacation is first week of May each year on Dauphin Island. Casting on to the grass flats or in to the surf is okay for us adults. It's the grand kids and sparking that interest in wanting to fish that's difficult, the species don't matter to a kid. That just want to cast and catch something.
@@BeardedBrad92 speckled trout, reds, flounder, whiting, the water is always kind of murky when we are there. The freighters and shrimpers keep in churned up. The oyster humps are casting distance from the sea wall in a few places.

That’s awesome!
Little pink plastic octopus teasers works great with that rig!

These fill with water too, I just forgot to mention that part!

Thanks for the info Brad! Your setup I think is best for bubble rigs!!!👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣

Looking into it. I’ve been a Gotcha Plug guy throughout my pier career. But this looks pretty cool too.
I’ve been pier fishing more lately and everyone was using one. I said to myself I need to get some bubbles. Then you post this video how funny
Seen a few guys from their main line a swivel leader with bubble then another swivel and leader with Clark spoon or like what you had.
Here’s your sign! Haha
I’m on the pier In Panama City beach right now tying this and watching your video waiting for daylight to try it

Pompano jig for me! It catches all sorts of fish.
That’s definitely my favorite to throw
Brad thanks for sharing can you comment on how you retrieve this rig. Is it a constant retrieve or do you pop it during the retrieve?
I switch it up and just see what’s working that day
I'm going to hold you to that statement Brad...in regards to the best rig! Better catch em up tomorrow!!!

Great vid, thanks for sharing! 👍
Let’s Go !! 🐊🐊🐊 Man is was a great vid brother. Most people don’t know how or why when it comes to a bubble rig
Nice video Brad. I'm always trying to learn more on fishing and this is helpful. Thank you. Fishing is Learning. Be Safe Brother.
Thanks man!
So how do you fish it? Reel and cast. Jerk and reel. Slow steady reel?
Does this work at the jetties
This is the go to Mackerel Rig.
Thanks for the info
Bearded Bandito doing some bubble action!
Ya buddy!
Cool rig I’ve never seen anyone use that where I’m at but who knows it may be the ticket
It catches everything!
Great video on the bubble lure what size of hook should I use
Thanks!
Do you put bait on the treble hook
Hey Brad, this rig seems light. What provides weight for casting distance? Especially on a pier.
I forgot to mention in the video, you fill that bubble up with water and that gives you the weight
great vid
What size treble hook are you using with the straw
did something similar with a wooden egg for bluefish in nj
Back in 1950? 😂
Thanks, Brad I would like to know what size bubble you're using I ordered some online and they are small
I honestly didn’t know there was a size difference. I linked some below that should be the same ones I used
@@BeardedBrad92 thanks
Very cool maybe bring the camera in a little closer hard to tell what you’re doing all right bro thanks for the tech tip
Thanks man. Working on getting some new gear that’ll help with all that!

Should work. I've used that in the shallows behind the jetties at the pass there in orange beach, catching Spanish/blues/ & gobs of ladyfish

I would say it depends on what’s around in that area.

Do you put water in the bubble?
A little bit, if you're trying to cast very far you'll need the weight
@@deftink0236 yea. I normally fill it about half way. That thing will cast a mile. Just wondering if Brad did it the same way.
Yes we do
Did you have to fire Fast Freddy!!??
He’s back! You’ll see him in a vid soon!
Yeah boyyyyy
Maybe we can go pier fishing sometime.
Come down and we’ll go!
Take the texas challenges mdlr fishing
Tell him to bring it!!
@@BeardedBrad92 Me and my wife are avid fishing addicts and watch both channels all the time. Fans of both teams although your team is funnier!
Does anybody fish a trolley rig since the end blew off the pier?
I’ve seen a few people do it
If anything gave him this great wisdom he has it has got to have come from his beard. C'mon!
Please switch to circle hooks 🪝Treble hooks Harm the fish
Treble is the most effective for mackerel with the soft mouth
Hey Brad that almost duplicates , a saltwater Trout Rig !
Pretty similar
Local McDonald's had to limit # of straws given out because of fisherman taking all the straws. Use the rig all the time.
Hahah that’s awesome!
What if we use cheese balls instead of a bubble 🥴
Now you’re on to something! Tell Ron to make his own cheese ball rig!
