Thank you for the help. It works. Just in case someone doesn't have a keyboard on them, which is most people if you're on the go, you can also do this on the touch screen by, while in Big Picture, you press the Steam button, tap on Power and then tap on "Minimize Steam". After that just do everything that's told in the video.
Great video helped me fix the issue. The only thing I did different is that I just opened up steam regularly in desktop mode and then followed your steps. That way you don't have to use steam big picture or external devices.
Ok thank you, I just got my steam deck OLED a few weeks ago and it randomly had no sound in game mode but my volume in games was fine, this is the first PC I've had in years so I'm still learning how to use the steam deck
Thanks bro! You saved me! Also, a small tip for avoid using external keyboard: open any video and click on "youtube" icon on the bottom right, it will open your browser/chrome moving you to the desktop ;)
I had no UI sounds or start-up sounds. How to fix: 1. Go to desktop mode 2. Open the steam app while in desktop mode 3. Open the shop tab and select any game 4. Play the games trailer 5. While the trailer is playing, go to the sound icon in the taskbar 6. Under "applications" unmute chromium 7. Done, you can switch back to game-mode
Thank you for guessing where the problem comes from. I'm tired of these incomprehensible errors on the steamdeck. Things stop working from one day to another and it doesn't matter what version of the OS you're on. I'm slowly becoming disenchanted with this machine, seriously :(
Dudeee I was going crazyyy for ui to stopped working. I have even re installed steamOS, thinking the sound files might be corrupted. Your video saved me. Thanks a lot !!
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER!! I tried loading up a rom and it must’ve muted my chromium by accident because every game had audio but not the Steam OS UI DISCLAIMER: YOU CAN DO THIS WITHOUT A KEYBOARD, JUST PAUSE THE TRAILER AND EXIT BUG PICTURE MODE AND CHECK THE AUDIO SETTING LIKE NORMAL, NO KEYBOARD NECESSARY
Hi i have a problem, and i think nobody has it, the sound that the steam dexk does when your turn it on doesn't work for me and i cant find the solution, help please 😢
Needing a physical keyboard is a pain in the ass. Do what he says, play a trailer then quickly exit big picture mode, click on the speaker icon then unmute chromium increase it to 100%.
Nothing works for me snd my deck keeps defaulting output to EXTERNAL speakers... I have never changed anything. It worked straight out the box now there is no sound anywhere
Hey guys I just figured out how to fix this follow along Go to audio system settings In desktop mode. You will see a bunch of option and some say pro controller click on the disable option on one of them then click speaker (ACP AUDIO COPROCESSER as default. Make sure to disable the other option because that is putting your sound to default external
The fix worked for me. Thanks very much. I have been browsing through the stream store on my phone's stream app. Speculating: My best guess is when I turned on mute in the Steam app, it updated my account's sound settings in the cloud. Then after unmuting the app, the cloud settings don't change it back. The app's software probably has a broken or missing validation check that's supposed to recognize and resolve setting discrepancies.
Thank you for the help. It works.
