3rd video of yours and apparently my instincts are hitting more than missing. Thanks. My tone and timbre is not angry and cynical, but I'm throwing eggs at angry and cynicals house.
Thanks for this Greg. I would like to get back on stage after a year, however, i've been finding it difficult to put a set together, and I think you just hit the name on the head. Put some emotional heat on it. Find something that violates your values!
Hey Greg! Bought the first version of your book back in 2008 and just now listening to the 2018 version on audible. Amazeballs! My question for you. In this video you say to write jokes that violate you're values. Are you saying the joke premise should violate your values or the setup premise?
For your premise to be about that which violates your values. I value taking responsibility for your actions. So those who violate this value is the subject along and then have a negative opinion about that subject. Premises (also Punch Premises) only have 2 parts. Subject and Negative Opinion: people are irresponsible or irresponsible people make me angry.
It is only learned. Babies don't pop out the womb doing one-liners. The craft of comedy can be taught and learned. The art of being funny is learned through trial and error.

Ture. Now you have a reason to do the material as you care about the message behind the jokes. Well done.

@@gregdeancomedy thanks for clarifying! I hope you make it out to Denver some day to do workshops. I'd be the first person to sign up.
I wanted to ask do you have to be funny to do comedy or can you learn it
